I recently went to Islands of Adventure for my Spring Break and I was quite impressed. Although there are still many attractions in progress and some that were closed, the ones that were working were spectacular! The scenery is extremely fun and appealing making it feel like you are in some sort of other world!
The first ride I rode was The Hulk which is a roller coaster dedicated to The Incredible Hulk. Be prepared for a thrilling roller coaster! One thing that I didn't expect while sitting in the machine was the quick blast it sent through the tube in the start. As Space Mountain in Disney, you are placed in front of a tube filled with swirling lights and you expect that you will move through the tube slowly while it picks up pace. No way! It literally throws you at full speed through the tube. That really got me going!
Then I experienced an amazing graphical adventure with the Spiderman ride. Remember Back to the Future The Ride? This is basically the same idea, but mixed in with King Kong The Ride. You are taken through multiple big screens AND a citylike scenery. This is incredibly a wonderful experience (although the wait was extremely long) that soars you through Marvel Comics nirvana!
Dr. Doom - I didn't even go there. To be blasted up into the sky and fall straight back down is really horrifying for me. My fiance, however, did ride it and said it was a definite heart pumping experience and in the words of my best friend, the experience was "brutal".
Dueling Dragons was my ultimate favorite heart stopping roller coaster. Ever wanted to experience a roller coaster where you are literally hanging from (there is no floor)? Experience two completely different roller coasters that will definitely show you that you aren't so tough after all! The twists and turns are taken over the edge when you experience them extremely close to the other coaster. The Fire and Ice dragons start at the same time and nearly touch each other feeling as if though you are going to collide with them. Major adrenaline rush!
Jurassic Park is Splash Mountain part II. I was disappointed with this ride only because it is extremely short. On the other hand, the end was extremely horrifying when you are met face to face with an evil dinosaur! Now, Splash Mountain can't top that!
Dr. Seuss and Toon Lagoon as pleasant to the eye as you feel you are taken away to kiddie land. Many of the activities, though, were closed so the only good thing were the stores and HAPPY nature of the place.
One humorous event that occurred when I was there was this talking water fountain (I have no idea what it is called). You basically can stand around and talk to him. He was quite a comedian as he was picking on a young crowd in front of him. He could see all that was going on around him. But beware! Once you feel you have made a pleasant friend with the fountain, he can spurt water at you and you can all of a sudden become extremely soaked in water!
There are all sorts of other exciting things to do at Islands of Adventure, but the ones I mentioned are the most memorable ones. I definitely would recommend this park to all and hope that you enjoy your time there. It is a great place to just be a kid again and experience extreme fun and adventure!
