pkitch's Full Review: Philips Advantage 5615 X Electric Shaver
I bought this razor after having received gift certificates for the local mall and not being able to find anything else. I would have opted for the more expensive (read flashier) models I had seen both by Norelco, Braun and Phillips, but had been given a sterling recommendation of this product by a friend.
Almost reluctantly I bought this razor, the second I have ever owned (the first was a crappy low-end Remington) and was not expecting to switch to an electric razor over my Mach3 wet razor.
The quality of the unit plus it's packaging is all first class. A couple of nice (but unnecessary) extras are the inclusion of a Velcro closing slip case for the razor itself, a padded toiletry bag which id\s actually quite classy and polythene lined and so will not leak moisture into your suitcase. Also included is an extra packet of the moisturizer sachets that make the main feature of this unit. Again a nice touch.
The razor itself looks great, a matte non-slip finish with a milled stainless steel button on/off toggle button. It looks touch sensitive, but requires a firm positive push. The heads look like they are made of a fancy alloy (and probably are) and ooze quality. The back of the razor has a push and click-on transparent cover which houses the Nivea moisturizer. Here I feel that the unit lacks a little but still competently achieves it task. The cover looks a little less tasteful, and will occasionally come loose also releasing the moisturizer if you are ham fisted like I am. The sachets themselves are also a little finicky, and g\have a small insert that pushes into the end of each sachet, an then this assembly plus into the back top of the unit and the cover snaps on to hold it in place. If you do happen to accidentally release the cover, then everything comes undone.
The moisturizer feature is what makes this razor a winner. The cream is light, yet lubricating and leaves a very fresh feeling with a very subtle scent. The lubricating feature helps for a smoother shave, and helps for those under chin spots wh
