Dyson DC15

by dxenion , Apr 27 '09
Pros: Pet hair and dander removal, cannister emptying design
Cons: Un-user friendly telescoping wand, hose recoil on new machines.
After many very happy years with an Amway CMS1000 bagless upright, I bought another brand (cant remember which one) when the Amway finally died, only to discover I had made a very bad choice. After returning it and then googling for the best vacuum ...

Dyson animal

by bridgecollie , May 24 '08
Pros: It does everything the box claims it would
Cons: Was concerned with the cost
One of the worst chores I have is sweeping the floors. I own collies. They are in the mist of shedding season so my carpets looks like it has tumble weeds all over it. I got the dyson animal and WOW. Swept the first room and it picked up so much loose ...

Watch the dirt pile up!

by fridaynight , Mar 13 '08
Pros: Sucks well, dirt stays in canister.
Cons: Long wand proves hard to use in car.
I received the Dyson DC 15 about 18 months ago. My husband purchased it on clearance at Target - making it fit within our budget of what we think a Vacuum should cost. I was very impressed with how simple and easy the instructions were and how simple ...

Okay, but not the greatest

by amymomof4 , Jan 05 '08
Pros: Does a good job.
Cons: Not durable.
When my 8 year old Eureka called it quits, I was very excited to jump on the Dyson bandwagon. I decided to go with the Ball because I found a fairly good deal on e-bay. The Dyson certainly picks up more dirt than my previous vacuum. And I love ...

Pros: Lightweight, great suction, very appealing to the eye, nice enough to want to steal!
Cons: Well, it's definitely not a Kirby! :)
Well, I got this product after my grandparents purchased one about a year and a half ago and raved on and on about theirs. After helping my grandmother vacuum a few times at her home; I knew what all the hype was about. Not only does the Dyson have a ...

Pros: a status symbol, great suction, easy to use, bagless that doesn't uh..suck.
Cons: More expensive than most vacuums, telescopic handle a little hard to use.
Ok I just couldn't hold back with the title. Here's the background, I saw a discovery channel story about vacuums, and one portion centered on James Dyson. Specifically about his long trek to discovering a "better Vacuum." Did you know that he made ...

Who knew vacuuming could be fun?

by multitaskqueen , Jul 18 '07
Pros: Works great on all floors and is easy to push, steer and empty.
Cons: Inflexible attachment hose is hard to use.
I have to admit, the idea of spending $400 to $500 on a vacuum cleaner seemed, well, ludicrous. But after more than six months of owning a Dyson DC15 Ball vacuum, I can honestly say it was worth every penny and I have no regrets. For three years I owned ...

Pros: Great suction. No bags. Easy to maneuver with practice.
Cons: Non-retractable cord. Size/bulk/weight. Touchy release/lock mechanism. Short life of roller brush.

by drizler , Mar 15 '07
Pros: Rugged, simple, functional, balanced, powerful, no dust, relatively quiet
Cons: Price somewhat high, headlight would be nice

A vacuum actually worth $400!

by mattmeitzner , Mar 10 '07
Pros: Good sucking power, easy to empty, very maneuverable
Cons: High pitched noise
I've owned and used a number of vacuums in my life. The best one I ever used was a $1,200 Kirby vacuum, and the worst was probably a $40 Hoover. So my creed is pretty much that you get what you pay for. I liked the bagless vacuums that I've used, ...

Cons: Wish we had one sooner.

Cons: Difficult to clean stairs, hose collapses on itself and isn't long enough.

Dyson DC15: Vacuum Cleaners Usually Do Not Excite Me, But.......

Very disappointed with my Dyson Vacuum - And the company
by wplayer ,Jul 30 '09
Pros: Great suction, maneuverability, & easy dirt disposal.

Great, when it works.
Cons: Expensive!!!

Shocks you when using.

Brushes stopped working.

Customer Service is deplorable!
I purchased my Dyson Ball (DC15) for a whopping $600!!! I figured it would be worth it to have purchased a quality product that would do a good job, and last. We were on eof the first to ever purchase this product (according to the Dyson rep at the store). I was initially very happy with the vacuum...until it started shocking us when we used it. Eventually the brushes stopped working. Without going deep into the details of this fiasco, I've been working with Dyson for over six weeks now, to no avail. It takes them days to respond. When I call I just end up talking to numerous people who can't or won't help me. It's a big charade.

