We didn't have cable when I was little. My mom was a waitress at a Denney's, and I'd walk to the Denney's after school, have some soup, fried zucchini & a scoop of ice cream in that little tin cup they had. Sometimes we'd bring home some carrot cake. We never owned a car, so we'd walk together to the bookstore. I remember sitting in the bookstore for hours, long before train sets and toys were sold there, just reading. Then, we'd put the books back...but not this one.
The pictures in this book are stunning- like something you could only dream up, or maybe paint across your wall if you had de Rico's talent (I don't). I begged, I probably even cried, and my mother took some of her tip dollars and bought me this book. Twenty something years later, I still own that book, and a newer copy, too, as the old one is in pieces.
If you have a child who loves books (I have two!), you won't go wrong here.
