Pros: excellent graphics engine, sound, fast paced gameplay Cons: lack of environments, repetitive, too short, lacks buildup
Ive read most of the reviews out there on the internet, and Ive broken it down into two general consensus regarding the Doom 3 game. One side for the most part has criticized the Doom 3 gameplay as overly repetitive after the first 2 ...
Pros: Extreme graphics, intense gameplay, 'playable' on mid-range systems, 'coolness' factor Cons: Expensive, steep system requirements, dark graphics, not much beyond the traditional shooter theme (DOOM)
"When it's done!" This vague timeline and sporadic rumors made this one of the most anticipated games of 2003 and eventually 2004. Well, it's apparently done and August 2004 is the month of truth. Was DOOM 3 worth the wait (and money), or is it just ...
Pros: Good graphics, good story and familiar FPS controls Cons: Requires very powerful PC, graphics too dark, won't run with emulation software
After a very long wait Id Software has finally released Doom 3 after much anticipated hype and marketing. I would have really loved to love this game as I was completely addicted to the 1995 predecessor Doom II. After playing the game for about three ...
Pros: Graphics, Storyline, PDA System Cons: Difficulty, Too much Darkness, Enclosed Environments, Weapon Effectiveness, Sound Quality Issues
Just a disclaimer before reading this review: I have never been a big fan of playing first person shooters online or anything like that, so you won't find anything in this review about the death match feature of Doom 3. I usually buy the game to play by ...
Pros: Graphics, sound, mood, freaky-awesome Cons: Omit the pros and it's a plain shooter
Doom 3 is a game about "almosts but not-quite's" in just about every aspect. Despite that and all it entails, it's indeed a very good game and one that needed to come out. Doom 3 brings something new and refreshing to the FPS (first person shooter) ...
Before it came out this was one of the most anticipated games and the anticipation was only intensified by id software's "it'll came out when it's ready" attitude. Personally, I wasn't bothered by all the hype and waiting Doom 3 release was not a problem ...
Pros: New weapons, new monsters, more fun than the original Doom 3. Cons: Steep difficulty curve, still hasn't fixed all of Doom 3's shortcomings.
Well, after a somewhat disappointing original game, id has teamed up with Nerve Software to bring us a second helping of Doom 3 goodness. id's original offering was gob smackingly spectacular in the eye candy department, but it's myriad gameplay ...
Pros: Ranks high on creepiness. Cons: Program crashes even with the updates; artificial intelligence is weak; too repetitive and predictable.
This review is for the single-player portion of Doom 3 for Windows. I purchased Doom 3 because I was bored. It was resold after a week. Doom 3 is definitely a step ahead of its earlier versions, complete with improved graphics, 'movies', 3D sound, ...
Pros: It looks and sounds amazing. Cons: It's graphics are 2005, but its gameplay is 1991.
Doom 3 is the groundbreaking sequel to the equally groundbreaking original title (or titles, if you consider Doom 2 to be a proper sequel rather than a glorified expansion pack), and it delivers on many of the goodies that were promised in the ...
Pros: Amazing Graphics, good use of PDAs, sound effects. Cons: A tad linear, flashlight, steep system requirements.
Accidently Deleted it, so I am reposting it. Doom3 was in production for so long people didnt know what to expect when it first came out. There was so much talk about it, you had no idea what to expect from it. Finally though it was released and ...
Pros: graphic beyond cool, amazing sound, remake of a classic, now available for less money Cons: sometimes too dark, limited gameplay
Why write a review for DOOM 3, a game now being over 2 years old? Well, first of all, it's still available in the stores, and secondly, because I like too. This is going to be a long one, so sit back and relax and (hopefully) enjoy a narrative ride ...
Pros: Original Doom story still intact, fun weapons, some levels interesting, room keys. Cons: Poor lighting, atmosphere, monsters, often got stuck, strength of enemies.
