Pros: Very friendly, good food for an airline, low fares
Cons: Make sure you don't get "bumped"
The Bottom Line: If you are going to Central or South America, consider LACSA (owned by Grupo TACA) to be your number one choice.

A friend of mine in a spur of the moment type of thing decided to go to Quito, Ecuador to visit family and invited me to come with her. One problem we have three weeks before our vacation from school and can't find an airline with round trip tickets from JFK to Ecuador for less than a $1,000. Enter an airline I've never heard of, LACSA, offering round trip tickets to from New York-JFK to Ecuador for $540. So despite worries of not even hearing of this airline we grab the tickets. We go to the airport and are informed that we have been "bumped." No choice just "bumped." However, we really couldn't complain too much; the airline gave us a $400 voucher which could be changed into cash and we would leave tomorrow. From there the airline could not be nicer. The food wasn't bad we had a chose between pasta and chicken from New York to San Jose, where we had a layover. I chose the pasta it wasn't bad, but it was airline food. In San Jose, Costa Rica the airline provided a tour for us for no additional charge. They even gave us breakfast. Coming home the hospitality was just as great. LACSA or Grupo TACA, whatever you want to call it, is an airline that centers on the most important thing keeping their customers happy when they're in the air.
