Pros: May cut OK in a groove, or next to a raised walkway. Cons: Lower part of blade jams into soil
A friend (younger and stronger guy) purchased an Ames dual tire edger, and told me that it was too hard to push. I tried it, and found that the Ames edger was much harder to push than my edger. I could hardly advance the Ames edger along a sidewalk ...
I live in a nice neighborhood with well-manicured lawns and nice houses. I was quite embarrassed with my lawn because the grass was growing sideways along the sidewalk and driveway, probably a good 4-inch protrusion. I made the mistake of buying one of...
Pros: Cheaper than electric, no cord, easy to store, edges look great! Cons: A real workout, poor quality.
I read a couple of epinions about the single tread and decided I would give it a try. My DIY store only had the double tread model, so I bought it. After using it to edge my front lawn, I have to echo the sentiments of other users. Since this was my...
Pros: Great looking edges, low cost, it'll last forever...lifetime warranty. Cons: Requires a little muscle and stamina for the first go-round.
After reading the other reviews, I was a little hesitant to buy and use a manual edger. After seeing it a my local Walmart, I thought I'd give it a go...besides, it was the perfect compliment to my reel mower, adding to my environmental friendly...
Pros: no cords, no gasoline, just your calories Cons: jams on its own cuttings, doesn't roll well and bends on relatively little force
I have been using a manual edger along my sidewalk and driveway for over 20 years. The edger started out with a rubber tread that gave way after a few years to a bare steel roller that finally also wore out. It was not easy to get through the edging...
Pros: I now have a stick with a funky looking hunk of machinery on it. Cons: Bogs on its own cuttings. Bends easily. Doesn't track well.
Deciding it would be worth it to my wasteline, I got this manual edger. Of course it was work - that's why I bought it. BUT what a poorly designed piece of garbage. It bogs on the cuttings tremendously. It bends with an ease that gives one a false impression of one's strength. The V guide seems designed to move the edger quickly into the yard rather than keeping it on the edge. Avoid this brand and model.
Pros: There are no pros! Cons: It doesn't work at all.
I went to the hardware store looking for a replacement
for my single wheel edger that has faithfully served me
for twenty years. The Ames Dual Tread Edger look good, so
I purchased one and took it home to put it to work. I found
it impossible to operate effectively; the blades are not
sharp, the lower blade runs too deep and interferes with soil,
so that for all the enormous effort to push it, it does not
cut at all. It is a fraud. By contrast, my 20 year old tool
still works far better even though its blade is worn.