It is my opinion that a product is only as good as it customer service. And when a $600 vacuum breaks, and the customer service is unwilling to help resolve it, and keep putting you through the ringer...clearly the customer does not come first in that company. Any company that treats their customers like this will not receive my business again. Nor will they receive my family's or friend's business if I have anything to say about it.

If you can love a vacuum, I love this one!
by stomli1 ,Jun 15 '09
Pros: Worth the money, worth the money, worth the money, worth the money, worth the money
Cons: None None None None None None None None None None None None None None None
I've had Kirby's, Eureka's and Hoover's for years and thought they did a good job.  I also thought I lived in the dustiest house in the world.  I woke up in the middle of the night and the TV was on one of the shopping channels.  They were offering 4 payments and I thought I can do that.  I got on the phone immediately and ordered it.  It took me about 30 minutes to get it out of the box because it is so well packaged.  But when I vacuumed, I couldn't believe all the "stuff" coming out of the carpet.  I have dogs that shed and I knew there would be a lot but I think this vacuum went all the way to the backing of the carpet.  And...the furniture isn't dusty 30 minutes after I dust.  AMAZING!  I can actually vacuum my stairs!  I'm getting new carpet in the next couple of weeks so I know it will be worth what I paid for it.

Although this is the heaviest vacuum I've ever owned, the Dyson's swivel action makes it fairly easy to maneuver around furniture.  I bought it as an all-in-one solution for the three vacuums I had been using (one for bare floors, one for carpet, one for stairs/chairs).  However, I still have to use three vacuums since the Dyson only effectively vacuums carpeted surfaces.  It only picks up about half of the crumbs from the bare floors.  The attachments fall off very easily, so I had to use velcro to keep them in place.  The attachments are not helpful unless the user is 5'0" or under, since the attachment hose is so short.  It eats rugs just as any other vacuum.

Dyson DC15 The Ball
by dmsgars ,Oct 18 '08
Pros: When it did work which is very very occasionally, it was tremendous.
Cons:

Very difficult engagement of the wheels making it impossible to vacuum carperting.

I purchased this vacuum in August and it took me all of one week to loath it. It is cumbersome to use, the on-board tools and the wand are difficult, in my opinion. The wheels that must be in the upright position for the carpet suction will not stay up. My husband has to "rig" the vacuum when I want to use it. Once I put the vacuum upright, I have to wait for him to rig it again. I can go over a down feather, a small piece of thread, an itty bitty piece of paper and it will only pick it up less than 50% of the time. This was a total waste of over $400 and I am sick about it! I still owe $300!!

Emissions bad
by mtlizard ,Jul 30 '08
Pros: Moves effortlessly
Cons: Too much emissions!
We bought this in 3/07 at first thought wow, love it. Then i noticed my walls and everything were really dusty all the time. i am a clean freak. The more i vacuumed the dirtier things got . I called Dyson and said to ck a few things, ok one thing was a little off (not due to me) so i said i would try again and things went from bad to worse. I have to say i live in a little tiny 900 sq foot house, so this was bad! Maybe in a bigger home it takes longer to fill full of dirt , but i woould be careful. I recently sent them an email, and has been four days and no response. Did some more research on line and have found some others with simalar propblems and Dyson knows their vac leak but dont care as they have your $! Be careful, and watch your home, i wash walls once a year and they in fifteen years had never been dirter!

DC 15 Animal model
by golf_bruddah ,Jul 13 '08
Pros: Incredible cleaning ability. Long cord. Ease of disposing canister. All of the attachments.
Cons: Price I guess... But worth it.
Sorry that this is a short review. All in all, great vacuum!!! I was almost embarrassed after using it the first time after seeing how much dust and dirt it picked up! And yes, we do vacuum twice a week. I guess that is a testament to how well the Dyson works. I have two kids, a cat and dog in the house and it does wonders. If I saw an infomercial with the before and after results of collected dust, I would not believe it. Prior vacuum was a Hoover. Bye bye Hoover!

