Pros: Compact with 4x zoom, IS, great picture quality Cons: None
I bought this camera back in April from Amazon for $300. You may be able to buy it less now. I would like to focus my review on how and why I came to select SD700IS and what other cameras I reviewed rather than spending time explaining its ...

Canon SD700 IS Digital Camera Review ( Novice)
by kayhawn ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: 'NO MORE RED-EYE' Image-Stabilizer and Real-Image Optical Viewfinder. Cons: Pricey compared to other cameras, I paid $499, to heavy to put in shirt pocket.
Exquisitely styled with unique 'Curvature and Stream' design, the camera incorporates a host of cutting-edge features, Image-Stabilizer, Real-Image Optical Viewfinder, Excellent picture quality with very good indoor pictures, and 'NO MORE RED-EYE' were the most important features to me.

Canon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital ELPH perfect for the active family
by chrisv614 ,Sep 19 '06
Pros: Image Quality, Compact Design, Large LCD display, Cons: No Battery Meter....that's my only complaint.
I recently purchased the SD700 after my previous camera broke. I had a Sony P3 3.1 megapixel camera that we bought 4 years ago because it was compact and I liked the Sony brand. I have to admit that I am glad it broke. I have a wife and two young children ages 4 and 1. One of the best features on the Canon is a setting for Kids & Pets. We no longer miss those "picture moments". You know if you have kids that when they are doing something you have a short window of time to get the picture. Well not only will you be able to get the picture but it will not come out blurry 95% of the time.
In doing my research for this camera I spoke with two friends that are graphic artists. They both recommended I get a Canon camera. I also talked to other family and friends and the two that didn't have a Canon hate their camera. All the others own a Canon and they ALL love them.
So if you don't get this camera I suggest getting one of the many Canons out there.

Image Stabilization That Really Works
by riaz28 ,Mar 08 '07
Pros: Superb image stabilization and picture quality Cons: Pricey
Canon is known for their get cameras but the SD700IS is a mile ahead. The picture quality was beautiful. I had a couple cameras in the past with image stabilization, but they were not close to the SD700IS. The shape of the camera was really good; it was a little bulky but the smooth curves make it look slim and comfortable to hold. The only bad thing about this camera it was pricey BUT DEFINITELY WORTH IT.

finally a digital camera I love
by melisty ,Aug 25 '06
Pros: Stabilization, clear clear pictures, wonderful features and picture styles. small and sleek. Cons: On the pricey side, I got a better deal on line.
After months of research, I finally picked the canon. The stabilization feature is great and works beautifully. You can buy an underwater camera housing for it.It is small enough that I can put it easily in my small purse. It is a wonderful camera and will not disappoint. As a side note I found a great slim case to carry it around at best buy for $1.99. It is very attractive and doesn't look like a camera case, more like a cell phone.

Cons: Len's edge burr in wide angle
Not really wide angle lens
This is my travel camera and I use it more than my 20D. Nice construction, very compact. I can put it in my packet easily.

A superb camera - The Canon SD700IS / IXY 800
by canon_fan ,Sep 07 '06
Pros: Image stabilization, sturdy construction, excellent photos, pocket sized, good battery capacity, optical viewfinder. Cons: Only 6 MP (wanted 8), weak flash, only 35 mm wide angle, no shutter priority
I chose this model because I have always been happy with my Canon cameras and the on-line reviews rated it as excellent but pricey, then waited 3 months for the price to come down closer to about $300. After shooting 600 photos in all modes and conditions, this camera has exceeded my expectations. After trying out other cameras (including digital SLRs)at retail stores, it became clear that while this is not the perfect camera, it is the best overall camera for photo quality, size, and sturdy construction.
