No good for toasting
by apsophie ,Oct 21 '08
Pros: Very nice looking Seems to work well as an oven. Cons: No good for toasting.
This is an oven not a toaster. If you want to toast, there is a dial that is so hard to turn that I thought I must be trying to turn it the wrong way. Called Cuisinart customer service and their representative said it was sometimes hard to turn in the beginning but would get better. The same dial is used as your oven timer. If you turn it 3/4 of the way around, you have 60 minutes. To make toast, you have to turn it past 20 minutes and then back almost (but not quite) all the way. Less than 1/12 of the dial is allocated to the short time you would want for toasting. It is impossible to get the placement just right so that your toast is brown but not burned. So if you want toast, you must stand there looking at it to be sure it doesn't burn. The toaster does not go off when the door is opened, so you need to turn that hard-to-turn dial off when you are done, or just let it keep going. I am very surprised that Cuisinart would release such a poorly engineered product.

Decent, very nice looking toaster oven
by greenspace999 ,Mar 22 '09
Pros: Deep and spacious, yet not too wide or tall. Nice appearance. Cons: Just one rack. Rack does not slide out when you open the door. Annoying timer.
Be sure to get the one that only has a 30 minute dial, not 60 minutes. I read it's been improved. Ours is kind of hard to turn, but not a huge issue. My other complaints are that it only came with one rack and the ticking noise while cooking is very fast-paced and annoying. Our Oster toaster oven, which lasted us seven years and still works great, had a much slower tick that wasn't a bother. It also had a bottom tray that slid out when you opened the door. I would have gotten a newer, silver one of those except that I liked the looks of this one better. I'm still considering returning it and getting the KitchenAid Countertop Oven. My friend has one and likes it, she only said that it gets very hot on top and that her 5-year-old has burnt herself.

no off switch
by hazylilac ,Feb 13 '09
Pros: great size, i like the dials for cooking styles. heats up quickly. Cons: no on/off switch. the timer is very difficult to turn counter clockwise
I bought this and returned it. The only way to turn it off is by turning the timer back to an 0 and it was very difficult to turn. Even when I (actually, my boyfriend had to turn it for me) turned it to 0, it was still on. I had to pull the plug out of the wall, not a good idea.

Cuisinart TOB-60 1500 Watts Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking
by snellville ,Jan 11 '09
Pros: Very spacious, nice looking. You can cook a 12 inch pizza. Cons: Hard to read and use dials. Comes back on after light goes out.
Cuisinart has always had a good reputation. I bought it because of the brand name. But this is not a toaster oven. The dials are hard to read and use. Like the other person, it is very difficult to toast without burning. It also comes back on when the timer goes off. It even has come back on after turning the dial to off and the light goes out. I'm afraid to leave the room without unplugging from the wall.