Pros: vacs fine, turns easy,
Cons: lot of weight, dirty when you empty, cough, cough!!
We bought from a E-commerce company on the East coast that doesn't carry the BBB-On-Line Reliability Participation seal on their website.

We were sent a customer returned product!

We sent it back, then the company sent me out another one and that one too was a return from another customer. We had Dyson corporate run the serial #'s, which came back as returned products from another company. The "company denies any wrong doing and blames another party for the defective product.

Please read the companies " return policy ", as the company I had to deal with was protected from all angles and tried to get me to pay for return shipping and restocking fees for others mistakes.

We ended up buying a Eureka Boss, from Costco, who, has an EXCELLENT return policy!

Dyson DC15 SHREDS the CARPET!
by tell_it ,Jun 09 '07
Pros: Great suction.
Cons: Shreds the carpet fibers, heavy, bulky, awkward using hose/attachment (keeps recoiling), very pricey.
I love the suction on this vacuum cleaner however I noticed that it kept shredding the carpet fibers. I have a cut-pile carpet that is not new and this vacuum cleaner continually shredded the carpet fibers. If I continued using this vacuum cleaner, I will have destroyed my carpets!

Every time I used the hose/attachments, the hose would keep recoiling. I had to sling the hose over my shoulders in order to keep it from recoiling so much. This was my first upright and I found that the vacuum was too big to fit in many places so I had to switch to the hose/attachments.

I think this would be a great vacuum cleaner if Dyson made the bristles less coarse to avoid destroying the carpet fibers, figure out a way to make the hose less cumbersome and slim down the unit to make it fit in tighter spaces.

Dyson DC 15 Animal, Super!!!!
by flames9 ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: Cleaning Power, attachments, bagless, Air filter can be cleaned in water
Cons: Price(but it does a superb job)
Recently purchased the Dyson Dc15 from Bed bath & Beyond, was able to use their 20% off coupon that one finds in all of their flyers. The vacuum comes in a few pieces, but even a simple man like myself can put it together in a matter of minutes. My old vacuum was a Kenmore upright vacuum, I thought it did a good job, but after 1 round of cleaning with the Dyson, I soon realized the Dyson was far superior. I vacuum at least 3 times a week (we have 2 cats and 1 dog), I had just vacuumed the day prior with my old Kenmore upright vacuum, so I wasnt expecting to see that much dirt debris in the Dyson, boy was I wrong!! The canister wasn't quite half full, but pretty close, amazing!!
The wand does take some time to get used to, but after awhile it's a breeze. So far extremely pleased with the Dyson DC15 vacuum

Don't waste your hard-earned money...
by ratboy1027 ,Mar 13 '07
Pros: Doesn't loose suction - I guess.
Cons: Difficult to use with attachments and doesn't clean int he places I'd like it to.
I read all the wonderful reviews and decided to get a Dyson just two weeks ago. It doesn't reach under my kitchen cabinets because it is too tall. It also makes a strange noise when I try to vacuum a very low pile rug. Also, the hose is difficult to pull out and connect the attachments to. Thankfully, I only paid $250 for my Dyson (after using a 20% off coupon and applying for the store credit card)Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it!!!

A great vacuum that delivers visible results!
by itskathy ,Feb 02 '07
Pros: Easy maneuverability, great power and suction. The telescopic wand is very handy.
Cons: The cord is sometimes hard to maneuver around, lacks suction control
The Dyson DC15 The Ball is easy on the eye and on your arms. The ball design and low head allows you to reach under and around furniture unlike other upright vacuums.

I had originally purchased the Dyson DC17 Animal. Although that vacuum did a great job, it was hard to use around furniture and up against baseboards and the tools were not the greatest. I exchanged it for the Ball and couldn't be happier. I did purchase (separately) the mini turbine tool which is great for cleaning stairs and furniture. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and actually do not mind vacuuming now - which is a major accomplishment!