(quote from original Doom located in Episode 4 map 7) I feel it to be essential to my credibility in this review to state that I have been a fan of the original Doom for over ten years and have memorized all the levels and suitably macabre episode ...
Pros: Great graphics and effects, surprise elements. Cons: Perpetual darkness can be aggravating.
Doom 3 July 2006 My PC: Gateway with dual core AMD cpu with Nvidia Geforce 6100. 1GB ram. This video card is a "real" video card however it uses shared system RAM, which is slower than the video ram, or VRAM used on video cards. CoD works just fine ...
Pros: Amazing graphics and sound, good story, scary atmosphere, fun gameplay, great for modders Cons: Weak multiplayer, can repetative, some cheap scares, can be too dark

Pros: Great Graphics and sounds. Cons: Bad A.I. level design is bland.

Pros: Length of single player, graphics, game play Cons: Same old same old, artificial intelligence of enemies is extremely weak
I recently completed playing the full version of Doom 3 for the PC. I ran it on a 2.0 mhz Athlon processor, 512 MB internal memory, 128 MB video graphics accelerator. I believe the recommended setting was normal, not best. Even on normal, the ...
Pros: -Something new to play Cons: -Long, repetitive, dull, not scary...should I go on?
Doom 3 was one of the most anticipated games of 2004. In development for four years, it built up a huge fanbase long before it was even released. Along with Halo 2 and Half-Life 2, it made up a third of the Big Three First-Person Shooters of that summer. ...
Pros: Mindblowing graphics and sound, VERY creepy atomopshere. Amazing overall feel. Cons: Weapon sounds arent beefy enough-not a lot else.
INTRO: So we come to Doom-3. the very mention of this title over the past 4 years has been enough to make any gamer worth his salt want to mainline the hyperbolehyde, knock back 50 mls of metaphorazine and start ranting about the possibilities of ...
Pros: Phenominal graphics and sound, smooth plot line Cons: Sparce ammo, predictable gameplay
There have been various and sundry reviews on this game, and I feel like its my duty to put my two cents in on the situation. Doom 3 was a pet-project at team ID, kept secret for a very long time. While it was kept a secret, it really didn't get worked ...
Pros: graphics, sound, there's actually a storyline to follow, hidden secrets Cons: little slow getting to initial action, no free roaming option, some stoic voice acting
One of the most anticipated PC games ever is finally out: Doom 3. We picked it up as soon as it was available and it didn't take my son and I long to become immersed in the new layout and storyline. The basic storyline is you are a marine on mars and ...
Pros: The scariest game ever. Looks like a film. It's DooM Cons: Consistanly dark environments. Fairly basic gameplay. Bad multiplayer. System requirements.
It's been well over two years since I last wrote a review of a game here on Epinions. Why? You may well ask. Well, there are a number of personal factors, including graduation, work and social life etc., the details of which are irrelevant. Time has been ...
Pros: Jaw dropping graphics, excellent sound, good overall atmosphere. Cons: Linear, repetitive gameplay, very limited replay value.
I do have a soft spot for the Doom series. I think that the original Doom was one of those games that became a sort of social rite of passage for nerds of my generation. In middle school, the vaunted 'alpha geek' status was constantly shifting ...
Pros: Nice lighting effects. The Doom name. Cons: Way too ambitious for the average PC. Too dark. Sound is wimpy. Price!
So. Doom 3. The much-delayed, much-anticipated 3D shoot-em-up tour-de-force has finally arrived. I'll say right up front that the only real complaint I have is that iD Software have employed my pet bugbear to the extreme - dark levels. Sure the ...
Pros: Great remake of a classic, unbelievable graphics, great story, eerie and effective scare techniques, etc.. Cons: steep requirements, no co-op yet, and multiplayer needs better coding
Doom is a classic shooter by id Software, one that has revolutionzed the gaming industry. Halo, Half-life, none of these would ever exist if Doom had not caused first person shooters to be noticed. Doom has been a long running series of games, from Doom, ...
