If you've read all the epinions on Glacier Nat'l Park you know it is definitely the way to go, but if you love animals and you want something to do on the way to Glacier up from Missoula and see the National Bison Range half way between Dixon and Saint Ignatius, Montana in Moiese is the Nat'l Bison Range a National Preserve for the once endangered native american species. Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation it is truly one of the best tours to take. It's a driving tour and about 3 hours long if memory serves. On the way out you can get a Buffalo Burger and Huckelberry shake at the little cafe just outside the entrance, good eatin'.
In St. Ignatius is the Saint Ignatius Cathedral with it's excellent murals and tapestries. Between Saint Ignatius and Ronan is the Ninepipes Reservoir a small wildlife preserve home to hundreds of species of waterfowl and fish. Between Ronan and Glacier is Flathead lake one of the largest freshwater bodies outside the Great Lakes area. There are several things to do between here and there and there is the spectacular scene on the drive up to get you ready for what awaits in Glacier.