Dyson DC15 Ball
by willowgrove ,Jan 26 '07
Pros: design, suction, ease of debris disposal
Cons: price, need to purchase additional tools, awkwardness of hose/wand
After seeing the wear and tear continue on my carpets using my Oreck I decided to break down and purchase a Dyson DC15 (ball).
Using an on-line coupon for 20% off, I ordered on-line for in-store pick up at Linens 'n Things, making the purchase somewhat more affordable.
Set up was a snap (literally) and I started to vacuum immediately. Oh My Gosh, the dust and dirt it picked up was astounding and embarrassing. I didn't get the results I had read about and hoped for but it did a much better job on my carpets than my 4 year old Oreck. The wand is awkward to handle and I'm hoping it gets easier the more it's used. Like other reviews, I found
Disposal of the debris is easy.

4 months after purchase - This is the most amazing vacuum cleaner I have ever used and a godsend to my carpets!! The nap to my carpeting has come back and the carpeting is CLEAN, I don't mean "look clean", THEY ARE CLEAN!!!
I'm still not thrilled with the wand but that can be overlooked in light of the superior cleaning ability of this vacuum.

Good Vacuum
by manders1st ,Jan 10 '07
Pros: Great Suction & Easy to Maneuver
Cons: Tool extender and hose are a pain and static electricity buildup
After being unhappy with quite a few vacuums I decided to try the Dyson. The suction is outstanding (may even suck a golf ball through a garden hose). However it seems to build up a great deal of static electricity and shocks me. Every time I run it the hairs on my arms stand up due to the static. Perhaps it's just my electric personality. The canister is easy to empty and doesn't take long before it's full due to the suction. Its Really easy to maneuver with the ball. The hand tool extender and hose are a bit tedious to operate. I would say a great all around vacuum.

Best Vacuum EVER!!!
by rrolston ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: suction, long hose, stair attachment, convenient
Cons: i guess it wouldn't hurt to have a retractable cord- but i'm not complaining!!!
having 3 inside dogs, this is the best vacuum i have found that actually cleans pet hair!!! its a little pricey but in the long run i'm sure i'll save money since i don't have to go out and buy a $150 vacuum every year- if it even lasted that long!! if you have pets this vacuum is an absolute MUST HAVE!!! the people who say they don't like it must have been using it wrong or else it was broken!!! i don't see how anyone couldn't fall in love with this vacuum!!!

Great vacuum, great deal
by fredamr ,Oct 15 '06
Pros: Great suction, great deal
Cons: Have not found any yet
I have been researching different vacuums and was very impressed with the reviews that I read about the Dyson vacuums. One of my good friends purchased a the Ball and I tried it out on my house and was very pleased with the results.

The machine handles very well, is extremely quite and the amount of dirt, etc. that got out of my "clean" carpets from my Hoover Windtunnel (5 years old) was really amazing.

The great deal comes from the fact that I bought this at our local Linens and Things store. Linens and Things and Bed Bath and Beyond normally have 20% off coupons in our advertisements on a weekly basis and each of the two organizations accepts each others coupons. So, I was able to use the 20% off coupon at Linens and Things to purchase the Dyson for $400. They also had a special on a number of vacuums where if the price was over $299 you receive a $100 gift card to Linens and Things after sending in the rebate coupon.

So far I am very pleased with the vacuum and will update this in the future if I experience any change in opinion.

Now THIS is a vacuum cleaner!
by spotalbert ,Sep 30 '06
Pros: Incredible suction and very easy to maneuver
Cons: None worth mentioning.
I have never had a vacuum with the suction the Dyson has. I have four cats and have to vacuum frequently, so this vacuum gets a workout. I've had it for a year and the suction is as strong now as the first time I used it. You won't believe the amount of hair and dust this vacuum will pick up. I vacuumed yesterday and, about an hour later, my daughter was rolling around on the carpet wearing a black shirt. When she got up, there was not a cat hair to be seen on her shirt.

If I had to complain, I would say that the hose could be a bit longer - I can't vacuum my entire staircase without having to move the vacuum. I think saying the hose has a seventeen-foot reach is a bit optimistic. That is my only complaint; however, and I do not hesitate to highly recommend this vacuum.

Terrific Vacuum, Great Suction
by vickie54 ,Jun 18 '06
Pros: Great suction, easy to use, love it!
Cons: The price is higher than I wanted to pay.
I bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum and used it twice. I returned it to the store for a refund. I then purchased the Dyson DC15 and vacuumed where I had just run the Hoover. I picked up half a canister of dust, etc. that the Hoover left behind. This vacuum is terrific. It holds it's suction even using the attachments. I can run it on the carpet or on the bare floor and it picks up everything. I have to be careful that I don't suck up my little 2 pound Chihuahua! I even saved $100 using a Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon.

