An Excellent Alternative to Point-and-Shoot !

by qmac2000 , Jul 27 '02
Pros: Light weight, Ease of use, wide range of functions, Spot metering.
Cons: None really, see review.
I was using a full feature auto-zoom point & shoot camera and I was not happy with the image quality. So I looked on ebay and found this camera for about $50 dollars more than I paid for my point&shoot! I had handled one at Wal-mart and I was impressed...

Plenty of features for the money

by haspelbein , Jun 05 '02
Pros: Excellent Metering, Convenient Preset Modes, Low weight
Cons: Plastic Feel, Expensive Batteries
I used to own a Maxxum 5000. Compared with the STSi, it was a black, heavy metal clunker with the typical 80s SLR design.

There were two reasons I said goodbye to the 5000:

a) Light metering has made many advancements in recent...

by glitterkitty27 , Nov 16 '03
Pros: Easy, durable, and has many different modes so you can catch the frame you want
Cons: none
I bought the minolta maxxum STsi 35mm right when it came out about three years ago or so. I remember that it was highly acclaimed by all the photo magazines and i thought that it would be a good pick. I love this camera so much! I can be switched from man ...

Great Camera

by stan_pustylnik , Jan 04 '02
Pros: Easy to use, sharp AF, multiple functions, Panorama option, Date printing on photos
Cons: Little slow AF in low light conditions
I bought this camera after my baby girl was born and pictures that I did using my old, cheep, APS Nikon turned back disappointing.
I decided to buy SLR camera with different features.
So, I did research on web, listened my friends, and after...

A handy light weight /inexpensive SLR for everyone

by advisor02 , Dec 13 '02
Pros: Light weight, Low price-if bought on internet, easy use
Cons: Flash is not very accurate in sensing auto flash situations. Manual control required sometimes.
If you want an SLR and always thought its too much pro stuff and not wanting to carry something that bulky, I would say this one will be fine. Its not a very durable body. Got to take care of it without banging it all over. The lens is also very...

Minolta Stsi Maxxum Camera

by Cleavenger , Feb 11 '02
Pros: Easy to use, and has several useful features.
Cons: Built in flash doesn't yield that great of results.
I bought the Minolta Maxxum STsi camera about 7 months ago and I have been using it pretty heavily ever since. I've been very happy with the camera and picture results.

This camera can be used in fully automatic mode or in fully manual...

Minolta...no thanks

by mazdaprotwo , Jan 18 '02
Pros: Price
Cons: Not so good metering system.
Here it is....I like minolta, but do I love them? Heck no. I bought this camera a few months ago. This camera is good but not great. Minolta really needs to work on the metering system in this camera. Some pictures come out dark some come out too light....

by fltag_dt3000 ,Oct 04 '02
I have used this camera for close-up and distant photos. The quality of the camera is exceptional; the functionality of the camera is total, yet easy to use. Whether I am using the 20/80 or 80/500 lenses, the photo quality is great. Two trips to Alaska in two years and over 1,500 photos have proven this camera's ability in the category. Keep up the great work Minolta.

I had never owned a...
by debbi_dt3000 ,Aug 09 '02
I had never owned a 35mm before, and was looking for one to take with me on a trip to Sweden. I wanted to be sure That I would have pictures that were memorable. My Husband suggested this camera for me. At first I was intimidated by all of the functions, but soon became at ease as I played with it. I love that it is totally automatic for point and shoot situations, yet can be over-ridden when I want to be in control. I am now looking to buy a second body to go with all of the lenses I have since purchased.