Pros: A genuine SP experience; Gorgeous graphics; Sound to die for. Cons: Sub-par performance on ATI cards; Limited multiplayer capability.
From the Beginning 4 years of development is an unusually long time for a game. However, Doom 3 is not just a game. This game represents a new era of PC gaming that only happens ever so often. When the first Doom came out for the PC back in 1991, it ...
Introduction Back in 1994, id software released the original DOOM for the IBM PC. At the time, computers with 60 megahertz processors and 8 megabytes of RAM were considered top of the line. And at the time, Doom was considered revolutionary. It ...
Pros: Incredible graphics
Mood altering environments
Great single player experience
Cons: More continuity with the story/events
Additional variety to enemy A.I.
If you're like me and are kind of tired of the "dime a dozen" multiplayer games that have inundated the market in recent years, and would instead appreciate a game dedicated to providing a thrilling single player experience, than don't hesitate in ...
Pros: Great graphics and sound, good weapons, creepy atmosphere. Cons: The atmosphere lasts only shortly, gameplay clumsy and mostly boring & repetitive.
Doom 3 was supposed to be a close competitor to Half Life 2, FarCry and other great shooters that were already on the market, but it really disappointed me. But lets start off factually: Graphics are really great, but also come hand in hand with ...
Pros: The graphics, the sound, lights and shadows! Cons: Not everyone's style of first person shooter
In 1993, id released probably the most influential game in the history of video games. Everyone has heard about and people still love it to this day. That game was Doom. With graphics and gameplay that was said to have given some people motion sickness ...
Pros: Beautiful Backgrounds, lots to press and touch. Cons: Poor replayability, wimpy weapons, too confining to be interesting, too short.
The original Doom and Doom 2 were games that I played with gusto in my University days. Having only played primitive games like Castle Wolfenstein, Doom 2 set the standard with its graphics and game play. I looked forward to play the new version of ...
Pros: Amazing graphics, good thriller, realistic and fun. Cons: Very graphic, lacks replay value, anti-climatic, and somewhat repetitive.
Doom 3, the re-imagination of the classic Doom, combines modern graphics, audio systems and physics engines into a surreal first-person shooter. Even two years out of it's release Doom 3's graphics make even most new PC games look old and outdated. ...
Pros: Great feel, great look, great sounds Cons: Everything gets old, nothing special after a while (just a shooter)
Ah yes, the next coming of id's series of Doom games. Doom 3 was heavily anticipated. id software raved about its graphics, sounds, rag doll physics, shadows, textures, so on and so forth. But was their raving puffery? Or did they truly end up with the ...
Pros: Graphics... that's about it. Cons: The hype, the gameplay.
Alright, for those of you who are thinking to buy it, you better be damn sure you won't be regretting doing so. Here's the game play. Run. Shoot. Repeat. Nope, I didn't forget dodge. You simply really can't, the corridors a little too narrow for ...
Pros: Graphics and sound are awesome! Cons: You may have to upgrade your hardware.
Well, Doom 3 came out last Friday the sixth, and hit the shelves at a whopping $54.99. And this weekend Fry's has a sale on Doom 3 for $43.99, and comes to like $47 after tax. They had a ton of them in stock at the Fry's in Plano, and said they've been ...
Pros: Unbelivabe Graphics and sound, solid gameplay, decent multiplayer, very scary! Cons: Not much innovation, same stroy as original (remake)
Doom 3 has been anticipated for a long time. Its a good game but the problem lies in what the other Doom (and anything created by ID software) games have done. They all have revolutionized the FPS geanre. But does DOOM 3? The answer, sadly, is no. ...
Pros: some of the best in-game cinematography to date Cons: not polished, generic, graphics could have been better, more interaction
Given Doom 3 is fun and the graphics are nice, but all this hype just for a game that's not much beyond FarCry leaves me wanting more. I loved FarCry because it was one of the first CG-like FPS and it ran really well on my machine with high graphic ...
