I thought buying a seasonal pass to Universal Sudios/IOA was a GOOD idea,let me tell you why it was I am not renewing.
Since I work at WDW,I get in all the parks free(very nice benefit),I also have an annual pass for Sea World,(only $75 , no block out days, and I get %10 off food and merchandise).I thought I would rule Orlando, and purchase the Universal pass,in April of '99.At first everything was rosy, for a mere $195 I could visit both parks as often as I liked except when I was blocked out,basically all summer and Xmas and New Years,and Spring Break 2000.Supposedly they were going to send me special discounts on events ,and news letters to tell me about new attractions and show tapings that would be taking place at the Studios.
Well I did receive ONE news letter telling me I could get into Halloween Horror Nights for $20,which was nice,and they do offer a %10 on merchandise and food,but I am certainly not renewing for the following reasons,
1)While I.O.A. is a good park,there is simply not enough to do there,there are no shows,and the restaurants are not good either.
2)Most of the rides at I.O.A. are water rides!!And I am blocked out all summer.
3)The old park is old, with only M.I.B, showing any progress.
4)You practically have to park in East Angola, then you have to walk like 3 miles to get to the park,
5)You have to go through City Walk to get to either park
6)City Walk is no where near as nice as Downtown Disney.
I just know that WDW does SO much for their pass holders,like special pass holder days and sneak previews, and I am not paying that kind of money to be treated so cheaply!! I should have been able to ride M.I.B, before it opened. Also they now let pass holders have front of the line access between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. , which I heard from one of my friends, NOT Universal.
So while these parks are worth a yearly visit, save your money on the pass.
