Pros: Excellent control for chipping, pitching and mostly putting. Solid, but not impressive performance. Cons: Needs more distance, and feels a little hollow and rubbery.
I declared myself a Callaway-ball-hater at the very early stages of my short golfing life. Lost nearly a dozen CTU balls on a beach course and all I could do was, naturally, to blame the "stupid balls". Now I don't find myself loving Callaway balls, ...

Pros: Nice feel to the ball. Very good around the greens. Rolls true on greens. Cons: No increase in distance. Relatively expensive (even though I got mine for free)
I was out on my favorite course with my favorite ball (Pinnacle Gold Distance) with a few good frien ...

Pros: Reds--Longest Ball out there. Blues--exceptional feel and spin. Cons: Non-workable. These are straight line only balls.
Here's a ball that actually does everything that's advertised.I play three types of ball right now---Assorted Callaway Reds(Distance), Blues(Spin), and Titleist Pro V1's(All Around). The HX Red (unlike most other Callaway reds) will outdistance the ...

HX's are so so
by mitchell2001 ,Dec 07 '06
Pros: Greenside spin and distance when struck firmly Cons: Clunky feel when they are hit and their huge dimples are off putting
I have currently just finished using 1 dozen HX reds. Although I will not be racing out to buy another dozen they were an alright ball. These balls had a very 'clunky' feel with most shots including putting, which was my main criticism. This although it was off putting at first you got used to it. I play off a handicap of 8 and normally play a straight ball flight. This ball accentuates this quality because they are a very straight ball and once you learn to trust hitting through them they can go an extra 10 - 15 metres. I would recommend them to people with a high swing speed because as I said when they are hit they go. They have good greenside spin although with chipping they do come out very low which again is another thing you learn to control the more you use this ball. I wouldn't mind using the HX blues so I could compare them to the reds, but well what are you going to do.

No Sir... I don't like it.
by lastgreatday ,Sep 15 '04
Pros: Fights wind, cover reasonably durable Cons: harsh feel, lack of workability, not enough spin
Here's a ball that is trying to be nearly all things to all people for a more value price. And unfortunately, it shows. There is nothing really redeeming about these golf balls despite the technology of their big-brother HX Red/HX Blue/HX Tour.
I tried both the Red and Blue versions, and both felt very hard and harsh to me. Both had a distinctive "click" off the clubface. I don't like that very much, as I prefer a softer sound.
While the Hex dimples did in fact fight wind, the drawback to that is the balls aren't quite as bendable left or right as their round-dimpled adversaries. In addition, the hard cover didn't allow that split-second longer impact to spin the ball quite as much as I get with softer cover balls like Titleist Pro V1 or Srixon UR-X.
There are so many better balls out there for the money they're charging for the HX 2-piece (and now its successor, Big Bertha) that I just can't recommend this ball. It's very middle of the pack.
