Fuji does it again!

by Russhoolio , Jul 04 '02
Pros: Great exposure control and contrast, good manual controls
Cons: no more NP-80 battery, docking cradle costs extra
I have been selling digital cameras for about 2.5 years and this is the one I like best. It has just about all the great features of Fuji's other great cameras (4700, 4800, 6800) plus just a few really nice improvements.

The best thing they...

An Under-rated Digicam

by lasaint888 , Jul 09 '02
Pros: Great all-aluminum construction, compact size, fantastic image quality and great body design.
Cons: $599 MSRP.
WOW! That was the first thing I said when I saw the Fuji F601 Zoom camera. Besides the all aluminum body construction, the camera is small and compact. Very sleek. The previous models, including this one is designed by Porsche. Pretty cool. After...

Best Pocket Digital in 2002

by mssn , Aug 19 '02
Pros: Size and Best resolution you can get today (8/02) for under $450.
Cons: Automatic white balance indoors and menu system.
Today the top resolution king of all digicams is the Fuji S2 which uses the same hexagonal super CCD. Its little brother F601 uses the same CCD technology and beats out top 4 MP cameras and matches the resolution of lesser 5MP such as Minolta 7. Look at...

My choice for a travel camera

by Ames100 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 17 '02
Pros: Small size, light weight, great photos, great video
Cons: Video out on docking station, lack of PAL, fast charger costs extra
I updated this review after returning from a long vacation trip where I used the Fuji F601z a lot. Overall, the performance of the camera was outstanding, and I was very happy with it. I upgraded my already-good rating in a few areas. Also, I've added ...

Great colour, take anywhere

by babka , Jan 07 '03
Pros: Colour quality, 640x480 video, small size, docking cradle
Cons: the usual small-camera cons: some red eye, just ok flash, smaller battery
I have owned a Finepix 6800 for a year. I sold it and "upgraded" to the F601 for a few reasons... its tighter, smaller body and its 640x480 (VGA) video with sound.

I've heavily researched every camera and tried out several, including Canon...

After owning two other Finepix 1400z and 2800z all I can say is Fuji is doing a great job! Not only have they blown me away with the price but the quality is outstanding. Did I mention its full manual! 3x optical zoom too, not just digital. Te only...

No Regrets on Buying this Camera

by excise , Mar 08 '03
Pros: Sturdy Housing, Very Versatile, Uses SmartMedia cards, Great Value!
Cons: Menus are small.
First, I'll assume if you are reading this review that you have become overwhelmed by the sheer choices of cameras out there. I'll also assume you have set aside a certain but limited amount of money to buy a digital camera. If you haven't already...

Great piece of technology for its price!

by sandtang , Apr 22 '03
Pros: Good Pix, Video with Audio, Output to TV, Web-cam, File copy
Cons: 5-hr recharge time, microphone pick-up not sensitive enough, no pouch
Please look to Fujifilm website for technical specs.

Ergonomics
Nice metallic body makes it look expensive and cool. Nice to hold but requires 2 hands to navigate about. About the size of a normal camera, so it'll fit in your pant pocket...

Love this camera!

by imalanman , May 23 '06
Pros: Excellent picture.Versatile. Able to make short movies(*.avi)with sound.
Cons: Multi-function switch could be a little bigger.
Upgraded from a cheap 640x480 digitil camera and was amazed and the wonderful pictures and video this little package produced! Smartmedia so nice to work with (gotta get a card reader for even easier uploads of pics to PC). Very satisfied with this...

Cons: Some red eye

Excellent All Around Camera

by bwhn , Dec 30 '03
Pros: Picture Quality, Ease of Use, Solid Build Quality
Cons: Battery life could be better, USB2.0 would be nice

Great Point and Shoot Cam for a More Advanced User

by clees , Aug 29 '06
Pros: Fully manual controls, two screens, great picture quality, ease of use
Cons: Battery life, flash
I bought the Fuji F601 after my first Fuji died. I've had the camera for about a year and a half now and I don't regret my purchase at all. The F601's biggest advantage are the manual controls. Most point and shoot cameras offer manual "features", ...

Very nice, but disappointing low light pictures

by kaprocki , Nov 09 '03
Pros: Small, convenient, easy to operate, good movies, good pictures in bright light.
Cons: Poor quality pictures in low lighting, zoom button too small and difficult to operate.
Overall the Fuji F601 is a very nice 3MP digital camera but has one major drawback: in auto mode you need to be outdoors with a lot of light to get sharp pictures. First the positives. The camera is very nice functionally with a few exceptions. The di ...

by morris_dt3000 ,Mar 26 '03
This is the best camera i've had so far, its the third one, i went from an hp, to a kodak, both 3.2 megapixels, but they never compare to this one, the video especially is 100 times better, more clear than the kodak, its nicer, smaller, very good product.

I have had mine for 4 months and love it! Great image quality! The camera has so many options it is hard to decide which mode to use. The MPG video image is small but useable and it's fun to play with. I purchased a 128MB card so I can take 100's of high quality images. I haven't used my old 35mm SLR since I bough the Fuji.

by barneyd_dt3000 ,Mar 24 '03
I've had a couple of film cameras and since going digital with the 601, haven't looked back. It has a great level of manual control and with a bit of practice, you can get superb looking pictures and of course being digital you can always have another go if you're not quite right. For general shots, the automatic modes work fine. It's compact size means it really can go with you anywhere. I find the "joystick" fine to use despite having quite big hands. If anything, the screen could be bigger but you can still see if you've got a duff shot. A direct video out (without the cradle) would be good but I guess you have to give something up to get it this small.

Hands down at this price...
by gizzardinside_dt3000 ,Jul 12 '02
Hands down at this price this is the camera with the fastest picture taking times. A key criteria I personally had was to find a camera that takes a picture quickly after pressing the button. So many digital cameras have an enourmous delay. This was the quickest by far for under $800. The menu system is robust and clean, and the camera supports point and shoot (everything auto) operation or you can take as much control as you want over shutter speed, F stop, and focus. The shape is non-standard, but compact and easy to become accustom to. I was also impressed with Fuji's pixel technology. My prints of pictures taken in 6MP mode really look like 6MP pics.

I've had my Fugi for over a year now and am so disappointed with the pictures. I wanted to make product flyers for my work but the pictures are so dark and grainy. Shining other lights only makes the picture come up with a strong glare.

by howard_dt3001 ,Jan 27 '03
I purchased the Fuji F601 on December 28th,2002 from Future Shop. I found the camera easy to use and the photo quality was good. On January 26th I was no longer able to use the flash and the menue control went on the fritz. I took the camera back to Future Shop and they were more than happy to replace it with another Fuji 601 camera. Future Shop has advised me that if I am still having problems with the Fuji 601 they would replace it with another product. I'll let you know later if this was a fluke.

by artrav_dt3000 ,Sep 17 '02
I purchased this camera 5 months ago. It worked 3 weeks and had to have the mother board replaced. The "flip out prongs" on the recharger, as I was flipping it out to recharge the camera, one broke. I sent it in for repair. The company would not honor the warranty. The prongs are held on by a strip of metal 1mm x 2mm. The very shoddy engineering of this item and the fact that you have to buy a replacement at 60.00 per unit is enough for me to never by Fuji products. This coupled with the fact I purchased the replacement and it won't ship for a week. I CANNOT recommend this product to anyone under any circumstances. I would not recommend this product or any other product produced by Fuji.