Works great, using attachments is a pain
by bluecarolj ,Jun 02 '06
Pros: Doesn't clog, picks up just about anything, no bags, easy to empty
Cons: Expensive, and the attachment is a real pain to use. Heavy.
The Dyson is a really good vacuum cleaner because it picks up just about anything (including tons of dog hair), doesn't jam, is easy to empty. However, I find that using the attachments are a pain - you have to practically take it apart to use the attachment so I vacuum the whole house and then go back and use the attachment for corners, edges of carpet, sofa, etc. Because of the attachment issue, I wish we had bought something else especially since it's so expensive.

Dyson is no better, just different design
by robertjuliano ,Apr 12 '06
Pros: Looks cool and comes in different colors
Cons: Way to much money for another plastic throw away vacuum, blows dust, has filters
Watch the television commercial a little closer and REALLY listen. All he does is confuse people with his explanation of how it works and it sounds like he knows what he's saying. Pay attention though, He says all vacuum clears have filters that plug up because of the microscopic holes restricting suction. True, He would like us to believe that the special cones he designed have something to do with filtering. It doesn't because if it did, Then why does the Dyson have 2 Hepa filters and two other filters? Dyson blows dust and it has 4 (Four) filters to plug up. He never says anything about his filters. It's not until you buy one and read the owners manual.

The same man that invented the Fantom vacuum invented Dyson. They are now out of business. I have been in the vacuum business for 16 years now and I have been watching these company’s come and go. People don't like door-to-door sales so you are left with cheep vacuums that you throw away and THEY DON’T WORK. A rake will do as good of a job as today’s store bought vacuums. So keep buying cheep America…

Disappointed
by wawawaterboy ,Mar 25 '06
Pros: No bags.
Cons: Heavy. awkward. Bad on bare floors. Poor hose and wand function. Not worth the $$$$
This vacuum was a complete disappointment. I spent $500 and thought I was getting a state of the art vacuum. I was nothing more than a victim of brilliant marketing. Heavy, awkward, and uncooperative. I got static shock on my hand every time I used it. The hose for the wand was short and when you used it, it would drag the heavy vacuum around behind you. Horrible on bare floors. Would blow debris away from vacuum a lot. Try before you buy a must! And keep your receipt.

Wow...what a vacuum
by cgc2 ,Mar 03 '06
Pros: Power, cleaning ability, ease of use.
Cons: None so far.
So, after reading these threads and reviews I went to my local Bestbuy to demo the unit with my spouse. She loved it so I ordered one on line.
The unit on line(Total Clean Package) came with the normal accessories, plus the Mini Turbine Head, Mattress Cleaning Head, and Stiff cleaning brush.
It took maybe 1 minute to set system up and begin to vacuum and boy does this thing vacuum. I felt betrayed by what appeared to be clean carpets, only to run the Dyson over them and see all that dirt and lint in the bagless canister.
My carpet appear brighter now, and the unit perform flawless on my Saltio tile as well.
Money well spent !

Used the machine again and was impressed at the continuing cleaning ability and ease of manuverability of this machine.
The attachments work well too.

Got the Dyson DC15 ANIMAL for $465 NEW!!
by sbw02 ,Jan 24 '06
Pros: Never loses airflow, cleans stuff your regular vacuum can't pick up, aesthetically pleasing..
Cons: Expensive, but I got a great deal!!
I had to post this because this is a fabulous deal today. I was thinking of buying a refurbished DC14 Animal from overstock.com or e-bay, but the cheapest one I could find was still $400. I didn't want to pay that much without the 2-year warranty, so I kept on looking. It's a great vacuum cleaner, but you want some assurance if you are going to spend that much on one.

This one is brand new from Dyson, and it's the purple Animal and Ball combined. It's retailing for $599 and backordered everywhere, every website I checked. I had to haggle a bit, but it was worth it! It will be here with 3 day shipping for free. You can't even get a refurbished one on e-bay for this price! If anyone is interested in this deal, e-mail me at sbward02@yahoo dot com, and I'll send you details. They said they'd offer the same deal to another customer with a referral.

