Pros: buttercream fantasies Cons: I once got a sweet headache
Places strictly devoted to the dessert experience are sadly underrepresented in San Francisco (yes, I know, Citizen Cake is a worthy mention - but it's a dessert cafe (meaning they serve salads and smashed sandwhiches in addition to dessert - it's...
Pros: The best desserts in the U.S. - top quality, huge selection in a beautiful setting. Cons: Very crowded on weekend nights and the wait staff tends to be inexperienced.
I've been going to Extraordinary Desserts for around fifteen years and have eaten there at least a hundred times. I've also been to Patisserie Payard in New York City, the Black Hound in New Jersey, Cocolat in Berkeley and many other celebrated ...
Pros: ambiance, decor, desserts, few other choices for dessert after movie/dinner/theater Cons: mean, unhelpful, rude employees; frequently long lines and crowds
Extraordinary Desserts has two locations, the original location on 5th in Hillcrest and a second location in downtown San Diego. The downtown location opened late summer 2004 on the corner of Union and Ash. Desserts, coffee and tea are available at ...
Pros: Beautiful looking desserts Cons: Taste left a lot do be desired! Hubby says I make better desserts.
I have heard from friends about how amazing this place is and how I, as a dessert junky, would absolutely love this place. I must say , however, that I wasn't all that impressed. Last night, I babysat for my friends and they brought me back this ...

Pros: Nice little place off the beaten path! Cons: As with anything in San Diego...parking!
Went to "ED" after a ball game 6/23/o7. Waiting line was imposing but went quickly. Service was prompt and the product was, oh, just so out of this world it should be against the law!

SUCKS SERVICE, definitely not coming back by delilahdjuanda ,May 23 '04
Pros: Definitely not coming back. Sorry.you're not the only one
Cons: I guess there's no good things I can say about this place.
I definitely not coming back to this horrible place. We arrived at 11.04 PM on Saturday night, and the manager started telling people to go home because the were closing in 56 minutes, and therefore no other service would be provided for us.
I tried to talk to the manager telling her we drove all the way from LA (11 people) just to go there, but she looked at me and started to yell that it was not her fault the the cafe was going to close in another 56 minutes.
Why is Extraordinary keep stating they close at midnight on Sat and Sun when the manager sending people home at 11 pm?
Extraordinary should not sending guests home when it was written close at midnight. very sucks.
Pros: All the desserts are delightful Cons: The service can be lacking and the wait can be a while on busy nights
I love trying all the desserts here. I've tried many of the desserts that they offer as well as the teas, and have never been disappointed. It's the perfect place for any occasion, whether with a group of friends or for a romantic evening. However, I've never been to the Little Italy location, since I hear that the original location is the best. This place, just like the desserts is absolutely beautiful.
