When I got to this small theater, i felt very out of place. Most of the audience was middle aged, with graying hair. Immediately I thought, maybe I won't enjoy this as much as I thought.
Was I wrong! Though most of the topics I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change addresses dealt with marriage, kids and in-laws, I felt that I could (or would soon be able to) relate perfectly! It was definately very funny, however, it did have a touch of seriousness in a couple of points, like divorce and death. This was very good, because of the way that comedy and death had been combined. For the most part, this is just a light-hearted comedy about relationships, nothing more. The songs and dialogue were well-written and clever. The voices of the actors were not terribly strong, but not bad (for the most part they stayed on key).
The quick-changing scenery was great, and fit into the scenes extremely well. I thought it was great how the actors switched characters in a snap, from one scene to the next (since this whole play is composed of seperate scenes, from dating, to marriage, etc). I definately recommend this play to anyone who wants to just relax and have a good time without deep thoughts and pondering the meaning of life.
I generally don't like small-time off broadway type plays, however, this was just great!
