Pros: It makes coffee. Under cabinet mount. It looks good. Cons: It is a hassle to use, and a danger to counters and floors.
Generally, I try to look for the good in things, but that's hard with this product. It does make coffee, it mounts under the cabinet, and it looks good, but that's about as far as it goes. If it was an additional product rather than a replacement for the ...
Pros: None Cons: The carafe leaks and is almost impossible to pour from
Well, where to start. I had the previous model of this coffee maker and it worked well. When it finally died, I bought the new model. 1. The new model did not fit into the old models under-counter brackets. The old model didn't care how long the ...
Pros: Spacemaker - Under-counter design appealing.
Looks great!!! Resevoir easy to fill. Cons: Leaks coffee on counters and floor. Dribbles when pouring coffee. Doesn't keep coffee warm.
We bought this to replace the old SpaceMaker, which we loved. The under-counter concept is great. The white and steel looked great in our kitchen. Unfortunately, this purchase was a BIG mistake. I wish I had read the other reviews. Key points: The ...
Pros: Energy efficient, well insulated carafe, easy to clean, easy to use and pours very nice. Cons: The lid on the carafe is clumsy to use.
An in expensive model with an insulated carafe. I found it easy to use and set up. This coffee maker is not for everyone but for my coffee habit it is perfect. I especially like the removable water reservoir. It is clear so that you can see if there is ...
Pros: Appearance of carafe is only positive point but is far outweighed by the cons. Cons: Lid comes off, dangerous, spills. Coffee not kept hot. Steam escapes & marks cupboards.
This coffee maker is like taking many steps BACK WARDS in time compared to the one we bought 20 years ago and only recently stopped using. It is not unreasonable to expect products to be at least as good as ones made 20 years prior. Truly, there should ...
Pros: Looks pretty good. That's it Cons: Drips, Mounts badly, Can dump coffee all over the counter
Coffee just got dumped all over some christmas presents I had sitting near it on the counter because of their awful design that causes the basket to block up. I want to sue.
I had the previous model, it was excellent...hard to believe Black and Decker signed off on this. I absolutely will not buy another B&D product.
Repeating the incredible design flaws, none of which were shared by the previous model:
1. Drips water
2. Mounting screws protrude more than an inch into the cabinet above
3. The drip-less mechanism tends to not work, closing the basket and dumping coffee all over your counter
4. The clock doesn't keep time well--loses about 15 minutes a week for me
5. The lights on the front are hard to see (their previous model had a nice red light showing it was on--this has a dim lcd display)
Worst Coffee Maker I Have Ever Owned by schrummy ,Oct 11 '05
Pros: Looks good under the counter and it is easy to make the coffee. Cons: Once you make the coffee it's difficult to pour yourself a cup!
I wish I would have read the reviews before spending $60.00 on this coffee maker. Unfortunately I misplaced the receipt and can't return it. It makes good coffee and it's easy to use but it's not worth the hassle you have to go through to pour a cup. The carafe is very poorly designed and coffee pretty much just dribbles out. I have tried adjusting the position of the lid and taking it off and it spills everywhere if you try to pour it out like any other normal coffee pot. I also found that it doesn't stay hot long enough. This definitely does not live up to the Black and Decker reputation that I know!
Needs to be tested by real people by cherih ,Aug 16 '05
Pros: removable Water reservoir Cons: Carafe leaks and is difficult to put top on
I love the idea, especially the water reservoir, but the carafe is terrible!! Difficult to put top on and leaks all over the place! Coffee should be and stay hotter!
I bought this brand mostly due to trust in Black & Decker, they've lost my trust..
Pros: I can't think of anything. Cons: It leaks. The top is hard to use.
I owned the previous "spacemaker" model and loved it. When it wore out I purchased this "updated model". It is a mess. I would like to program it at night so I could have coffee first thing in the morning.......I can't use the programing feature because the water reservoir leaks all over my counter. Pouring coffee is a nightmare. I can do it ...almost without spilling.....but unfortunately my husband can't. If I could, I would buy the old model but I can't find one anywhere.
