I have been coming to Paramounts Kings Dominion since I was 5 years old. Back then it wasn't bought by Paramount and it wasn't nearly as good as it is today. There are not just rides but shops, shows and game rooms to occupy your time. This is a great way to spend time with your family. There is something here for both young and old.
The rides at Kings Dominion are some of the best I have even been on. The coasters are fabulous and vary in type. The newest coaster is called the Volcano Blast Coaster. Riders are suspended from below the track and are virtually shot out of a volcano! Other coasters are classics that I never get tired of riding. The Grizzly is a wooden coaster. It doesn't have any fancy loops but the speed and height of this coaster keep me coming back. The Shock Wave is another well known coaster of this park. It is a standing coaster with large drops, loops and turns. It is one of the shorter coasters, but probably one of my favorites. If you are not a roller coaster fan, there are other rides available in both the water parks and in the Wayne's World part of the park.
For children there is a complete park located in Nickelodeon Land. There, children can be slimed, play with Rugrats, or ride on the coaster specially designed for kids. There is also a swim park where kids can play in the pools.
Other great attractions at Kings Dominion are the Eiffel Tower and the Skyflyer. The Eiffel Tower is a replica of the famous Paris tower. Guests can ride to the top of the tower in a glass elevator that overlooks the entire park. This is not someone for those afraid of heights. The Skyflyer, which is my favorite attraction at the park, is a cross between bungee jumping and sky diving. There is a price for this ride that is not included in general admission. Guests in groups of 1-4 are attached to a bungee type cord and placed on a platform about 15 feet off of the ground. The platform is then dropped and the guests are then carried up to the center of high arch 150 feet off of the ground. One person must pull the rip cord and then you are set asail, soaring high over the park. The freefall on this is indescribable.
Not in the mood for rides? The park offers shows daily in the park pavilion. Musical performances and child acts are some of the shows available. Each night before the park closes there is a fireworks display. The Eiffel Tower is a great place to watch the fireworks.
My family goes to this park each year. The park is open May-October. Summer is the best time to go, it allows you to enjoy all the water attractions. We will be going within the next few weeks. It is something that I look forward to all year.
