| storyjay's Full Review: Tremblant |
I'm from Idaho and used to skiing mountains with a 3000ft vertical, and I had to take a double take before going to Tremblant when I discovered the summit is just over 3000 feet. Although this mountain peak is just over a half-mile, it is far enough north to get good snow coverage. I opted to take a Canadian ski vacation for spring break instead of the usual college kid bash in Florida - and was glad I did.
The mountain is by no means part of the Rockies but going to Tremblant offers more than just a hard core ski vacation. There is a nice little resort right at the base of the mountain with all kinds of little shops and taverns. Because the mountain is a great intermediate mountain, people come to Tremblant more for the atmosphere and the night life. We stayed right in the resort (due to a high valued American dollar everything was dirt cheap, the dollar is even better now!) and ventured out every evening for a few beers and just some looking around.
Once you wake up in the morning and hit the slopes you can find a few interesting slopes on what seems to be the outskirts of the mountain. Also, on the back side, a must hit is Dynamite! It's steep...real steep. On the front, I enjoyed Ryan which had some big roller coaster type hills...leading to some air with enough speed.
All in all, it was a great vacation and the town is amazing, but if you are looking for some shin bashing fun, you better head west.