Pros: The Best Quality Graphics ever made. Cons: None.
I am a big fan of ID's video games. They are up there amongst the all time greats, like Half Life & Far Cry & Call of Duty. DOOM 3 is the latest of ID's extremely well produced software. I think Doom 3 is groundbreaking stuff & is undoubtedly the ...
Introduction One of the most hyped computer games of 2004, finally managed to find its way to my desktop. After surviving a few fights with my wife and after she finally managed to uninstall it from my system, I get time to write this review on Doom ...
Pros: Graphics are excellent Cons: Story is derivative and boring
No Innovation
I was more than excited when ID announced Doom 3. I spent my youth playing Doom 1 and Doom 2, appreciating the innovation of both of those games. So, as you would expect, I went out and bought Doom 3 the day it was released. Installation ...
Pros: Pretty, good adherence to the old monsters and weapons, quite nostalgic Cons: Nothing especially interesting, needs a hot graphics card, I expected more
As someone who has played all the Doom and Quake variants, I looked forward to Doom 3. In short, I found it to be an excellent tribute to the original game. Most of the original critters are in there and have been updated to current technology for ...
Pros: Stunning Graphics, Good Story Line, Nice Sound Bytes. Cons: Demanding Computer Compatibility, Ultimately Repititious Gameplay.
OVERALL: Doom3 seems to be the typical "First Person Shooter" with LOTS of eye and ear candy, but unfortunatley, a great overall rating was succumbed by repetitious game play and dull online play. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: * 100% DirectX 9.0 ...
Pros: challenging, thrilling, addictive, good story Cons: took too long to come out, expensive, bad ending
About four years ago I went to a huge LAN party called QuakeCon. While there, the great people who make Doom were there to tell us about the new Doom 3. They had little movie passes for everyone to get a chance and come in a small theatre and check out ...
Pros: Supurb Lighting & Visuals
Smarter AI (than the original) Cons: Mediocre Story
Horrible AI (compared to other games)
Bad Multiplayer
OK, after years of waiting and loads of hype, PC gamers finally have the much awaited Doom 3. But, can Doom 3 live up to the hype considering the fact that Doom is the most defining game in the FPS genre. Before Doom, we had Wolfenstien 3D which put FPS ...
Pros: Mind blazingly good graphics, intense gaming, good thrill. Cons: needs a VERY POWERFUL PC, not impressive story line.
Hello, it's been a while since I have written a review, so be easy on me :P. I recently downloaded the Doom 3 demo from their official site, www.doom3.com, and when I played it, I got a good experience on both sides of the game, the like-it side, and ...
Pros: Graphics, Suspense, Good Story, Creatures. Cons: High System Requirements, Gameplay gets boring, Nothing surprising.
Doom 3 for the most part was good. Not great but its was acceptable. The grapchics where ok, however DOOM3 Automaticly configers itself based on your system cababilities such as RAM and Processor as well as graphics card. I had 512MB of RAM a 64MB ...
Pros: Atmospheric, Scary, Graphically Amazing, Enjoyable Gameplay, and Soon-there-will-be Great Mods. Cons: You need a top-quality PC. No in-game map feature, weak multiplayer, kinda short.
Sure, Doom 3 isn't a perfect game. That being said, it's the new standard for all first person shooters. Why? THE GRAPHICS. The textures and 3d rendered characters are awe-inspiring. Everything you see in this game makes you lean back from your ...
Pros: Great Graphics - Great Sound - Scare tactics Cons: Too Dark - Unable to use Flashlight and Weapon.
Doom 3 is Finally here and it's wait was well worth it. The game starts off with you landing on Mars , and as you check into the research center you quickly realize something evil is afoot. With rumors of people dissapearing and accidents happening you ...
Pros: Solid graphics, immersive environment Cons: Gameplay repetitive. Not good for sniping fans.
