Review Topic: Overview
It is hard to put my love for Jamaica into words, except I will say it is like when you are cuddling up in bed with your loved one one a sunday morning. You may not be able to put it into proper words, but you know you are in love. However, I will do my best to describe to you the things that I did in Negril, Jamaica, and how I felt about them and the beautiful people that I met.
DAY 1:
My USAIRWAYS flight finally lands in Montego Bay. Ah yes the day has arrived that I have been dreaming about for a long long time. One of the most interesting experiences I had was when I took the bus from Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay to Negril. The road to Negril is like driving on the worst country road you can imagine for 2 hours. Finally, I arrive to my resort, Negril Gardens which I highly recommend to anyone. I wanted to start doing things, like water sports, find the nude beaches as soon as possible. However, the bartender at Negril Gardens, J.J., gave me some good advice. He told me that Jamaica is a wonderful country with lots of things to do, but it is best on your first day to just rest and relax so that you do not get burnt out. I took his advice and just layed out on the beach. Later on I did decide to enjoy one of many beach parties.
Before I go on too far I want to say that while I was on vacation I met some of the most wonderful people. Some of them where from Jamaica, and others were from the states and other countries. These people took me in and befriended me when they did not have too. I am so grateful to God for that.
Day 2:
Today I decided that I was not going to just sit around all day. After laying out on the beach and enjoying a wonderful breakfast and lunch provided by the resort, I decided to go to venture into town. I decided to head to the shops in Negril. I even went into a local grocery store just to see if it was much different from our stores in the USA. As it turned out it was not much different, just a little smaller. The shops were nice. I even found a shirt for me that said, "No! I do not want a taxi, I do not want my hair braided, and I do not want any weed!" The only problem with Jamaica is there are a lot of people who try to get you to buy all kinds of things. you have to learn to take them in stride, and most of them are very nice people.
Day 3:
I finally went snorkeling on a glass bottom boat. You will find many of these boats along the beach, along with parasailing boats. I am not a great swimmer so I did venture far from the boat. Later on that day I met a group of people from the USA while I was swimming in the beach. They asked me why I was in Jamaica by myself, and I said I was celebrating my 30th birthday. They said that one of the members of their group had a birthday on my birthday, so they invited me to spend time with them. I was not only invited to spend time with them, but with many other people I met while in Jamaica. I was very touched by that.
Later on I went to the world famous Rick's Cafe. I highly recommend Rick's Cafe not only because of the gorgeous view, but the cafe is over all a lot of fun. That is where people go cliff diving. The cafe serves wonderful food and drinks, and they have great live entertainment.
The group that invited me to spend my birthday with them, invited me for dinner that night. Then afterwards some of us went to a beach party. On the way to the party a funny incident happened. Three friends that I met from England were talking on the beach to a Jamaican man. Two of them were husband and wife, and the other was a married lady but her husband was back in there room. The Jamaican man was trying to sell them drugs but he would not take "no" for an answer. Anyway, the wife who's hubby was not around, grabbed me and said, "There is my husband Jeff." She asked me to help get this man away so I did. I played her husband for 10 minutes. The pleasure was all mine, because she is very beautiful. her hubby thanked me later that night.
Day 4: MY BIRTHDAY
I went on a sailing trip with 40 other people on a catamarine (sp?). The name of the boat was called the "Wildthing". That was a lot of fun. they took us out snorkeling, plus we could have all the drinks we wanted on the boat. Then they took us to this island called "Boobey Caye." That is where "20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" was filmned. On the island we had a delicous bbq chicken lunch, and we got to swim around. On the way back they took us by Hedonism II.
When I got back to the resort, the group of people that invited me to spend my birthday with them had tables all set up. They told me to sit with them eventhough I was all wet. We broke bread, drank, and sang "Happy Birthday." I thanked God for that gift.
Later on that night, I decided I would go over to Hedonism II, to check it out. The dinner and entertainment was great. The staff was very friendly to me, and the female staff were all very sexxy. Yes I did go over to the nude bar and pool, and I even got naked myself. Hey, when in Rome do as Romans do. It was not very crowded, but I did see a lot of action from other couples. Yes, I looked. I figure if they were doing it right there in front of everyone they obviously did not care if people looked. i enjoyed Hedonism II very much, and eventhough I very much enjoyed Negril Gardens, I might stay at Hedonism II next time.
Day 5: MY LAST FULL DAY
I had planned on just relaxing for much of the day however these two very beautiful ladies from Virginia asked me to join them on a snorkeling trip. I loved it. We saw thousands and thousands of fish, and we even saw an anchor from an old ship. The only thing that bothered me was when i noticed that we were in very shallow water and the coral was just below me. On the coral were lots of sea urchins which sting you really bad. This scarred me pretty bad, as the thought of getting stung all over was not appealing. Out guided did get us out of there without any harm done.
Since this was my last full day, I spent the evening with all of my friends that I met. We had many drinks, danced, laughed, and of course excchanged e-mail addresses.
Day 6: FLIGHT HOME
All I could think was 365 days till my next trip to Jamaica, or less.
p.s. I say it is best suited for couples, but really Jamaica is great for anyone.
