Pros: Roomier and better-handling than other large crossovers Cons: Exterior proportions, low second row, third row access, busy ride, not fun to drive The Bottom Line: I'm just not able to get excited about this one. But among semi-affordable three-row crossovers, it is the most entertaining to drive.
I currently use a Mazda Protege5 to transport three kids on a daily basis. My wife would prefer I substitute something larger, preferably with three rows of seats. I can see her point, but I insist on something fun to drive. Perhaps Mazda's new CX-9 ...

Pros: speedy, cute, roomy, quiet, all the bells and whistles without the luxury price Cons: User manual didn't come with instructions for navigation and blue tooth The Bottom Line: Buy this car! You will be the coolest Mom on the block!
Wanting to get out of your giant SUV but need more room than a car? Too cool to drive a mini-van? Need a little "zoom" when hauling the children? This is the car for you! More pick-up than the Acadia; all the luxury of the Mercedes R series without being ...

Pros: Styling, flexibility, size, comfort, driving experience Cons: Small individual storage spaces, limited inventory The Bottom Line: This is an excellent vehicle. It offers the features of a higher-end car at a much more modest price range.
We recently purchased the CX-9 FWD Grand Touring with Navigation, Moonroof and auto-dimming mirror to replace my 2004 Highlander. I cannot be happier with my purchase. Interior: The controls are exactly where you would want them to be, and even ...

Pros: Excellent build quality. Car like handling. Cons: Gas consumption very poor so far. Slower than expected up gear shifts The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. Car like handling. Extra-ordinary build quality. Thirsty on gas.
OK. So just picked up my new Mazda CX-9 (2007 model - 3.5 V6). Thought I'd review the car from the first 3 days of owning it. Overall, very impressed with the build quality and feels really well put together. These cars are made in Japan and shipped ...

Pros: Handling, style, value, safety gear, third row, access to third row, interior (on GT) Cons: Could use more power, no rear sensors (but a backup camera is available), The Bottom Line: Yes- definitely.
We have shopped this car against the Acadia, XC90, Odyssey,Highlander, Pilot and Sienna. First, it obviously has less room than a minivan, but it is more fun to drive (handling) and it is much sharper looking. It has less room than the Acadia but again ...

Pros: Smooth and responsive powertrain, sports car handling, quality interior, many amenities are standard. Cons: A little stiff on bumpy roads but it is an amazingly responsive vehicle. The Bottom Line: Test Drive it and then try not to buy it!
Bought the CX-9 Grand Touring front wheel drive. I have been driving it now for over a month now and I must say I am very pleased indeed!!! Test drove all of the competing SUV's from Outlook to MDX and for the money you can't find a better buy on the ...

Pros: Handling, interior, back seat room, kids can climb in easily, standard features, price Cons: No on-star, doors don't auto lock The Bottom Line: Get a CX-9! You will love the way it drives and the price is a steal for such an equipped car.
We've had this car for a month now and couldn't be happier. It's a black, AWD - Sport model without all the bells and whistles. What surprised my husband and I most about this car is how big it is inside, yet appears small on the outside. We also have ...

Pros: Nice looking, reasonable 3rd row, lots of power, Pilot Highlander alternative. Cons: Less cargo space, costs more than MPV / Caravan. Used Freestyle much cheaper The Bottom Line: Very nice non-wierd non-plain Japanese 3-row crossover SUV for style, performance. Still more expensive than used MPV, Caravan or Freestyle.

This SUV is very hard to distinguish from the CX-7, but it's completely different. It has a 6 instead of a turbo 4, the grille and panel lines are all same-looking but different when you ...

Mazda CX9 is all that and more!

Pros: Easy to access third row. Smooth transmission. Keyless entry and engine starting. Cons: No backup sensors. No mpg computer.
I just bought a used 2007 Grand Touring CX9 with 7000 miles on it and I love it. I have every option except AWD, power liftgate and remote start. This car is great. The transmission is silky smooth. Even though it has a FORD motor, the transmission makes it feel like a luxury car engine. The navigation and bluetooth work well and are a must have features. The BOSE 5.1 is the best sounding stereo that I have ever heard in a car. The Third row is easy to access because the middle row slides forward (Even with baby car seats in the middle row!). The xenon headlights are super bright and can be adjusted with a little switch to compensate for heavy loads in the car. The backup camera is great and makes parallel parking a breeze! The fit and finish inside and out are top notch. The keyless entry works great; only wish that they had a push button start. The seats are comfortable and tri zone climate control ensures that everyone is comfortable.

Zoom Zoom!

Pros: Lots and lots of space, fast and cool standard features. Price is reasonable. Cons: Because is such a fun and fast drive, gas refills are more often.
I purchased my CX-9 three weeks ago and each time I get in it and drive, I am convinced that I made the right choice. I needed cargo space, but did not want to purchase a truck and really didn't want an SUV. This car met my needs and more. I get compliments on it from friends and strangers. It's so easy to drive. My only problem with it, is that it is fast and the ride is so smooth that it is so easy to drive past the speed limit without even knowing it. I probably will have to change out the brake pads more often because I'm constantly stepping on the brakes to slow down. No regrets other than I wish I had bought the higher end model. Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

Love my CX9 (beware of the tires)

Pros: I love everything about the car. Cons: Tires
I bought my CX9 a couple months ago. It is a 2wd, copper red. Navigation system. DVD. Hands-free phone. Love it. However, while driving on a trip to Branson, MO, this past Friday, my left rear tire went flat. I didn't know it until a motorist pulled along side and told me my tire was "on fire." Needless to say, the tire was ruined. I was 210 miles from home, and the manual advised that the temporary spare be driven on for only short distances. The tires on the car are Dueler H/L 400, P245/50 R20. In trying to find a replacement, I was told the tire is an "odd size" and that it had been discontinued. What!?
After spending all day Saturday trying to locate a tire, a Mazda Rep finally got a dealer in a nearby city who would remove a tire from a car on the lot and install it on mine.....costing me $219, plus $90 for an extra night's lodging. It is disturbing that tires are not readily available for a car that has less than 3,000 miles on it. Perhaps that is not unusual, and I'm just inexperienced and naive.

Mazda CX-9 - The Kidney Buster

Pros: Great legroom and cargo capacities. Cons: Harsh, bumpy & jarring ride. Not fun to drive. Consider other vehicles for the money.
Terrible vehicle to drive. Test drove this vehicle a few weeks ago. Very bumpy & jarring ride (hence the nickname "The Kidney Buster" given by my husband). Fit and finish were OK, nothing great for the money. Plenty of legroom and cargo capacity. Not really fun to drive. Felt like a big vehicle while driving. Test drove the Acura MDX about and hour before, and it blew the CX-9 away.
