Pros: Easy to install and use. Makes water clean and safe. Cons: The replacement filters are a little expensive.
Every year we hear more and more about the declining quality of our drinking water. Mankind has done much to pollute our natural resources and drinking water is no exception. Fortunately, mankind has had the inventiveness to create products that...
Pros: Convenient. Cons: Cheaply made. Expensive to operate.
This is my second Brita On-Tap water filter. I bought my first one at Zellers (A Canadian department store, like Walmart) for $75 CAD and purchased an additional two filters with it for about $25 per filter at my time of purchase. This means altogether...
Pros: Compact, easy to use Cons: Filter cartridges more expensive than pitcher filters
We have been using the Brita pitcher for years and were very satisfied with the taste of the water. But we were out of filters and the pitcher was starting to show its age, with hairline cracks showing up in the clear plastic and grungy looking buildup...
Pros: easy to install/use, spray setting, long lasting Cons: hangs down a little farther than I'd like, but not a big deal
This filter definitely pays for itself if you normal buy bottled water. Prior to owning this filter, I had the Brita pitcher. Which was nice.... except when someone would put the pitcher back with a sip of water left & wouldn't refill it. So after months ...
Pros: Great tasting filtered water, filter change indicators, shower/stream/filtered water selection switch. Cons: You can't use hot water in the filtered mode.
I had seen this Brita On Tap filter at the grocery store, I was going to buy it until I saw the $43 Canadian price tag, I was expecting around $20-25. I then came back home and read reviews about it right here on Epinions. They looked very positive, so I ...
Pros: Instant water, no waiting. Cons: Cheap plastic, will wear and break over time.
I just recently bought my second Brita On-Tap faucet filter. In all fairness, the first one lasted me for 3 years. How long can you expect a product to work? I feel that I recouped my value out of the first product. However, I was disappointed when the ...
This filter works remarkably well save the cheap plastic male adapter it comes with that connects your filter to your tap. The threads strip after a couple attempts at attaching it so just go buy a stainless steel one (which you should use anyway) ...
Pros: NONE, too many people complain about the cheap plastic parts breaking...when NEW...sprays out the sides. Cons: Cheap plastic parts break...when NEW...sprays out the sides &/or falls off.
The whole faucet attachment fell off in the sink as if the water pressure was too strong and stripped the screw in part. Then when I reattached it, water sprayed out the top and sides. It is not usable. Tried to rig it, purchased a new screw on part. No ...
The water tasted good and helped a lot through spring run-off however it didn't last. Once it started to leak there was no fixing it and if I don't want tainted water it takes a full minute to minute and a half to fill a 12 oz. glass never mind the time it takes to fill a jug for the fridge now. I doubt I'll replace it.
Pros: It does do a fair job as a filter. Cons: Main unit construction is poor resulting in massive leeks total failure of main unit.
As a filter system it works well but I find the main unit itself does not last very long before you get leeks coming from every area where the unit has been joined.
I have taken back three units and now will NOT buy anymore.
Pros: Instant filtered water! Cons: Instant waste of money!
The fact that I bought this product three times shows how much faith I've invested in it, and it has always disappointed me. As many others have written, the problem lies in the plastic construction: the connector threads to the faucet break, the weight of the filter causes the unit to tilt and leak, and the replacement filters are very expensive (about $18.00 CAD). I bought quite a few filters on sale when I had my first unit, and when it broke down, bought another unit because I had all of these filters lying around. This continued to my third unit which broke down within three months. If you need filtered water, invest in a pitcher or under the sink system. This isn't worth it. And yes, I've tried PUR (better construction but holds stagnant water due to the design of its vertical/horizontal diverter.)
Brita on tap -- The jury may still be out by editfax ,Jul 03 '05
Pros: Good tasting water, easy instillation, available at low price if you do the research Cons: A question about durability and what the flashing green light actually means.
I bought the chrome model of the Brita faucet mount filter on sale for $19.95, and found a great deal online for replacement filters, so I have no quarrel about the price. Initially, my 12-year-old son installed the filter, and the faucet kept leaking. I reinstalled it using plyers to tighten it on, and it hasn't leaked since. The water tastes great. My only question about this filter is does the green light really indicate that the filter is working at the optimul level? Or is it just indicating that less than 100 gallons have been filtered or less than 4 months have elapsed. After about 2 months, the light is still flashing green, indicating that the filter is working, but I have begun to see small particles in the water. This may be due to the fact that on 2 occasions we forgot, and for a few seconds, we turned on the hot water while the filter is in filter mode. I don't want to take chances with our water, so I would like to know if we're still getting adequate filtration.
