Renaissance City (Reply to this comment)
by T-Rex
I, too, thought Newark was nothing more than a crime ridden city in North Jersey -- until my husband started working there. He introduced me to the Ironbound and the wonderful restaurants there. We have been to the Portugal Day parade several times and always have a great time.
Newark has been called a Renaissance city and the Ironbound and its residents have a lot to do with it.
Great review.

Yeah, garbage littering some of this nation's urban streets sure is a drag. God, what is wrong with people...

That's too bad that your Dad's wife does not cook! The food is out of this world. Especially if you enjoy seafood. I don't think I've ever heard of a Portuguese woman who didn't cook. Well, I guess there is always a first :)
Thank you for taking the time to read my epinion!

My Dad's wife is Portuguese, but alas she does not cook. I hate to think I'll have to go all the way to Newark to sample the cuisine you write about.
