| g0ld's Full Review: Cedar Point |
I have personally been to this theme park over and over again. This has to be my favorite park in the world. There is so many rides to ride while you are visiting this park.
Cedar Point has sixty-eight rides and fourteen of those rides are roller coasters. I personally enjoy the thrill of roller coasters. Other theme parks tend to focus mainly on small children and only build a few roller coasters. Cedar Point has gone beyond that and made roller coasters for adults as well as for the little children.
Now let's discuss why I love Cedar Point so much:
Convenience
Every where you turn around in this park there is a restroom or a concession stand of some sort. You never have to walk far to get something to eat or just to use the restrooms. I love this part because it makes things a lot easier especially if you are with a group and one person has to go to the bathroom - you don't have to walk around the whole park to find one.
For The Most Part It Stays Pretty Clean
Ok let's admit it, how clean can a theme park really be? Especially a really busy theme park. Cedar Point surprises me though - they keep their park looking neat. Of course there are going to be those few places the handy men have not gotten to yet but other than that it is pretty nice.
Food
I can honestly say that there really isn't anything to brag about here. The food is basically what you expect to have in an amusement park. They have a variety of restaurants and stands to choose from. I usually go with a burger and some fries and some cotton candy for later. They also have ice cream and candy and fudge. I ate in a restaurant once and the line was really long and took about twenty minutes to get a table. Plus we ordered basic food like Pizza and it took forty-five minutes. So if you want air-conditioning then you may want to try the restaurants, otherwise stick with the stands-they are faster than restaurants. As far as the price of food, it is about the normal amount for amusement parks such as $6.00 for a burger.
Can I Say Roller Coasters?
Cedar Point's main focus is Roller Coasters so of course they got some of the best in their theme park. Here is a list of the ones I think would be well worth your time:
* The Magnum --- This roller coaster is literally "The Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World." It is 205 feet tall and goes up to 72 mph. There are tunnels on this roller coaster and a bunch of hills. It is one of the best!
* The Raptor --- This roller coaster is by far my favorite. It is a suspended roller coaster that leaves your feet dangling in the air. You go upside down six times on this roller coaster and the best part about it is that it is a smooth roller coaster that does not jerk you like some of the other ones.
* Millennium Force --- This is the newest roller coaster that was build just this year. I finally got to experience this ride on August 11, 2000. What a trip! It is the highest roller coaster in the world. It is 310 feet tall and goes 92 mph. You are not allowed to bring any carry-on items on this coaster. You are also not allowed to chose where you want to sit. You cannot wait a half hour for the front line, they pack everyone on and all the seats are filled. The first hill is amazing and will take your breath away! If you are looking for a thrill this is definitely the ride for you!
* Mean Streak --- This is the tallest, fastest, steepest wooden roller coaster in the world. It is 161 feet tall and goes up to 65 mph. The best thing about this coaster is that it is in the back of the park so no one is ever on it. You can ride it and get back on again without having to wait.
* Blue Streak --- This is the oldest roller coaster at Cedar Point and it was build in 1964. It is still fun to ride because it is a roller coaster. It isn't really long but it has a few hills!
* Mantis --- This is a stand-up roller coaster that was just recently built. I hardly ever ride this coaster because it jerks you way too much and you get off it and you have a migraine. It is fun though (besides the jerking part) because it takes you upside down and it is a long ride.
* Corkscrew --- This is a triple looping upside down roller coaster that was built in 1976. This coaster also has a problem with jerking you around a lot but it is still fun none the less.
* Disaster Transport --- This is an indoor roller coaster. I like this coaster because it is pretty much in the dark and you don't know what is coming next. It is a fun coaster!
* Gemini --- The best thing about the Gemini is that there is hardly ever a line and if there is it goes really really quick. The Gemini is a racing coaster with a red coaster and a blue coaster racing to the finish. It is fun to go on with a group of people!
* Iron Dragon --- This is a nice roller coaster for people that do not like heights for fast coasters. It is nice and smooth and it is suspended. It is fun - but not as thrilling as others.
* Wildcat --- This is a roller coaster with individual compact cars. There are a few hills and nothing too exciting but it is fun!
Some Other Great Rides
* Power Tower --- This is a huge tower that stands 240 feet in the air. You have the option of either being shot up into the sky 240 feet at 50 mph or going to the top and being shot down 240 feet. It is a thrilling ride. If you want more of a thrill I would choose the side that shoots you down.
* Snake River Falls --- This is a water ride for those really hot days. It goes up 82 feet and you go down this hill with a boat of people. It is really fun and will get you wet!!
Soak City
Cedar Point has a water park called Soak City. You have to pay extra if you plan on going into Soak City. I have never been in Soak City and nor do I plan to. There is so much to do without even going to Soak City that it takes up your whole day. I would much rather ride the roller coasters then spend some time in the water park.
I definitely think you should try Cedar Point if you have not already. It is well worth your time and you will have a blast! It is $38.00 for adults and $10.00 for children to enter the park. Probably the only disadvantage of this park is the long lines. It doesn't matter what day you go on-there is always lines to every ride. So just be prepared to wait in lines when you go to Cedar Point.
I got the information about the roller coasters such as their height and speed from their web page: www.cedarpoint.com. Feel free to visit they should have answers to all your questions.