First off, the new engine shows pretty nicely. Detail is excellent -- it really shrugs off the generic repeating level design patterns we've seen in the past with games in the 3D genre. No longer are walls and ceilings all flat. There are pipes, ...
Pros: Scary, Fear, Gruesome, Atmospheric, Smart, Look forward to playing it, does not crash, shooter standard Cons: None. Most of you should already know what your computer can and cannot do.
Gruesome masterpiece Because of the many somewhat mixed and negative reviews this game has received I held off on buying it till Doom3 got cheaper. I did that so I would not feel guilty if I ended up hating or disliking the game. I have bought a ...
Pros: graphics pda intense game play that gets my heart pumping(not much does) Cons: needs way big system to play to fullest repetitive lack of variety
i have played a little of this game as my comp is a dell 2400 with 2.8ghz p4, 768mb ram, 128mx 4000 graphics, and on-board stereo sound, and 15" crt display. i love the dark environments at it gets my heart pounding when i enter a room i havent been thats pitch black with the erie music and sounds. i had my computer running crap speakers must have been 2" cones for the amount of bass they put out(had better headphone bass). my comp lagged on some memory intensive spots and the graphics had to be turned down almost all the way for it not to lag due to little graphics card. the game seems kinda the same as you play through it, i mean you dont level up, no this room only guns, just go here kill this your done. i would like to try multiplayer if i ever get a better system. the pda is also a nice touch. just as good as the old doom but with better graphics
Doom 3 was the most anticipated game of the year. It is finally here. Is it good? Was it worth the wait? The answer is no.
The plot of doom 3 is pretty boring. A research facility on Mars accidentally opens the gates of hell and you will have to kill zombies and posesed guards.
The graphics are the best ever in a game. You will be able to run the game on high settings at 800x600 at 30 fps on a radeon 9600xt. Although a geforce 6800 is recommended.
Pros: game is full of pee in the pants moments
well done game play
scary sounds Cons: after a few levels you get bored quickly
I bought this game because i was excited about what this new episode would bring. and i can say, it blew me away! the game is so scary because of the crazy and scary sounds you hear and the whole atmosphere from the game. i only play this game when its fully dark and when my 5.1 surround set is set to 20! only then i had this awesome experience.
the first couple of levels where very exciting because of the high shock level. but when i progressed in the game, i found it become more and more boring. this was because of the constantly repeating situations in the game. something like; enter door, monster, walk a while, enter door, monster. although the monsters became much tougher throughout the game, it was not getting any more exciting as it was at the beginning of the game.
but beside this thing i experienced a nice game. with lots of scary moments. but after a while i started to get bored and went searching for another game.
Pros: graphics, sound, scary, enemy models, mods, weapons, PDA Cons: Random enemy generation, indoor environments, difficulty, no duct tape, multiplayer
Doom 3 is the highly anticipated Third game in the series from id software. The graphics on this game are absolutely amazing. Some of the best graphics ever made. however, why is the game stuck in the dark claustrophobic environments? thats why Half-Life 2 has best graphics because the outdoor environments.
On a high Note the Sound is Excellent ecspecially when trying to locate hidden enemies. And while we are talking about enemies, why is it that they have to randomly generate enemies just for cheap scares?
On the control part of this game, its basically like any other PC fps. But man the flash light just sucks. You'd think there would be duct tape on Mars right! The weapons in the game are sweet. the damage they inflict is very accurate (considering their possessed bastards). The diificulty maybe high for newbies though.
The thing that everyone was waiting for is the multiplayer, which as it turns out sucks. You play 4 player deathmatch. Umm since when do people play 4 player deathmatch, 1999. jesus.
The story really doesn't matter just like all fps.
Pros: Killer graphics, Great story line, Challenging enemies Cons: get more ram and a better graphics card
I have had a chance to test this game. I must say I didn't have high hopes for it at all, and yes I did play the other ones and loved them. The visuals are awesome! The game play was fantastic! The enemy bots where smart! Not much more I could really ask for. The game was actually challenging. When this game hits stores, don't hesitate, just go get it!
