It was our second cruise to the Caribbean, but our first one with Royal Caribbean. We have previously sailed with Carnival, and decided to check out Royal Caribbean and see if it's any better.
Well, to be honest, I didn't see a big difference between the two companies. Both cruises were very nice. Obviously Royal Caribbean had a different itinerary and different daily program (activities).
Majesty of the Seas sails mainly to the Bahamas, so that is where we sailed first, then Cococay, which is an Island owned by Royal Caribbean and they transformed the island (about 1 mile long, and 1.5 miles wide) into a resort town, with A LOT of activities like water slides, jet ski rentals, food area with a live band, parasailing, scuba diving... and many more.
I would say that Royal Caribbean did a good job as far as customer satisfaction goes. We were very pleased with the amenities on the ship, which included spa, fitness center, several movies theaters, several food courts which included different types of foods (ex: Italian, American, Latino, ...etc), rock climbing, casino, bars, souvenir stores (which, by the way, don't have taxes), and most importantly: regular pool, and a Jacuzzi pool.
We also got to experience their spa, we went for a couple's massage which we enjoyed very much! The masseuses were very experienced and did a good job.
Packing tips (essential items):
-Sports clothes
-Resort wear
-Comfortable shoes (i.e. tennis shoes, or flip-flops)
-Camera
-A few swim suits
-A cocktail dress for women (for the 'dinner with the captain gala')
-Suit for men (for the 'dinner with the captain gala')
No need for towels as they will be provided.
So, overall we had a great time on the cruise, it was definitely worth the money and time. We are already planning our next cruise with Royal Caribbean.
