I've visited Whistler in every season for the past 10 years. I feel fortunate for living only 5 1/2 hours away from this awesome place. Every time I come back I feel like I've come home again. I've had the best ski days ever there, seen the most gorgeous views, eaten the most amazing food (my favorite restaurant is the Rimrock Cafe, for incredibly cheap and delicious sandwiches it's Ingrid's Deli). My daughters and their snowboarding friends love the place as much as I do. Nothing like sitting in the Longhorn with a group of friends and family after a day on the slopes, laughing, having a few beers, trading stories, watching ski videos. I've never had a bad experience at Whistler. I broke my leg at the top of the Red Chair at Whistler, a nasty spiral fracture that required surgery back in Washington. Even that was better at Whistler, there was a great doctor who came up from the village with an IV full of morphine. He followed my sled all the way down to the village checking on me. Yeah, that time I did miss out on 5 more days of a ski vacation.
Mountain biking in summer is great, as is hiking. Love seeing the black bears. The shopping and walking in the village reminds me of Europe, only better. I might have grown up in the Alps, live in the Washington Cascades, dream of Everest, but Whistler always feels like home.