Doom3 "technology demo" Sucks by iharkonen ,Nov 19 '04
Pros: alot of potential with the engine, although not utilized (at all). Cons: i am in a dungeon. kill enemies. i've not left the dungeon. same enemies. repeat.
This game sucks. Lets start here. I was so completely bored after about the second level I fell asleep with my hand on the keyboard. If I can say anythying good about the game the visuals are impressive, but only if you play in GOD mode and stare at the undead beasts as they attack you. Bottom line is this is a technology demo. They will lease their engine to other game developers and THATs where this game/engine will be truly utilized. DOOM 3 itself is a damn waste of your money. don't buy it. wait for doom 3 engine games. There is alot of potential here, but its not utilized at all. same repetitive dungeon crawling throughout the whole game. same enemies. zero variance. play the game on a friends machine for the first 2 levels to get the WOW out of your system and thats it.
game over.
Pros: It doesn't come with a gun Cons: But the game is full of them
This game is violent
Oh yes it is
You use weapons to shoot, maim, and kill
And watch the aliens fizz
The game isn't too constructive
I'd suggest something nicer
Like a Clay Aiken album
Or a potato ricer
Doom 3: The Best Game I Never Saw. by chris_baehr ,Oct 21 '04
Pros: Doom atmosphere. Graphics, sound, strong monsters. Frightning. Plays like a horror movie. Cons: Too dark! The flashlight gets tedious after awhile.
Doom 3 is a hit. The atmosphere is creepy, it plays like a horror movie, the controls are familiar, and the monsters are tough.
The downside: The game didn't make proper use of its graphics engine because we just didn't get to see enough of it. This is a fault with the level design. When creating a spooky game like Doom 3, it's okay to have dark regions within levels or dark levels, but not the entire game. The flashlight gimmick grew tiresome once you realized you had to use it all the time the rest of the game.
The game captures the look and feel of the original Doom, but it doesn't recapture the fun.
The saving grace here is that the graphics engine has been built. So an expansion pack could be made very quickly that addresses all of these issues with better levels and better lighting.
So if you take it for what it is (Doom with a face lift), and don't mind darkness, it's a great game. If you wanted to really see what your graphics card can do, you won't see it with this game. The eye candy is buried in the darkness.
Pros: Good graphics and scary for a while.. yes, thats it. Cons: gameplay, multiplayer gameplay, and everything in general sucked
Doom 3 - When graphics become more important then the actual gameplay, storyline.
First 30 min. :
Pretty scary, graphics are amazing with my top of the line computer, so far i'm enjoying it.
Two hours later : Oh man, now i'm this is some freaky stuff. Dammit, can't i hold the flash light and shot the gun?!
fourth hour : *drooling* omg.. is this thing on a loop or something? Same thing for the last 4 hours..
sixth hour : WTF... there better be something good at the end.
Eight hour : done?? wow... i wasted 8 hours of my life and payed 50 bucks for it..
I put the game up a week later on ebay.
Now don't get me wrong, its an OKey game, but i'm an enthusiast, like the kind of enthusiast that spends 2000 bucks on his computer for gaming and i'm simply not satisfied. The old UT is more entertaining then this too.
Well okey, i guess everyone would bored of single player right? What about the multiplayer gaming?
Guess what, its even worse.. just like said before UT is better.
Lots of potential, but not for today by jtong88 ,Jan 05 '05
Pros: Great graphics, sound, and very intense. Great thriller Cons: Hardware to play the game is unaffordable! Wait a year for this one.
This game has the potential to be great, but the system requirements are just too much. Unless you have the top of the line system that just came out, you will have to wait a year until hardware becomes more affordable to play this resource beast. Once the hardware is available, this will be the best looking game that has come out in a while. The scariest too. Don't play this one in the dark!
