My new car search: Audi A4 3.2

by davlav,
Nov 21 '05 - Updated Feb 10 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Nice interior, smooth V6, confident handling
Cons: Heavy, tight back seat, limited up-front storage space
The Bottom Line: It's a heavy, solid-feeling sedan with a smooth engine, well-appointed interior, and confident all-wheel drive handing. Not perfect, but a fine car none-the-less.

My Search: Before I get to the actual review, I just want to give some context as to what kind of car I am looking for in terms of needs and preferences. This was you’ll have a better basis for how my opinion may or may not fit with your ...

2.0T Quattro surprisingly fun for "entry level" engine

by mdifanis
Feb 10 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 2.0T combines fun performance with reasonable fuel economy. Interior feels like a million bucks.
Cons: Throttle tip-in, but not a problem once you get acclimated to the car.
The Bottom Line: Even the base engine option produces a surprisingly fun and upscale automobile that likes to have fun when a spirited driver takes the wheel.

I recently had a warranty repair completed on my 2002 Audi S8. That car, which I purchased used in 2005, originally sold for right around $80,000. It has Audi's 4.2 liter 40-valve V8 specially tuned to crank out more torque and horsepower than the same ...

Sorry 3-Series - Audi tops the entry level luxury car segment

by branshew
Jun 19 '06 - Updated Dec 29 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior, styling, power from 4 cyl engine, Quattro, etc...
Cons: Aluminum trim reflections, large key fob, poor dealer service, no multi-function computer on base model
The Bottom Line: A top contender for entry level luxury sedan, this car offers performance, luxury, styling, and safety in a small package.

Let me first begin by saying that this is an excellent car. Audi has taken some major leaps forward with the new B7 model A4 and they may have the best small luxury vehicle out there with this car. If you are looking at the 3-Series or C-Class then you ...

2006 Audi Avant is worth the price

by skid00skid00
Oct 14 '05 - Updated May 01 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very good or great in all categories-MPG, lighting, performance, fit and finish.
Cons: Expensive. More autobahn than autocross.
The Bottom Line: A very good, sporty, and economical luxury wagon. If you want high-tech AWD, there are no other good choices.

Six Month Review First, a warning. Your local dealer will be a huge part of your ownership experience. If you have a bad dealer (as I do), you will regret owning this car. Be sure to verify your dealer's reputation via online forums, the Better ...

Fun car to lease

by threxx
Sep 28 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fuel economy, capable and predictable handling, fun acceleration, PERCEIVED quality
Cons: ACTUAL quality - squeaks & rattles, road noise, engine noise.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this car to own. There are some great lease deals available, though - go for one of those and it's great!

So why do I qualify 'fun car' with 'to lease'? Because everything I have learned of Audi over the years even before I leased this car pointed me toward Audi being a relatively unreliable car manufacturer. My experiences thus far have caused me to ...

2006 Audi A4 Avant ... 2 years and still smiling!

by nhstan
Nov 19 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Well built, reliable, and tight as a drum.
Cons: Limited rear seat room. A few minor ergonomic slips.
The Bottom Line: A sporty and economical all wheel drive car. If the size fits you, you can't go wrong with this Audi.

My 2006 Audi A4 Avant wagon was purchased new in October of 2005. It's an all wheel drive ... or "Quattro" as Audi calls it ... set up with the turbo four cylnder engine and a six speed "Tiptronic" automatic transmission. I usually do my car ...

2006 Audi A4 Quatro 2.0T

by tomstachura
Sep 13 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: More power, power seats with memory, rain sensing wipers, dual xenon lights.
Cons: Had to be fixed right away, unusual steering, hard to control initial acceleration.
The Bottom Line: I think 2006 A4 is the best option right now in the class of all wheel drive near-luxury sedan. Looking forward to the BMW 325xi coming out.

I just picked up my new 2006 A4 a couple of weeks ago with most of the conveniences offered (except the navigation system and the ski sack). I drove the two previous A4 models (2001 and 2003), so my review will concentrate mainly on the differences. ...

A Reasonable Priced AWD Daily Car

by frankchan
Oct 20 '09

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Styling.  Good engine power and torque.  All weathers traction.  Decent handling.
Cons: Light steering and not as sharp as rival.  Awkward auto-transmission.  Heavy chassis (Quattro).
The Bottom Line:

If you looks for all weather traction and luxury, this should match your need.   Get an V6 if refinement is one of your concern.

