There are already so many reviews on this product that I'll keep this one short. I read quite a few positive reviews before slapping down my money for the Creative Labs product, so I was disappointed to find that it didn't meet my high expectations. ...
Pros: Great product, great software, reasonable price. Cons: Not as cute as other players.
THIS IS FOR JUKEBOX 3. The pictures and titles are reversed in parts if the epinions index. The player I own now is much better than the same player that I bought 8 months ago. I just upgraded the firmware for the 5th time. Each time the unit gets ...
01-11-04 Initial Review: Bought to use in my truck through aux jack on receiver (Connector avail at Wal-Mart $4.). Jukebox locked up first two times trying to play introduction. Some trouble getting software to work on win98 at first - kept saying ...
Creative MP3 jukeboxes sound like a great idea but they come with laughably brief warranties. Creative offers a three month warranty, but considering the high cost, that is unacceptable. Keep in mind that an MP3 jukebox is nothing more than a laptop hard ...
Pros: Easy Navigation, Huge Hard Drive, Smaller Than A CD Player Cons: Sound Is Awful, Kind Of Heavy, Not Cheap
Don't you want a mp3 player that produces decent sound for a high price? Well this mp3 player has bad sound and just isn't for me. It has very bad bass, sound production, and it crackles a lot. Mabye mine is just desinfective with the sound output or...
I am in my car a good 12 hours a week, so I bought this jukebox to keep me company. I can create a long playlist and sit back and enjoy the drive. As someone who is not particularly computer savvy, I found the set-up to be relatively simple, although I...
Pros: 20Gb of storage, looks like a Discman from afar Cons: Looks like a Discman from afar, software is bad
Background
I purchased a Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 (20Gb version) on a lark in late January of 2003. I had been planning on purchasing a hard-drive based jukebox for quite a long time, and was really just waiting for the opportunity. I have...
Pros: lots of storage, easy interface, easy to learn Cons: locks up from time to time, a little bigger than I'd like
I am a music junky. With over 530 CDs in my collection, and gigabyte after gigabyte of mp3s, I just can't get enough. So when I decided it was time for an mp3 player, I shopped around. The iPod is cute, and small, but with the $300 version only having 5...
Pros: Storage Space, Sound Quality, Feel, Interface, 2 Battery Slots, Windows 98 Compatible, Good Price Cons: A Little Big, Firewire Doesn't Carry Power, A Little Nervous About Support Options
The Nomad Jukebox 3 is a great player for those who need the best in MP3 but if you are not into playing with digital music look elsewhere.
At first glance, the Jukebox 3 looks like a portable CD player. Although once you open this device up...
Pros: Cheaper than ipod,
20GB,
Recording Feature,
Firewire Cons: EAX not as good as people say,
Software is complicated,
Earphones mediocre compared to others
The CJ3 (Creative Labs Jukebox 3) is simply the best for the money. First I'll just talk a little, then talk about the good parts of the CJ3, then the not-so-good. I have studied and read about Mp3 products for monthes, from the ipod (which is great...
Pros: None that I'm aware of. Cons: Requires proprietary software to mount to USB port.
It's probably a nice unit if you use Windows, but Linux users are out of luck with this one. It doesn't mount as a drive on the USB port, requiring custom software instead. I did find a GTK program that will allow drag and drop operation. There is also...
Pros: Storage works as promised, sound is good Cons: big, big, big, not much bundled with it, scratches easy, no USB 2.0
I did lots of research before pulling the trigger on a JB3. Paid about $220 delivered, after rebate. Sounds great, the transfer works as promised (although it would be nice if it were recognized as a hard drive instead of needing to be accessed through...
Pros: Great Sound, plenty of storage, easy to use, good features, good looks Cons: A little bulky and an occasional hangup
When I first heard about mp3 players, I fell in love with the idea of thousands of songs without the hassle of CD's. I received an mp3 player for Christmas, and it was an Archos Jukebox. I fiddled with the software for probably about 5 hours and...
This nomad is a good MP3 player I have had it for about 10 months and I have like 150 cds on it. It is sturdy and reliable but it is just too big. I bought it for about 300.00 and now I guess you can get it cheaper. It is rather easy to download music...
Pros: HUGE storage, great sound, LCD screen and backlighting, IEEE1394, USB and IR. Cons: Some bugs like freezing and errors in playback.
I have been saving my pennies for quite some time in order to afford the pricey NOMAD Jukebox 3. I am quite glad that I did. I own a crappy Nike psa[play60 MP3 player and was dying for an upgrade. I bought the Jukebox on eBay at a nice price, although...
