Mangia Pizza is truly out of this world. There are several locations in Austin: one on Lake Austin Blvd. across from Magnolia Cafe, one on Mesa just south of Spicewood Springs Rd., and a delivery location on Guadalupe at about 34th (by Amy's Ice Creams.) Their dine-in locations are both nice, but the one on Mesa is newer. You can dine outdoors on the deck at the Lake Austin Blvd. location.
Their specialty is Chicago-style stuffed pizza, and it is THE BEST. While I have not had any other pizza of this kind to compare it to, I would venture to say it would compete with the best of them! My friend said their lasagna is also very good.
The price is reasonable, and the service has always been great. The waiters usually serve up the first slice for you, pulling it out of the pie and breaking all of those lovely strings of mozzarella...it's wonderful! They have excellent sauce and plenty of toppings to choose from.
One word of warning, don't bank on eating more than a couple of pieces in a sitting! They are very filling, so don't get a huge pizza unless you want a lot of leftovers (which are also nice.) I highly recommend Mangia for a casual night out or lunch. Call ahead if you are in a hurry- the stuffed pizzas take 30 minutes to make, but they are well worth the wait!