Introduction First-of-all, I have clarified that I don’t own an Audi A4.  I borrowed my friend’s A4 for some times (3 months) and my experience is based on that. 2006 Audi A4 (B7) is a revised version based previous ...

What a disappointment!

by rottersclub
Dec 01 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Great traction with snow tires and Quattro. Cool features in the premium package.
Cons: Way overpriced. Avoid the automatic transmission. Poor fuel economy for a 4 cylinder engine.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this car - it is overpriced for what you get. There are much better cars for significantly less money available.

Sorry to dissent, but what a disappointment my Audi A4 Quattro 2.0 T has been. The biggest problem for me is the automatic transmission combined with the the 4 cylinder engine. The transmission insists on shifting way too soon (to improve fuel economy ...

Luxury + Power

by vaca
Apr 18 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable and adequate power
Cons: Too big to be a true sports car
The Bottom Line: Perfect merge of sport and luxury.

This car marked my entrance into the luxury car market and I have to say that Audi has hit a gold mine with this car. It perfectly bridges the comforts of leather seats, fancy trim, and Bose audio system with the power of a 2.0 liter turbo engine and ...

Auto Transmission Is A Problem

by rowsbypal
Jan 05 '07 - Updated Jan 19 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Pretty, great interior, great in the snow, good handling.
Cons: Hesitant transmission, engine noise sounds cheap, auto is not as fun as the manual.
The Bottom Line: Buy the manual transmission. If you want an auto, consider the BMW or Infiniti G35.

I had a 2003 A4 Avant 3.0 quattro, loved it. It had sex appeal, drove great and felt like a great car. It was a bit sluggish at high altitudes and gas mileage was lower than what I wanted. I traded that for a 2006 A4 2.0T quattro sedan with auto ...

Love my 6 month old car!
by Audrey75
Oct 29 '06
Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Handles wonderfully, controls are intuitive, sleek styling, leather is smooth and clean, fuel efficient
Cons: Voice commands poor, cup holders awkward, cannot disable heated seat controls in rear for kids
I have driven in all conditions but snow. Handles great. Have used the ABS and it stops immediately. Have enjoyed having the car and would buy Audi again. The value, performance, and styling combined make it a no brainer. The dealer sold us the electronic package because we wanted the XM and Bose sound system. The voice commands for the telephone do not work terribly well. I find that the Bluetooth has to be enabled by manually dialing your phone and then it is good to go. Audi put a charger for their stock cell phone in the armrest which cannot be removed and takes up quite a bit of space. The wheels are constantly dirty. Just carry a spare rag to clean at the gas station. The heated seats warm up quickly. The glove box is very roomy. The car in a gem and I know I made the right choice!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Great overall sports sedan. Understated but has "great heart".
Cons: Back seats are pokey.
I purchased a 3.2 liter Audi A4 in the summer of 2005, and have not regretted it ever. Great handling gives me complete confidence in the worst and most slippery conditions. The 250 odd horsepower is more than enough to leave a few embarrased BMWs inhaling your exhaust. The traction is superb, the interior comfortable but not ostentatious, and tiptronic is an added bonus. Why bother with an S4 when this does 95% of the job for 60% of the price!

Great Car, fun to drive, reasonably priced
by mjposner
Jul 07 '06
Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Underseat drawers, quality materials, attractive design
Cons: somewhat finicky take up on throttle
Just purchased an 2006 Audi A4 2.0T with six speed manual transmission. Car was basic with only leather and sunroof as options. Almost immediately drove her on a 2,800 mile trip from Florida to New York. Flawless performance with highway gas mileage averaging 80mph at 32 mpg.

Car was comfortable, quiet and easy to drive. Tranny shifts great and she is a delight to drive. As a daily driver I prefer her to my 2002 M3 (though I miss the extra power...).

I upgraded the 16" wheels to 18" (still to big a wheel arch gap though, will need to lower her 1") and I easily installed the nav radio for about $1,200 complete, plug and play (ebay).

Dealer will install a chip for $600 to liberate 20% more power next month, can't wait!