Pros: Large Memory is big plus. Lots of cool features to adjust sound and customize playback Cons: Once the storage begins to fill, the player malfunctions
I received my 20GB Jukebox for Christmas and within a month it started to act up. Originally, I was very impressed with all the features that allowed you customize the sound and the playback. But as the memory began to fill, I started to experience some...
Pros: Huge space, decently fast response, good after-sales support Cons: Lousy headphones
I've purchased many products from Creative, and they're frankly all pretty smashing, like the Audigy Platinum. Now I'm proud to add their latest MP3 player to my fold.
Pros: Great sound, large storage, beautiful looks Cons: Size & weight may be an issue, plus the occasional hiccup(hang).
The Change
Its funny how things and attitudes change. Years ago I was very opposed to ever using MP3s or making my own, less alone download them from the internet. Why? I felt (and still do a little) that...
Pros: Easy navigation, 20gb storage, extra battery slot, tons of equalizer effects, firewire! Cons: size is bigger than other mp3 players
In today's digital music world, there is really no reason not to have an mp3 player if you are willing to spend a couple hundred clams. But I recently purchased the Nomad Jukebox 3 and wow, did it ever impress me.
Pros: Huge storage capacity, easy to use interface, comes with everything needed for use Cons: very short & limited warranty, costs a lot to get it looked at by creative
I bought the Creative Nomad for my roommate as a christmas gift. I knew this would be the perfect gift for her and would hopefully help her get rid of all the cd's, tapes and even albums she's not willing to part with.
Pros: Dual Interfaces, Dual Battery Capability, up to 40GB. Cons: No USB 2.0 support, still bulky, should have a charging dock bundled.
After being rather disappointed with the Rio Riot jukebox, due to its rather bulky design and non-removable rechargeable battery, I decided to have a look at the Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 instead. Another reason is that Rio Riot only offers a USB 1.1...
Pros: Quick menus, fast firewire txfr, long battery life, good sound. Cons: no remote, no case, no spare batt, steep learning curve.
For me, it's been a long affair with this company and this product. I bought my first Nomad Jukebox back in Nov 2000 and have been hooked on portable music players ever since. I won't bore you with the history of the product but lets just say I was an...
Pros: 40 gigs, super sound, long batteries, and acts like mobile hard drive Cons: needs to use playcenter software which is slow and sometimes buggy
For the money, you can't get a better deal.
1. 40 gigs. firewire AND USB connectivity. Firewire transfers around 400mbs while USB (1.0) transfers around 11mbs. When using firewire, you really get superfast transfer rates.
Pros: Big capacity, excellent sound, great battery life, rugged construction, Fast Firewire transfers Cons: Difficult (proprietary) software, Not-yet-ready-for-primetime firmware, Needs to be reset often
I got my Nomad 3 directly from Creative Labs, $400, forgoing cheaper distributors to get quick delivery. I've had a good experience with the player, but the jukebox could be made greater if Creative Labs listens to its users and uses our experience to...
Pros: 20-40GB Hard Drive, decent nagivations, Dual LiIon batteries, large LCD, much more Cons: Expensive, size, navigation, other minor points.
Not to be outdone by the current offerings by Archos, Apple, and SonicBLUE, Creative has updated its vernable Nomad Jukebox series... and update them Creative did! Currently the third generation of Hard Drive based MP3 players, the Jukebox 3 is one of...
If you are considering a large storage mp3 player than I would definitely recommend the nomad jukebox. With 20GB of space available the nomad is able to hold enough music for vacations, road trips, or to act as a hard drive to store your mp3 collection....
Pros: Holds an incredible amount of music! Cons: Battery Life
This MP3 player has a crazy amount of space on it for whatever music you want to put on. Hold over 1000 songs! The program it comes with makes life easy for putting new songs onto it and also naming them is as simple as pie. (3.14) The quality of...
Pros: Excellent built quality. Great sound. Cons: Costs more
One thing I have learned-trust Creative Labs. I have NEVER been disappointed with ANY of CL's products. I was looking into MP3s and how to listen to them. I thought the idea was screwy until I started playing around with it. I then realized how important...
Pros: Lots of sound. WILL impress your friends. Cons: Expen$ive (but probably worth every penny if you love music.)
This little electronic wonder is one of the miracles of the age, in many ways. It is for people who love music so much they spend an inordinate amount of time downloading song after song from the net. You can also put your whole neighborhood's CD...
