Pros: Clear picture; Flexible recording options Cons: Menu system can get confusing; Longer learning curve
Satellite television is something I never used in the past. With the popularity of standard cable and the competitive companies to choose from, I always stuck with basic cable for my television needs. But today, I have a new home in a new state so I ...
Pros: Lots of programming with a great digital video recorder. Cons: Operation of remote and video recorder requires some "teckie" skill.
After years of getting cable television via Adelphia (remember their scandal?), I decided to switch over to the DISH Network. That was over two years ago. My original installation included a DTV receiver, which was just replaced because the first one ...
Pros: Nice PVR options, good remote, good picture quality. Cons: Another remote for the caddy, DVR recording and deletion problematic, no actual USB support
We recently subscribed to the Dish Network and upgraded to a receiver with a personal video recorder (PVR). After quite a few installation headaches (the first attempt they were a no-show and the second attempt was 3 hours late and finished at about ...
Pros: Records tons of shows, works perfectly with program guide, many features and settings Cons: Takes a little while to learn everything it does
I hooked up with DISH network almost a year ago and I am so glad I went with the DVR option. I have the dual tuner, standard definition 100-hour recording model. As the title of my review implies, this is my first DVR and I love it. I rarely watch ...
Pros: Easy to use, great features, no more missed shows Cons: there are none
I have this and I absolutely love this thing. We have had it for about one and one half years and now we wouldn't know what to do without it. We can set up programs to be recorded even when we are not around. It records just one show, a show each ...
Pros: Ease of use and ease of learning a new product. Cons: Not one single on comes to mind!
We had burned up so many VCRs that it was time to go digital. I'm VCR illiterate and PC driven. I figured it all out in a matter of about 15 minutes. My wife is VCR literate and basically was pick up the remote and run. Lots of menus means lots of options. Lots of toys. We had a great installer that upgraded our two Dish 500 system and without adding one additional wire. He had the whole system in and running on three tvs in less than an hour and if the new person at DISH that he called had her ducks in a row, it would have been faster. With all the free install and free upgrade options, this is the best $5 a month we have ever spent. Plug in the phone line. The primary reason is to have the line is the temptation to buy a pay per view movie and the revenue that they gain from that.
Pros: easy to use, lots of options Cons: a little bulky compared to my other stuff.
I got DVR and I will never live with out it again. I can watch Desperate Housewives and speed through commercials. I can keep up with shows that I otherwise don't have the time to watch. I love the options that you have as far as recording every episode or just new ones. Plus when I go out of town I know that I am not missing any of my shows. I don't think I have learned all the features that come with it but I am pretty good with the ones that I have mastered. Also I love that caller ID pops up on my TV screen when the phone rings. I don't even get up for telemarketers any more.
Pros: 2 separate tivo functions Cons: Hot, hot, hot. LARGE.
All 522 receivers I have put in (orig plus 4 replacements)
has had one or more problems. Bad cooling fan, bad switch,
bad 2nd tv output, more. Need to reset it often to keep it right.