This Vacuum will make you sick!!!!
by so2315 ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: Amazing suction, maneuverability.
Cons: Price!!
After dropping 4 big ones on this vacuum, I decided to give it a test against my Kenmore that I have had for 4 years and has been an excellent vacuum. The Kenmore has never failed to surprise me when I got to empty the bag. It literally fills the bag to over flowing.
Any way, I take this new Dyson my wife wanted, and we had changed the bag in the Kenmore and did the living room. After that was done we broke out the Dyson. After a couple of passes it was appalling!! The clear view canister was already booming with dust, lint and pet hair. Looking at this junk that was in a "clean carpet" about made me sick!!
I am sure you too will find the difference amazing, even if the high price makes you a doubter like me.

very powerful
by bkdice ,Oct 31 '05
Pros: incredible suction, low reach, vacuums close to edges, emptying the canister is SO easy
Cons: wish it had a retractable cord
i have had my dyson a few weeks and love it. i thought i kept a clean house, but apparently not. this vacuum helped revive my carpets and reduce dust in the house to almost nothing. i am dusting less often and my carpets stay looking nice for days after use. i love how it gets really close the the edges of the wall so i don't have to pull out the attachments every time i vacuum.
i don't like the cord. it's nice and long - but gets in the way. small thing i can get over.
i found the tools as easy to use as my last hoover.
i bought mine on ebay (brand new) for $375. while it's a great vacuum, the $599 retail is a little hard to swallow.
so - so far so good. i would, and have, recommended this product to friends and family.

Dyson D15 Ball Vacuum..WOW!!
by wolfz2 ,Oct 28 '05
Pros: Super Suction, glides around easily.
Cons: Heavy.
I am very impressed with this vacuum cleaner. I have always had a Kenmore canister vac. My new Dyson made me see what a difference!!! I was totally embarrassed at the amount of dirt and hair this vac picked up the first time I used it. Granted, I do have a dog and a cat, and I vacuum 2 or 3 times a week, but I was totally shocked. I had heard the Dyson Ball cleaner was a good machine, and I totally agree.

Explosive vacuum cleaner
by sdcalif ,Oct 12 '05
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Both vacuums were defective with problems I considered to be dangerous. Quality control problems.
I bought this machine, since many people recommended it for pet hair, and with 2 dogs & 3 cats, I have pet hair. The 2nd time I used the machine, it exploded. Metal came out of the motor, and it was smoking. I took the vacuum back to Target, and they didn't want to take it back since it was "used." They finally did, and I got a 2nd machine. It worked for one vacuuming, then made the most God awful noise that I was afraid to use it further. I took the machine back and bought a Hoover at 1/5 the price that works perfectly. I never got a good feel for how the vacuum functions, since both machines broke so quickly.

Just Buy it!
by hsnmef ,Sep 18 '05
Pros: Sucks dirt out of carpet like no other vacuum I have ever seen.
Cons: Expensive, but worth every penny!
I too was extremely skeptical, and found it extremely unlikely any vacuum could possibly be worth $600. But since I had new extremely plush very light colored carpet put in, I wanted to be sure it stayed as clean as carpet possibly could. You just would not believe how well it works until you see the gunk coming out of your carpet and how frequently you have to empty the canister.

I struggled for two months researching different brands and models before I finally broke down and bought a Dyson Ball Vacuum.

I am thrilled with the performance; my old Hoover Wind Tunnel was like a using a broom in comparison.

I lost one of the attachments mounted to the top of the canister within thirty days of buying it, presumably while I was gawking in amazement at the gunk coming out of the canister as a I held it over the garbage can tapping the side to empty it.

Frankly I was afraid of what the replacement part would cost, but was absolutely delighted after explaining the situation to their customer service personnel who very cheerfully mailed me another one, free of charge.

Not Worth The Money!
by vac32 ,Aug 18 '05
Pros: Suction, Somewhat Attractive, Quiet
Cons: Ease of use, Wand requires assembly for each use! Too Expensive
I am not sure what the hype is about this vacuum. I have had it for nearly a year and I am still pondering why I bought it. I have no problem paying for quality because typically "you get what you pay for" however this is the exception to the rule.

