We bought ours 2 years ago through overstock.com. It has been so worth it! We vacuumed one side of the room with the Dyson and the other side with a Kirby. The Dyson won hands down- no question! I thought it would be good, but I was still surprised. It is easy to use if you have common sense. It's easy to empty with no mess; we empty it into our garbage can that has a lid. It really is so powerful. It's kinda cool to see all that stuff that the other vac missed. It is a little bit loud, but that wasn't what we were after. It's not very heavy and the cord and hose are plenty long. We really love it!

Pros: The most powerful, easy to clean vacuum hands down
Cons: High cost but it's totally worth it

We purchased our Dyson in June after obscene amounts of research and we're so glad we did. It is WAY more powerful than all kinds of machines we tried, easy to use and clean and literally makes vacuuming a joy (OK as close to it as possible). Everything about this product is well engineered, attachments go on quickly, canister is easy and mess free to empty, two settings (barefloor and carpet) make it a no-brainer and as owners of a Labrador Shedder er, make that Retriever, we consider the Dyson mandatory grooming equipment. Save your floors, rugs, sanity and marriage if you have a shedding dog and get this thing.

Simply the best vacuum engineered to date. We have four cats and I am amazed out how much hair is cleaned up with so little effort. If you have many pets or kids, it is worth every penny!! It is also surprisingly quiet compared to other high amp brands. I purchased a factory reconditioned one and you wouldn't know the difference if they didn't tell you.

Pros: Picks up dog hair like nothing I have ever seen.
Cons: The handle is a bit cumbersome when using the hand vac portion of the cleaner.

I purchased a Dyson Animal Vacuum cleaner about 2 months ago. I had read the reviews on epinions and decided to give it a try. Although the price is higher than some, it is well worth the extra money. I have three dogs, and I have never had a vacuum pick up so much dog hair. I knew when the dogs started shedding there was lots of hair, but this is totally unbelievable...it picks up everything. I also use it on my laminate floors and it does one great job. The Dyson Animal is the best vacuum I have ever purchased. If you have animals, then you need a Dyson.

I purchased a new Dyson Animal after being impressed with the information I read on the Dyson website. If the vacuum could be as great as the website is, I might have been satisfied. I didn't have a problem spending $499.00 on a vacuum, because I thought that for the price I would be getting a good machine. I had to vacuum over things 2 to 3 times before it would pick it up. The things were just laying on top of my carpet, NOT wedged in. The bare floor option did not pick up things on my hard wood floors. I did return it for another one thinking it was maybe a lemon, but my second one did the same thing. On my second machine, I can't close the bottom of the canister once I emptied the dirt out...I am totally not happy with the Dyson. I am now looking into other brands.

Pros: Built like a tank, never have to think about buying another vacuum! Bagless.
Cons: Initially expensive, accessories also expensive.

Sometimes products are so good, they transcend beyond the mere functions they perform. Similar to what the ipod has done to MP3 players or the original VW beetle to cars, Dyson has something special here. OK, it's a vacuum, and an expensive one at that, how can it be different you ask?

It's in the engineering, it just works so well and every part seems as if it will last forever. From using the attachments, or emptying the collector, it just works exactly the way you would want it to. We have allergies (and a Yorkie) and definitely feel that this has helped.
Even my cleaning lady was impressed!

In this disposal age where I find myself buying (and rebuying) more and more stuff.....I appreciate the workmanship in this product.

Forget air purifiers, all you need is a Dyson. I was shopping for a great vacuum. I read all the reviews on the Dyson dc07, good and bad. I thought that I would try it out myself. I'm glad I did. the first night I used it I also dusted my furniture. I wanted to see if my vacuum was the reason it was so dusty in my house. 7 days later I still did not have to dust. this vacuum is great. It may be expensive to start, but no one ever mentioned I would have clean air and not have to dust. I'm saving more time and money with my Dyson. attachments work great (just make sure they are clicked in place) the hose works great for my stairs. Most of all it picks up dirt in the carpet like you wouldn't believe. It isn't any heavier then my old $35 reconditioned hoover vacuum.

Pros: Great suction power,no bags needed,easy maintenance, great attachments and extension hose!
Cons: Do not know how it would be on stairs. The cost.

I have had my Dyson DC07 for 3 1/2 years now. I finally gave in and bought it because all of my other vacuums broke after a year or two.Let me tell you, even though it seems expensive it truly IS worth the money you pay for it. When I think of how much I spent in a three year period to purchase other vacuums, I wish I had bought this one to begin with.There are so many things I really like about it. First, after three and half years, it STILL has great suction power. You don't have to buy bags for it. It is easy to empty. The only cleaning to do on it is the filter; also very easy to do. That needs to be done once every six months. The attachments and extensions are also great. Even with the smaller vacuuming attachment on it, the suction was incredible! Also, the extension rod and hose seemed longer than on my other vacuum cleaners.

