That pretty much sums up Boston, except for the pan handlers that think you ought to give them something for nothing. No I won't spare some change, I only carry credit cards andeven if I did have money why should I give it to you for nothing ? They just get in the way of an overly crowded city. Want to go somewhere where you will bang into everyone else? Go to Boston, especially on a weekday. More people work in Boston than live there and upon visiting Boston, you can see why. Boston is mostly a city of offices, houses ? they don't have any stinkin houses in Boston. Apartments and old apartments converted into high priced condos is what Boston is. Of course there are dorms in Boston also for all the college kids, of which Boston is ideal for. Bars, plenty of bars, it even is the location of the bar that was CHEERS in the tv show.
WONDERFUL THINGS THAT HAVE COME OUT OF BOSTON:
AEROSMITH, need I say more? they even have their own club MAMA KIN's which is located almost directly behind Fenway park's Green Monster.
George Thoroughgood, yes the guy who is BAD to the BONE, and Drinks Alone lived in Jamaica Plain, a town inside Boston, and apparently he still does today. (there must be somewhere nice in Jamaica Plain, but it sure doesn't look like it)
SPORTS: Boston is Home of the Boston Red Sox, who are regretfully going to tear down Fenway Park to build a new one, The Boston Bruins, NHL and the Celtics, NBA, who both play at THE FLEET CENTER, named after the fleet enema. What a great corporate sponsor. Looking at the standings of these teams, it makes sense.
Boston does have a few nice cultural areas, the Boston Museum of Science and the Boston Aquarium being the only two I can honestly say are worth visiting. Quincy market ? OVER RATED. Go to a mall, you'll find better deals. Fanuel Hall ? Historic, yes, but whats the big deal ? It is a meeting house upstairs with shops downstairs.
Public transportation is excellent in Boston, it has to be, as there is almost no where to park unless you want to pay at least $10. in a parking garage.
Boston does have some very nice malls, with stores that cater to high end purchasers, as the jobs in Boston generally are very well paying. They have to be if they want anyone to go there and put up with all the aggravation. Your normal day would consist of the following if you decided to work in Boston: you get up go to work and sit in traffic for a good hour, creeping along ever so slowly. You go park, you work, walk to lunch somewhere, which is always pleasant at this time of the year with the freezing wind coming off the water and being pushed faster down the streets by the buildings. You return to work, finish up and join the traffic to fight your way home again. OR, you take the train system and depend on their schedule, go through all the stops on the way to your stop, and finally get in your car and drive home. But at least you don't deal with as much traffic. Traffic in Boston has been compounded as of late, and will continue to be for the immediate future. Boston is undergoing what is called "The Big Dig" which is creating a system of roads and tunnels underneath Boston. This is the largest construction project undergone. Will it ever be done ? Not in this lifetime!
If you go to Boston, be sure to check it out, it isn't hard to miss enormous holes in the ground with construction workers down in them.
If you come to Boston, be sure to bring plenty of Cash money to park in the lots, and to eat and shop, as almost everywhere is expensive.
And while you are here, don't forget to throw some tea in the harbor!