Dyson has done a few things right.

1. Good suction power
2. Somewhat attractive (but who really cares)
3. A terrific marketing program

Here are the reasons to stay away for now.

1. Too expensive
2. It does not travel under furniture easily
3. It is very difficult and time-consuming to use wand
4. Few standard attachments

Love this Vacuum!!!
by ncunningham ,Aug 10 '05
Pros: ball feature, suction, simplicity, power buttons, length of cord, length of attachment hose, etc....
Cons: There really aren't any! Unroll cord completely before using the attachment hose. No biggy!
This is the best vacuum I have ever owned! It has great suction, it is easy to use, and it has simple attachments that fit right on board. I have a Persian cat, and long hair. It picks up everything great, even fine dust particles! It is no louder than any other vacuum I have purchased and pretty light weight. I love the pivot feature of the ball, and the fact that it goes right along the edge of the baseboards! The power switch from brush to hard floor is convenient and easy. It is also great the way you push the button and the debris falls out the bottom of the canister when you are ready to empty it. The wheels retract like an airplane. Way cool!! Great overall product, but a little expensive ($550.++, I pd $579.00.) So far , it seems worth it!

first good vacuum I've owned
by loramenora ,Jul 21 '05
Pros: It works. More than I can say for any other vacuum I've owned.
Cons: Doesn't reach our top stair.
After five years of my husband's lousy Eureka, I bought the Dyson. My husband does most of the vacuuming but he protested loudly even after I got 20% off by signing up for bed, bath and beyond coupons online. (Depends on the cashier if they will honor coupon with Dyson.) I have allergies and was thrilled and stunned to see the amount of hair coming off of three small carpets despite being prepared by other reviews. At the end of the day I found my husband, who thought I was nuts to pay over $400, putting the vacuum away saying, "My new friend." Saved him half an hour. Saved me allergies. Brought one carpet back to life. And it's quiet. We love it.

Amazing
by herrc ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: Easy to maneuver. Great suction power. Telescopic wand is long.
Cons: None
Bought this vacuum to replace my hoover v2 wind tunnel as well. Easy to assemble and was up and running in minutes.

I thought height would be an issue because the vacuum head is so low to the ground. After vacuuming over 2 throw rugs in the hallway, and watching it suck up large chunks of cookies left behind by my 2 year old that fear was put to rest.

The DC-15 is much quieter than I expected and the suction power is amazing! It is especially effective on dirt against walls; no edge attachment needed here because suction from the vacuum head is more than adequate to do the job.

The telescopic wand took me a few tries to master but once I did I was happy to see how far it can reach without the vacuum tipping over like my v2 always does.

The dirt flushes itself from the canister with the push of a button.

Love it so far !!!
by nwilmom ,May 29 '05
Pros: Great suction, so easy to maneuver, twistable
Cons: A little heavier to carry than my last vacuum.
Like the previous reviewer, I replaced my Windtunnel with the Dyson DC15. It was virtually already assembled, easy to use. I love how it vacuums right up to my baseboards. The suction power is incredible compared to my last vac which was only a few years old. I love the rolling ball concept, but after years of using 'regular' vacuums I have to remind myself to just twist my wrist instead of the entire vacuum. I got this 30% at Kohl's which made it much more appealing than the original price tag.

Love this baby

Pros: Great concept on emptying the canister
Cons: no light
My husband and I debated over getting "The Ball", and after test driving it at Best Buy, I brought it home. I love the fact that you can get it out of the box, and put together in under 5 minutes.
I bought the Dyson to replace my Hoover WindTunnel v2 (which I bought 2 years ago) and it took forever to put that together. The reason I replaced it was because of it clogging up past the brushes/beater bar, and it would take 30 minutes to take apart and clean out (Try doing that twice a month.. yuck)I just got so tired of it.

The one thing I have immediately noticed, is that the DC15 edges beautifully! It get up close and personal underneath cabinets, around legs of the table, and the baseboards.

I always had to use the edge tools with the hoover (and what a pain that was) which was not easy having to bend over, fight the hose.. with the DC15, it's all right there easy to grab and go. I love the new DC15 for it's ease of use, and how clean it makes my house look.
