Pros: the original birds, the songs
Cons: the tiki god/dess
The Bottom Line: While I wish they did include more of the old birds in the new version, I'm happy that the Tiki Room still lives.

I read many of the other opinions on this attraction and felt a need to defend it. I was a disciple of the old show and am still a fan after the "new management."
First let me tell you about my experiences with the old show. The first time I went to Disney I was 1. It goes without saying that I don't really remember that. I saw it other times during my childhood and it was always a requirement when we went to Disney. By the time I was thirteen I had pretty much memorized "The Tiki Room Song" and "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing." I loved those songs and loved the happy-go-lucky feel of being in that room.
I noticed how things changed when I got a chance to go back when I was 15 with my cousin of the same age. She had never been a big fan of the show, but I insisted that she come with me. We went to the preshow and thought a show had just gone in because there was only about 15 people in the preshow area. That wasn't the case. We went in and there was only about 20 people in the show at about 1:00 during the week after Easter. A good part about this was I had my choice of seats.
I loved the show and sang along with the birds (not loudly, I'm not that annoying), much to the chagrin of my cousin.
But there was something about it that just wasn't enchanted anymore. Part of this was due to the fact that light kept coming in from the outside. That happened because people were getting up and leaving in the middle of the show! I couldn't believe it!
At this point I feared for my beloved Tiki Room. Disney had already closed less popular rides such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. If this show couldn't keep people in the middle of hot day on one of the busiest weeks of the year, how much longer would they keep this one around?
Luckily I heard that they were going to renovate it and change it to include Iago and Zazu. I had high hopes. I thought maybe they would include other birds from other Disney productions, such as the vultures from A Jungle Book and the seagull from Little Mermaid.
I was able go back to Disney two years later and was eager to see the new show. They started with the good old Tiki song and I was happy. Then Iago and Zazu busted in. I thought it was nice, some corny jokes and things. They even had the older birds do a few more things too.
Then it was time for the tiki goddess. This part I didn't really like. She came in with a bunch of thunder and lightning and everything was loud and chaotic. I didn't like the original tiki gods that much so I wasn't a big fan of more in the area of Tiki deities. After she left, they ended with a fun new song.
Overall I think I liked the old one better but I also appreciated the new one. Most of all I'm grateful that Disney decided to try and keep the Tiki Room when they could have easily shut it down.
