| ImAmes's Full Review: Walt Disney World Epcot - Germany |
The Germany Pavillion is another favorite of mine simply because I have been interested in Germany since 6th Grade when I started to learn the language. I would take "German" through High School, and was fortunate enough to be in class when the Berlin Wall came down! My teacher got a piece of it, as he has family there, and brought it to class. It was neat to touch a piece of History.
The Germany Attraction centers around a statue of a famous soldier on his horse. It rises out of a small fountain, in the courtyard. There are no films here and no rides, but a GREAT Restaurant and some awesome shopping to make you feel like you are in Germany itself!
"Das Biergarten," the Beer Garden, is a sit-down Restaurant which provides some great entertainment as you dine! I decided to take my daughter and husband there on our last trip, and it was the best place we had ate at in the World Showcase!
You are seated at an old table and chairs, all wood, where they encourage others to sit with you-a great way to meet new people! It is an all-you-can-eat buffet which consists of Brats, saurkraut, small potatoes, old-fashioned potato soup, homemade breads and rolls, and steamed vegetables. They do serve alcohol here, especially Beer! They serve it in the huge Stein Mugs, and will serve your soda in one as well! The entertainment is what makes Germany, Germany! Two chubby men walk out as they blow into long horns to signal the beginning of the show. A Polka Band starts up and everyone starts to clap along! They encourage people to polka, and I BRAVELY take my daughter's hand and we being to polka in front of the dinner crowds! After that, we were served German chocolates in Disney wrappers, a delicious end to a great meal!
Located next the the "Biergarten" is the Teddy Bear and Toy Store. I LOVE this store!!! They have hundreds of Teddy Bears, name brands and all. They sell outfits for the bears, and also accessories. On the other end of the store is of course Disney toys and old tin toys made in Germany-great for any toy collector!
Across the Courtyard is a Clock Shop which has the most beautiful crystal clocks I have ever seen! They also are famous for their Cuckoo Clocks, which they have as well.
Next to the Germany Attraction, is a small replica of a German village with a train running through. This is great for kids who are into building small towns and playing with trains- a unique sight to see!
Stop on by Germany, dance to the Polka Band, buy a teddy bear, and catch the train! And as always, have a wonderful vacation at Walt Disney World!