Pros: 20GB Hard Drive, incredible sound. Cons: Bulky, no FM tuner, short battery life.
Since the inception of the Nomad Jukebox by Creative, the product has been a success, primarily because there are people out there that have a gigantic collection of audio files. But for those who are looking for even greater capacity out of any...
Pros: worked well when it worked Cons: COMPANY AVOIDS WARRANTIES go to web site or try a call BEFORE you buy.
While the company claims it has a warranty- just try to contact them! My expensive jukebox broke down within the one year warranty- no emails or calls are answered. I have a several hundred dollar pile of electronics- gee I can salvage the hard drive- big deal- it is only worth 80 if I needed it. I went and bought a DVD PLAYER THAT PLAYS MP3. NEVER BUY ARCHOS PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully soon there will be a class action against these crooks.
The best sound quality in the market!! by bebobsa ,Jul 22 '04
Pros: Sound quality, easy use, look and other excellent attributes Cons: Size, but is not too big.
I've bought some mp3 player and they're good, but this one is the best mp3 player. Awesome sound quality, easy navigation system, good look and other excellent attributes. The only problem is the size, is not too big, but is one of the biggest mp3 player I seen. But it worth every penny. I recommend it!!
3 Years and Going Strong by bigbeardaddy ,Jul 15 '04
Pros: Reliability, easy to use, Fantastic sound Cons: Battery life, a little bulky
I purchased this unit when they first came out in the 10 gig and also purchased the PlayDock 200. The sound is every bit as good as BOSE. When the 20 gig came out, I gave a drooling friend my 10 gig and upgraded to the 20. It has worked perfectly, every day, every time and being able to go on weekend vacations with a sound system that will rival most home systems ... and have ALL of my music with me... PRICELESS. 10 stars from me
Pros: can record, nice menus, good firmware Cons: scrollwheel, no Ogg-Vorbis support, not worth $300
To start, I've already been through three of these machines in the last 8 mos! I baby the machine; it is never bumped, rattled, shaken, or stirred! It has the protective cover, and sits in its own foam bassinet in my car... That said, the darn thing was built for a museum, and not to enjoy. The scroll wheel is the single most used part of the device, and it does not last... bottom line! If the scroll wheel worked well (and lasted) it would be worth the money. so far I have dished out half the price of the unit on paying for extended warranties for the three devices so far. I've had my fill of this thing, and have since upgraded when the last one failed on me. I am taking a new chance on the Rio Karma 20gig. so far so good. all the things the nomad does, but better.

The sound is excellent- better than iPod. The only real downside is the Creative software. Invest $25 for Notmad Explorer from Red Chair Software. It will make all the difference in the world. In conclusion, I am very happy with this purchase. The price was unbeatable- for the 20 Gb Nomad Jukebox I paid $200 which is about $250 less than the comparable iPod.
This is a Great MP3 for a student, because now days teens are into music, and lots of it. The first day i got it, i had around 500 songs that i transfered from cds and from my computer. Another big part of the pace of music transfer is the speed of your computer. Even though it is big and heavy its a great mp3 player and i would reccomend it to anyone.
I was searching for a... by joe.b_dt3000 ,Dec 06 '02
I was searching for a home CD player/juke box. The systems I saw were large and hard to use. In addition, I didn't want to have all my CD's permanently fixed in the juke box.
With the Nomad 3, I have all the music in one place, I plug it into my Bose Stereo. Great sound! Easy to manage my music library. I also have all of the individual CD's to use elsewhere.
The best on the market.
My son has a CD / MP3 player and has to take CD's with him wherever he goes. I don't take anything but the player and some portable speakers (when I'm traveling afar). Although its heavy and bigger than other units, I found a good carrying case that allows me to listen to music while I walk, but it is a little cumbersome, but definately do-able. The instructions were so complicated that after 3 months, I still haven't been able to organize my play lists in the order I want, but now I've learned to make do and just listen to the music in a random mode - but that's not a preferrable system of organization. It's just too hard to edit and download. I also bought new headphones and the sound quality is great. I bought one for my niece for college and am buying another for my daughter. I love the Nomad Jukebox and would recommend it to anybody.

The creative jokebox is a great way to take all your mp3's away with you to listen to, however for taking down town with you while you walk round shopping its hard to find a pocket that would fit it. Plus for everyday listening to music who needs 20gb of music anyway, i thought i did, but i aint even filled half of it. Also another problem is that it runs on 4 batteries and they dont last long enough, be lucky to get 6 hours out of them.
