I had the pleasure of eating dinner at the Delmonico Steakhouse in the Venetian Hotel recently. I cannot say enough good things about this eatery.
First off, we were greeted by a host with a smile and some drink suggestions. We sat in the lounge area for about 25 minutes waiting for our table to be prepared. The drinks were tasty and expensive (expected). The bar staff was attentive and friendly.
After being seated, we realized that we were in for a major treat. The tables were comfortable and each staff member was smiling and pleasant.
The Somolier was excellent, choosing or us (we're not wine pro's) a great wine. There was not any of that "smarmy" attitude that is often present in more upscale restaurants. He was helpful.. period.
Our waiter was great, attending to every detail and offering special "made to order" dishes for my "anti red meat" wife.
We ordered one appetizer to split. The Fettucini Alfredo appetizer was great and obviously made from fresh pasta and cheeses.
My wife ordered the stuffed shrimp and according to her it was that best shrimp dish she'd ever eaten! That is saying a lot because we live in an ocean town in NJ known for good fresh seafood.
I got the special Delmonico steak. This was probably the best steak I've ever eaten... and I've tried all the top steakhouses across the country. The meat was a perfect medium (not easy to do) and the taste was out of this world.
All the side dishes and desserts were equally great.
The total cost of the meal with drinks, wine, 1 app, two dinners and two desserts was $170. Not bad considering the quality of service and food. I've spent more for much less (see my review of Smith and Wollensky's NYC).
Overall, probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in five years.
Nothing negative to say except that it is too far from my home.
