Any dancing visitors to Seattle should check out the Century Ballroom, 915 E Pine. It's on the second floor of the old OddFellows lodge, and it's a gem!
The dance floor is wood, one of the largest in Seattle. The place is beautifully kept up, with red velvet curtains at the windows that line two sides, and crystal sconces in between. A small stage has live swing bands playing there often, and there are DJ'd swing dance nights Mondays and Wednesdays. There are latin nights every now and then, I think (but I'm a lindy hopper so that's when I'm there).
No partner? don't worry about it -- just ask someone to dance! The folks who dance here are very friendly.
the cafe that's attached has good tapas, and a great wine selection. There's no smoking in the building, thank heaven!
The Century is open all year round, but it does get a bit warm in the summer. Just bring along your japanese folding fan to cool off between dances!
One unusual thing -- the restrooms are unisex, so knock if that bothers you.