Pros: Not much electricity used, great design for small spaces. Cons: Very poor design of carafe.
Great idea, poor design of the carafe. When pot becomes 2/3 empty, it spills out everywhere except in the cup. I would like to have a spill-proof carafe.
Pros: It made coffee. Cons: Leaky, loud, hard to clean and a waste of money.
I purchased this coffee maker in May, 2005. I loved the fact it was under-counter mounted. The mounting brackets were pitiful, but we finally made them work with a little re-fabricating. That should have been our first clue to the fact this thing is awful.
The pot is really loud when it perks. The pot leaks from where the plastic top is attached to the stainless part. The lid always looks stained and grungy no matter what you do to it. The clock buttons are easily bumped and that changes the time. Now the thing leaks like a sieve. Water seeped out through the seams in the bottom of the box part that holds the pot as well as underneath the water tank.
I wasted my money on this one. One more item to the landfill.
Very Disappointed With This Model by darbscastle ,Jul 23 '05
Pros: Very Appealing Design, The Stainless Steel Pot Caught My Attention Right Away In The Store. Cons: Coffee Isn't Hot After Brewing And Pours Like A Dripping Faucet. Wouldn't Buy Again!!
I Have Always Used Black And Decker Under The Counter Coffee Makers, But I Found This Model To Be A Large Disappointment. I Will Be Replacing It With Something Else.
Not Sure If It Will Be Another Black And Decker.
Won't make a good Christmas gift! by consumereport2 ,Nov 12 '05
Pros: Beautiful design, stainless steel carafe, easy fill water reservoir, under the counter convenience. Cons: Makes lukewarm coffee that spills all over the countertop when you pour it!
How can what appears to be a great product be so bad! Beautiful design, stainless steel carafe, easy fill water reservoir, digital timer/programmer, and under the counter convenience. How nice! Well, that's were it ends!
Get out the paper towels and let the pouring (dribbling) begin! If you like lukewarm coffee that spills all over the countertop when you pour it, this coffee maker is for you!
This model would have to be improved just to suck! I have never purchased a worse product than this! (Well, maybe a Wagner Power painter!)
Don't bother calling Black and Decker. I have! They act like you're the first person to complain. Duh, a problem? Never heard of what you're describing sir. A real waste of time!
If you've already purchased this product, I feel your pain! If you haven't don't bother! Christmas gift? Your friends and relatives will hate you! Buy them a fruit cake instead! Rant over. Thank you!
They should have left a great coffee maker alone by mawtg ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: Saves counter space and carafe stays cool to touch. Cons: Luke warm coffee that pours way too slow.
Black and Decker had a wonderful 12 cup Space Maker coffeemaker. I owned one for years and enjoyed both the extra counter space as well as the coffee. Last month after much use, several replacement carafes, and some discoloration, I decided to buy a new one. Black and Decker had replaced this model with the new 10 cup space maker, so I bought it. The concept seemed great, no burner so carafe stays cool. However, so does coffee. The only way to get a hot cup of coffee is to microwave it after it is made. Recently I found the old model offered on another website and will throw out the new one.
Frustrating to pour a cup of coffee by andsoitgoes52 ,Jun 22 '05
Pros: saves space...looks good...timer a bonus Cons: coffee mess on counter every time you pour a cup!
We purchased this coffee maker some months ago and I have since been trying to get an answer from B&D on whether we have a faulty pot or whether they have just messed up on the design of it. You CANNOT pour a cup of coffee faster than a dribble...otherwise you will have coffee spilled all over your counter. My brother-in-law has same pot and he has the same complaint...you can use that extremely slow "tap a cup" at the base of the handle but I find this so unacceptable. Haven't they tested it? I don't know, because I cannot get a reply to any emails I have sent out to "customer service" on various sites. Makes me grumpy in the mornings!!!
