I bought this dishwasher for three main reasons: Good cleaning capability, quiet operation, and durability. The unit did not clean as well as expected, it was certainly very quiet, durability is non-existent. We a had a super el-cheapo Hotpoint washer that lasted 6 times longer than our Bosch. Just after the warranty expired the electronic control unit failed. Bosch supplied the part at no cost, but I still had to pay the repairman for labor. The washer didn't even get through one cleaning cycle after the repair. The repairman came again and said that the wash motor burnt out. The motor cost $110 plus $100 for the repairman. As soon as the unit was turned on, the new motor burnt out. Needless to say, out went the Bosch and in came the Maytag.

I'm really not sure what some of the other (dissatisfied)customer are talking about. This dishwasher cleans amazingly well. My dishes are sparkling clean. And we do not have a water softener despite having quite hard water where we live. It is quiet which was important to us since the kitchen opens to the family room. I was made aware (by the salesperson and Consumers Report) that the configuration of the racks was limited BEFORE I bought it so as not to disappoint myself. I never used all the movable racks in my old dishwasher anyways. The only water left on my dishes after the dry cycle is water that pooled in a concave surface such as on the bottom of a glass. I did use my delayed wash feature on my last dishwasher and was concerned that this one didn't have one but because it is so quiet I can turn it on at anytime. I would highly recommend this dishwasher. It is also an energy star appliance so you can receive a $50 rebate from your utility company.

I love this dishwasher. It has cleaned everything well I put in there so far. The first few uses left rust spots on some of the silverware, but it seems to have stopped. It's so quiet, you can barely hear it run while standing just a few feet away! I would recommend this dishwasher.

Our Bosch SHE44C model does not handle bowls well; they can topple over due to design flaw. This does not mean it can't wash bowls or can't clean them, just that they don't stay in the ideal upright position without a lot fiddling around. I'm very surprised that others here have not mentioned this problem! We purchased it maybe 18 months ago. I'm curious if current models of Bosch still "feature" the same top rack!
Conclusion: if you're planning to purchase a dishwasher, make sure to bring some DISHES to the store, especially your typical bowls and glasses and have the salesman show you how they would be loaded.
