Pros: it works! Cons: more expensive than the others, hard to find
I am a first time mom and when my newborn daughter had an awful, red rash on her bottom I freaked. I had tried all the other creams to no avail. My sister recommended this to me and it worked. Within hours after applying the creamy white stuff to her...
Pros: WORKS! thick, creamy, no perfume! WORKS FAST! Cons: a little expensive, but little goes a long way. Maybe hard to find in stores?
My 12 month old daughter has had frequent and persistant diaper rashes her entire life. I have probably gone through 12 tubes of Desitin in the last 12 months (my son only went through 1 tube his whole first year). This last rash was particularly ...
Pros: Dr. Smith's is the only diaper cream that worked for us. Cons: More expensive than the rest, and we had to order it online.
We've had a couple of very difficult bouts of diaper rash with our now 18-month old daughter, and we've tried everything...literally every diaper cream on the baby aisle shelf, and we also were washing thoroughly with dove sensitive skin soap...
Pros: Clears up rash quickly. Works on other rashes as well. Cons: More expensive than other products on the market.
When my middle child was born, he was prone to ear infections. As a result, we had many antibiotics over the course of the first year of his life. These in turn caused many horrible rashes. He was allergic to several antibiotics, and would end up with a ...
Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment - **Absolutely Fantastic** by thecollielady ,Sep 02 '04
Pros: Works real quick and only need to use a little bit. Cons: None.
I have tried many different diaper creams and this one is by far the best I have every tried. My Pediatrician recommended it and she said that within an hour I would see a considerable difference (pink rash instead of red) and she was right. Every time my son has had a rash it has usually disappeared over night with the use of Dr. Smith's.
I now live in Canada so it is not available here so I have to have it shipped. I have tried a few different cream's here to see if they work as well but they do not. If your child has a rash I would definitely recommend Dr. Smith's. You can't go wrong. The price may seem high because the jar is small but you don't need to use much and you don't have to put it on for long as the rash goes away quickly. Another thing my pediatrician told me was to use corn starch baby powder with the cream as it will absorb liquid and will help keep the bottom dry.
awesome -- nothing else worked for me by lavcat1 ,Jul 21 '05
Pros: Goes on very thick, and stays were it's put. Cons: expensive and not many pharmacies carry it, best order it online.
My daughter got a rash that was an open blister type and nothing I did got rid of it, until my doctor gave me a small sample of this and it worked!!!!!! She seems to be allergic to many things and it takes time to figure it out, but in the mean time at least I have Dr. Smiths to clear it up quickly.
When my husband and I were in our child birthing class there was only one diaper ointment that the Nurse running would recommend.....Dr Smiths. Because of this we have had it from the day our son was born. Anytime he has shown just a little red spot on his bottom or anywhere else we use this and its gone. He has never had a diaper rash at this point and he is 9 1/2 months old. We love this stuff!!!
Here is a little about Dr Smith's:
-Treats Diaper Rash
-Forms Protective moisture barrier
-Prevents many forms of Skin Irritation
-Easy to apply
-Pleasing odor
-Time Tested Product
-Contains Active Zinc Oxide
-Recommended by many pediatricians physicians and pharmacists.
What else can I say? Its great! I have many friends having babies right now and I get them all Dr Smiths!
We have tried many diaper creams and ointments for my daughter during the past 2 years. However, I only buy Dr. Smith's now. It clears up diaper irritation or rashes overnight, sometimes within hours!
The ointment goes on thick and stays on, which is the key to preventing and treating rashes. Other creams and ointments seem to wear off quickly and mostly just end up in the diaper.
It may cost a little more than some of the other name brand creams, but it is worth every cent!
Pros: WORKS AFTER THE FIRST APPLICATION. Cons: Higher price, but worth it.
Even though it is higher in price...it is better to buy this first than to try all the others. You will save money in the long run and this WILL WORK the 1st time. I used it on my son after trying everything my doctor told me to try. I finally went to the pharmacy and asked them. My pharmacist told me the only thing he will buy is Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment. I bought it and IT WORKED THE VERY FIRST APPLICATION and MY SON STOPPED CRYING. THIS IS THE BEST STUFF.
