New 2006 in Mid 2007 - Great Value, if you can find it

by lawman67 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200
Mar 24 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very deep discounts on 2006 models. Basically same truck as 2007.
Cons: Very limited 2006 selection as of March 2007
The Bottom Line: Everything that makes the 2007 F-150 top of its class is just as true of the 2006, along with $2500 higher rebates.

Three-weeks-ago I bought a 2007 Ford F-150 XL pickup truck. An even better value, if you can find what you want, is a leftover 2006, of which some do remain on dealer lots as of March 2007. I came extremely close to buying one myself. The truck I ...

Comparison to 1997-2003 models: VERY FAVORABLE

by f14chum
Jan 30 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Solid performer, responsive, quiet interior, deep bed, many improvements over 1997-2003 design
Cons: Low beams focused too close, minor form & fit issues
The Bottom Line: Confident ride on & off-road; fantastic track record. Much improved safety rating. Love it!

For those who own a 1997-2003 model and are considering a 2004-2007 (new body style / design), these observations on the design changes may help you in your decision. I'll keep each comment brief, as there are many interesting points to discuss. My ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: roomy, comfortable, smooth ride, plenty of power
Cons: bad gas milage
The Bottom Line: Its a great truck and very reliable. I would recomend it.

After visiting the 2006 International Auto Show in Columbus, Ohio, I knew that my next big purchase was going to be a King Ranch F-150 4-door crew cab truck. I expected it to be roomy, and comfortable, with a smooth ride, and full of options. I had ...

The Number One Seller for a Reason...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Ride -- Very Comfortable Seats -- Smooth, Quiet Engine -- Luxurious Yet Rugged.
Cons: Could Use More Power -- I Can't Think of Anything Else.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the F-150. Superior handling, ride quality, ruggedness and looks makes this a great truck.

For the past decade I've been driving both a Dodge Ram and a Toyota 4Runner. This past year I wanted to get rid of them both and get one vehicle, and I settled on the Ford F-150. With my trade-ins I was able get into a Lariat model, which is somewhat ...

Good truck, could be even better

Jun 24 '06 - Updated Jun 28 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good crash test results; ride quality; "middle of the road" styling
Cons: No stability control or side airbags offered; limited storage compartments
The Bottom Line: Recommended. Despite a few shortcomings, beats the competition where it counts most (safety, structural design, pricing, configurations).

A review from the perspective of buying one used in 2009

by kingtj
Apr 12 '09

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Does what you need a truck to do, at a reasonable price.
Cons: Gas mileage with V6 is "poor", and V8 models go from "even worse" to "ouch".
The Bottom Line: I recommend it, if you need to haul or tow things.  If not, other vehicles make more sense.

I just purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 XL pickup, used, from a local Ford dealership.  I don't have a need for towing anything, but I owned a Ford Ranger pickup back in 1999-2000, and missed the usefulness of having a truck as a second vehicle. When ...

Great Truck

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Rides great, looks great
Cons: Half size doors a pain in tight quarters
The Bottom Line: I would not hesitate to buy another Ford Truck, because the other Ford truck I owed was just as awesome as the new one.

2006 F150 4X4 super cab XLT 6.5' Bed Black, grey Interior tinted back side window and sliding rear window. Bed liner. I had to replace my 1994 F150 XLT super cab because a squirrel got up underneath the hood and chewed up all the wiring and hoses. he ...

Ford F150 needs mobile gas station with it.

by dread1124

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very powerful 5.4L V8 Engine, Comfortable seats, Deep bed, and easy lift tailgate.
Cons: Disgusting fuel economy, occasionally jerky ride and limited room under rear seats.
The Bottom Line: Other than fuel economy, this is a great vehicle. No wonder the F150 is the best selling truck in America. If you NEED a truck, this is it.

Let me start with the fuel economy…. Yes, yes, yes! I know it’s a work truck and it will not give me car like mile per gallon, but the sticker on the vehicle had 18MPG average on the highway. Yea right! No matter how I try it, even with the K&N filters ...

Shoulda got a V8!
by myka

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No
Pros: Decent mpg, the a/c is cold
Cons: no power, bland looking
My father recently bought a 2006 F150. 4.2 v6 single cab long bed. He traded in a '98 firebird v6 5speed. I have no idea why, because he has no use for a truck. I've driven the truck quite a bit and can say that it drives like a taurus rather than a truck. The v6 has no business in a truck. It accelerates the same regardless of RPM. And has no power. At 25000 miles now, it acts like it is having a violent seizure whenever you hit a small bump.

All this could be forgiven if it had a nice powerful engine. But the upside is that it hasnt had any problems.

Pros: great safety, more american than any other vehicle
Cons: horrific fuel mileage, brake rotors are crap, front end shimmy
hood is aluminum, not too smart for hail prone regions! many awesome features set this truck apart from the competition. 5 star crash rating driver and passenger is assuring. this truck is built with more american made parts than any other new vehicle. however... my front rotors were warped badly after only 40K. replacements set me back a lot. they were very hard to locate too. i think they may have overheated from towing a trailer cross country but not sure. new rotors seem to be pulsing slightly already and I have not towed anything
