It works fine, But.....
by pichiota ,Dec 24 '05
Pros: User Friendly, easy to record with. Cons: The Recorded DVD is playable only on the Coby DVD-R1200 player, and not enough inputs.
I have to admit that this Coby recorder is very user friendly, that's a plus.
I bought it for my wife to record her soap operas, and
for me to save family recordings into DVDs.
I'm using Maxell DVD+R 8x which works fine in it, but it doesn't like Memorex DVD+RW 8x.
The problem that I have with it (and that's why is going back to the store)is that any DVD recorded in it will not play in any other stand along DVD player nor computer.
when I try to copy the .vob files from the finished DVD, I discover that the first .vob file is coded in a way that only the Coby Player can play.
And this was done in purpose by the Coby company.
Not to mention that the RGB out put doesn't work and on the back side it has only one input (coaxial cable).
So why would I want a DVD recorder that when it breaks down 4 years down the road, I'll be stuck with a bunch of DVDs no one else can play.
