A triumphant choice in car seats.

by jumjum15 , Jun 13 '07
Pros: Side belt adjustment, really is suitable from birth
Cons: Tough to clean, really boring colors
We purchased this for our son before he was born, knowing we would not have an infant carseat. I don't drive that much and I sling my babies, so no bucket necessary. It was a bit of a trick to install, but I think any car seat can be the first time ...

Make sure you have a good screwdriver!

by ulikey21 , Mar 09 '06
Pros: you can adjust harness from the side, seems comfy, easy to install
Cons: Heavy, recline is difficult, washing the cover is a major pain
I bought this carseat when my daughter was getting too big for her infant carrier. The first thing I noticed is that this car seat is HEAVY! I read that it weighs 23 lbs. The weight was okay with me, I don't plan to move the seat often or travel ...

When Britax doesn't work

by amyandtherain , Oct 30 '06
Pros: Priced right. The perfect fit for small cars and big cars.
Cons: Instruction booklet holder does not hold booklet well.
My daughter is outgrowing her infant seat so this weekend we decided to install her Britax Roundabout. After an hour (and cutting up a pool noodle) we gave up. The seat was too loose, the reclining angle was not quite right and installing it was a pain. ...

I'm pulling my hair out

by catgirl1 , Sep 19 '06
Pros: price
Cons: unsafe and confusing straps; mechanisms that move straps are hard to reach and turn
I bought two of these car seats for my twins because I didn't want to pay more than $400 for a pair of Britax Roundabouts, and because users seemed to be giving the Triumph good reviews on sites like this one. Well, everything I've read about the ...

Great car seat; consumer reports pick

by kimatdcl , Apr 17 '08
Pros: - good construction - easy to adjust the straps
Cons: none
We got this because it was Consumer Reports' top pick the year our daughter was born (2004). It really is a great car seat, especially now that we have had others to compare it with. The seat is comfy, relatively easy to disassemble and wash, and VERY ...

More than OK but not superb

by theonlygirl , Jun 08 '07
Pros: Easy to use, clean, and install.
Cons: Not tall enough even for my 50 percentile child.
We bought the Evenflo Triumph when my son outgrew his infant carrier at four months old. We stopped using it when he was about 19 months old. He got too tall for it. This is really our only complaint and we will be using it for our second son once he ...

Great Seat!!

by dfisch123 , Nov 06 '06
Pros: SAFE, comfy, worth every penny!
Cons: Taking off seat cover.
I have had the Evenflo Triumph 5 for over three years now and I still love it. I purchased this seat when my son was four months old and he is now 3 1/2. True the seat is heavy but I dont move it from car to car it stays in my van. And yes there is ...

My Triumph 5

by kandrinchae , May 06 '07
Pros: Easily adjusted Easy to install Smooth recline positioner Good money for the quality.
Cons: The arm cover is easily pulled back for the styrofoam to be picked at.
When I found out my son was growing fast I was in a major quandry. We didn't have a lot of money to spend, but we needed something safe and that would last him for awhile. I didn't want to be buying a new car seat every year as that would be very ...

Nice seat, difficult knob adjustment when rear facing

by mgollin , May 09 '07
Pros: Comfy seat and rated very high for safety. Also the price was right.
Cons: The knob/straps are difficult to adjust when the seat is rear facing.
Overall, I like the seat. It was easy to install in my mini-van captain chairs with my vehicles seat anchors and appears to be large and comfortable for the baby. While rear facing- it did take up quite a bit of room that my older son had to squeeze by ...

Love it!

by shmegs98 , Mar 12 '07
Pros: It got a great review in Consumer Reports. The price was perfect.
Cons: I don't have any bad things to say about this one!
I love this convertible seat!! I need something that will grow with my child. I was in the market for a car seat that reclines. I didn't like seeing my niece in her car seat when she fell asleep because her poor little head would flop forward. So I ...

Confusing straps
by turtlenthehare ,Jun 05 '07
Pros: fits in my Corolla with another convertible seat in the back, is inexpensive, and tilts.
Cons: Confusing straps and the front strap adjustment is hard to reach in bucket back seats.
When I first put my infant in this car seat I was dismayed at the straps. Although I could loosen the strap around her legs, the chest length stayed the same because of the double straps. Then I got online and heard others saying they had this issue too and that there was no way to fix it. So I called Evenflo. Not only were they friendly, they were quite helpful in teaching me how to use the straps.

Yes, the straps are confusing. But they DO adjust. You have to push the chest clip up until it is touching the car seat back, and then you can pull on that double strap to adjust the length. There is no reason to go around with improperly used straps on this car seat, just learn how to use them!

Great while they are smaller.
by tanyamb ,Mar 25 '07
Pros: Controls in the front, reclining position for smaller kids.
Cons: Too contoured for the older kids.
We purchased two of these for our twins when they outgrew their infant car seats. They were wonderful in the rear facing position while they were under a year, and also up to about 2 years. The controls in the front were a big help. However, since this seat is so contoured, as they boys got bigger, it was very uncomfortable for them. They looked very scrunched up. we ended up having to go with a more toddler looking carseat for the remaining 2 1/2 years until they were ready for booster seats.
