Pros: Fast! 4 DIMM sockets. 4 IDE ports! Cons: Slightly odd size, screw positioning. May be hard to find.
I recently decided to upgrade from my ASUS A7M266 and Athlon 1.2 Ghz processor, and after doing extensive research at AnandTech and on the newsgroup message boards, I opted to try an ABIT board again for the first time in four years.
Pros: A worthy successor to the KA7 Cons: None so far
Ok, my old K7A-100 (RAID) board from Abit started to act up last week. Bad news! Wouldn't boot properly, would stay up on any operating system and would randomly reboot and hang. Not good at all... so on my spare system I researched the motherboards...
Pros: Great Expandability, stability, DDR SDRAM support. Cons: Almost unnecessary extra memory slot.
Overview
When I decided to build my own computer about 3 months ago, I have made a decision in which I would like to have my computer powered by an AMD Duron Processor. I chose the AMD Duron processor is because of its performance,...
Pros: 4 DDR slots, AMD 761, RAID, No jumpers, 8 IDE ATA100, AGPx4 - just prefect Cons: No automatic control of the CPU fan speed
I was upgrading my PC with Athlon 1.4GHz and looked around for good motherboards which would be of use to me for long.
I bought this board because it was with the best performance and flexibility. Let me list the features with explanations.

although expensive when purchased 18 months ago i believe i have had my moneys worth from it. it did not like win me or 98 but xp pro is very stable and even has all the drivers in it. i found i had cooling troubles with the old 1gig cpu but when i put the 2 gig in and fitted the board in a full tower case the temperature dropped dramatically. it averages around 42C. i would have no hesitation in recommending this board to anyone. one thing i found strange is that when you flash the bios you have to unzip the bin file before putting it on the floppy that you intend using (very strange). it would also help if abit supplied ribbon cables long enough to use in a full tower case. OVERALL A GREAT MOTHERBOARD.
I have had this motherboard for a year now and have gone through much hardware as I am constantly upgrading it. Using Windows XP makes it that much more stable. Everything I throw at this board is easily accepted and swallowed up as if the hardware was made for it. I have installed many network connections from coax to RJ45 LAN to dial up modems. I have installed GeForce2 , 3 and now 4 and it just keeps them running smooth and without any LAG even when connected via dial-up. I have an Audigy sound card which is one of the best sounding systems I have built yet. The only think I have noticed a problem with is the extreme heat produced with the AMD athlon XP chips. Make sure you have ample ventilation or you will fry your chip. My brother forewarned me to get a case before I even thought about operating any system on this board. I did and have had nothing but success stories to tell since.
Overall I have to say I am pleased with this Board. It does has it few quirks, however it is a superior overclocker. I overclocked my 1400 TBird to 1530 with the most agressive memory timings.
**** Advice pay attention to the Irq if you are planning to install the Sound Blaster Audigy. If you install the sound card on the same irq as the Hard drive controller you will have problems.*****
