Pros: Interesting architecture in a relatively wealthy country
Cons: limited tourist infrastructure and activities, and one of the more expensive Asian countries to visit
The Bottom Line: Save your money and visit Brunei on a day trip. There is plenty to do in Sarawak and other parts of Borneo for less

OK folks.
Brunei, being a very small country can be visited in about a day. If you are on a budget, plan to visit overland via Miri, in Sarawak. This will save you money several ways. First, airfare to Miri is about 1/2 the cost of air to and from Brunei, and there are more flights available. I visited Miri via Air Asia's Vacations to Go deal for about $225 for two people, sharing a 4* hotel for 2 nights, including air from Kuala Lumpur. The day trip to Brunei cost about $75 each, plus we added a 3 hour cruise of the river to see the Proboscis Monkey, etc.
As others have mentioned, there is not a lot to see in Brunei that cannot be seen elsewhere...for less. We focused on a 1/2 day driving tour of the capital, with lunch at a nice hotel, then the 3 hour boat ride. One day was sufficient for our needs, BUT, if you want to do other things, here are a few more activities to consider.
1. Playground amusement/theme park, with a couple coasters.
2. National Park hiking, rafting and general nature viewing.
Each of these other activities can add 1-2 days to your Brunei visit.
