Pioneer VSX-33TX 5.1 Channels Receiver

I got it used from a well cared for owner. I have only had it for few days and only with music CD.

I was lucky enough to buy with the matching Elite DVD player. I have played it through my DIY speaker of high quality.

The sound is excellent, clear, good overall tone, true clean bass. Totally silent without a background noise. The unit is well built. More than satisfied. I have yet to try the DVD however.

I purchased this receiver to replace my aging pioneer VSX 557. I was impressed with the sound of this unit and it's clean sound. I have the complete set of energy take 5.2 speakers with the sub and it produces a great sound. I paid $400 dollars for this unit and that's great for THX post processing. DTS on this unit sounds as good as any of the high end Dennon's I listen to at the local good guys. However, I had to test this unit against higher end equipment using the Star wars DVD Phantom Menace-THX. Play this DVD on the VSX 33TX and turn-on the THX function and you will buy it too. It sounds great just as good as units costing twice as much and your saving hundreds of dollars. Make sure you have some good speakers for this unit. My hat's off to Pioneer for giving THX at such a low cost. There was a recall on these units, make sure theirs a white dot tag on the back of this unit meaning the defective chips have replaced.