Pros: Great sucking power, good attachments and hose. Very versatile.
Cons: slightly heavy.

By far the best vacuum I have ever used. We were fans of the Oreck, and not too sure about the "baggless" option. A sister told us to give it a shot, and were very happy the first time used. The pet hair is gone, and this is a first. Don't be scared away by the commercials showing the dirt flying all over the place when you dump the cannister. The gunk gets clumped together and dumps fine to me. (I just take it to the garage any way)

It is a bit on the heavy side, and feals like it may not hold up to much of a beating, like the oreck, but after a month of use I am not too concerned any more.

I give it my highest rating.

Cons: Price. Its purple! Lack of self retracting cord.

I originally didnt want to spend this much on a vac, but geeez, this isnt just a vacuum, its a VACUUM!
After vacuuming with our old cleaner, it still picked up two canisters of dirt and dog hair from our house. The bagless canister is easy and touchless to empty and the hepa filter is permanent, no more buying replacements.

Its perfect!

Pros: Lightweight, picks up a ton of yucky dirt and dog hair!

Bought this about a year ago, and let me tell you it is unbelievable what this thing picks up. We have two 100 lb dogs, and two boys under the age of 3, and this thing is amazing. We were looking into buying a Rainbow vacuum, but couldn't see spending over $1500 for a vacuum cleaner. This vacuum goes above and beyond our expectations!
The first time we used it, we had to empty it after the first room! Works great on hard floors, the telescoping extension is very handy, the upholstery attachment works great. Even my house cleaner said this is the best vacuum she's ever used. Its lightweight, and easy to go up and down stairs. Use it almost daily and have had no problems with any of the components. Its also pretty quiet for a vacuum cleaner.

Cons: Weight!. Hard to manoeuvre, poor tools, advertising mans dream, a homemakers nightmare,

Sorry Mr Dyson - you may have made millions but this is so heavy to carry and move about the house. Bought one for my Mum and she got rid of it after about 2 months it's such a heavy weight to carry and move and not at all easy to manoeuvre.

I'm almost 30 years younger and have the same complaint - it weighs a ton! Have also to say it requires a degree in engineering to sort out and take out and put back in the various bits. The tool selection is also quite poor and they're not really that good.

Suction is great but it's a nightmare on rugs, doesn't change surfaces with ease.

Overall rating 2 on 10 - think it's a great branding exercise and will be bought by millions who think it's the right label. Just hope none of them act like the people in the 'Emperors new clothes and go along with the hype - the colours are gorgeous, practicality Zilch.

Looking for a new vacuum and selling this.

I have a purple animal Dyson and all I can say is I LOVE my Dyson! This vacuum is the BEST I've ever owned. I have many dogs and a lot of dog hair and dust and dirt in the house from the dogs. Right before my Dyson arrived I vacuumed with my FQ vac and the carpets looked good. I immediately used the Dyson and the amount of dirt that came out of this carpet was amazing! And in the 6 years that I've lived in this house, there has never been any kind of nap on the carpet here in my Family Room, but after I finished vacuuming with the Dyson, there WERE carpet marks on the carpet and the nap was standing up! I was amazed!
When I emptied the vacuum it was soooo easy and there was no dust cloud to be seen! No bags, no dust, no worry!
I will never ever own any other kind of vacuum as long as I live! I am a true Dyson kind of gal!!!

I have owned all of the top of the line: Electrolux, Oreck, Kirby and a Beam central vacuum system. This Dyson beats them all in results of cleaning. I find it easy to use and very effective. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is worth the high price tag. I bought mine at Sears and paid it over time without finance charges.

You do have to take some things apart to use it but it is not hard to do. It works very well on carpeting as well as hard flooring.

The only drawback is that I have to cut the hair off the beater bar after two to three cleanings of my upstairs carpet. Probably because there are three women with long hair in the house.

Great on dust. I use it to vacuum my wooden Plantation shutters. The bagless container is SO easy to clean.

Go for it you won't regret it.

This is an amazing vacuum cleaner! We don't have an animal in the house but we have a toddler and she leaves trails everywhere she goes. It could be sand, dirt, crackers, ... you name it... and the Dyson picks all of it up. The woman that professionally cleans our house even is amazed at it's power and it's true - it never looses suction. The price may be a little high but it's worth every penny. I've recommended it to so many of our friends and they have all loved it.
