Pros: Great tasting food, easy to use, just set and forget! Cons: Cook times and temperatures inaccurate.
Last year my brother in law bought his mother a rotisserie. At first I thought, what a waste when you can cook a chicken in the oven. I figured it was just another gadget, another toy to take up counter space. Boy was I wrong. The rotisserie makes...
Pros: Enormous capacity! Great for large families. Cons: Cooking times need to be adjusted.
I was fortunate enough to be able to do a side by side comparison of the Big George Rotisserie and the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie. At first I had my heart set on getting the Ronco. I'd seen the commercial for the Showtime and was convinced it would be...
Pros: Big, heavy duty, high-quality, adjustable heat, cooks evenly, easy to set up Cons: Big, heavy, small basket, no obvious way to cook spare ribs
For whatever reason, I've been on a small appliance binge lately. My most recent purchase is the George Foreman Big George Rotisserie GR80A from Salton. Like everyone else in America, I'd seen the Ron Popeil Showtime, and, like almost everyone else in...
Pros: Large interior, Easy to load Cons: Extra cook time is generally needed
I purchased the Big George Rotisserie because it was the largest indoor home rotisserie oven I could find. So far, I have used it three times. Once for a 5lb whole chicken, once for steaks, and once for beef kabobs.
Pros: This product makes great tasting food which can be lower in fat. Cons: It's a big, bulky machine that takes a lot of room.
We purchased this product after we had fell in love with George Foreman's grill. After we opened the box, we were a little disappointed at the size - it measures 21 inches long and 16 inches wide. We made a permanent spot for it on our counter. It...
Pros: Costs less than Ronco, comes with better warranty Cons: Hard to clean, cook times longer
George Foreman Rotisserie – Ronco flavor – But more cooking time
How did I select this item?
I’ll have to tell you, my hubby surprised me with this after I unceremoniously dumped the Ronco Showtime at the curb for...
Pros: Tender, tasty, juicy chicken Cons: Needs a more extensive cooking chart in the Owner's Manual
Pushing the envelope of this wonderful rotisserie, I selected two four-and-a-half pound whole chickens as my initial experience with the Big George Rotisserie. For the final fifteen minutes of our three-hour cook time we chose to add the top heating...
Pros: So versatile in what you can cook and no worries about what's the weather outside. Cons: I never had any cons it worked so great and without any hassles or worries.
I had one till it was ruined during a move so I am getting a new one. They are great and I do mean great. The food is juicy and cooks evenly. I loved using mine and used it often. They are very handy to have. You don't have to go outside to cook on the ...
Pros: Easy to assemble, use and clean Cons: Watch the time you cook your food
I bought this off an auction on Ebay new in the box. It was a good purchase.
The product was really easy to assemble. In about 3 minutes, it was out of the box and ready to use. The rotisserie rack slid into the case really easy and the...
Pros: Simply the best cooking investment you'll ever make. Cons: None that I can think of offhand
MMm.....I am a chef by nature, and the George Foreman Rotisserie makes my job a whole lot easier.
I am absolutely loving the rotating skewer with easy assembly, and the pretty little window so I can watch my meat go around and around and...
Pros: Excellent kitchen gadget. replaced 70% of my stove and oven usage. Cons: Watch your cooking times.
Update 12/30/02. There were some things I left out in my review.
1> Ease of cleaning > It is very easy to clean. The front lid comes off and you need only warm up the interior for a minute at the lowest setting and the interior wipes clean...
Pros: Well built, great controls, powerful. Cons: Heavy and big. Difficult to use skewer assembly.
After getting more than 15 years of use out of two Farberware rotisseries, we stepped up to the enclosed Big George. Although it is quite bulky and heavy,it appeared to be a very well built unit. Controls are great and easy to use. Since this units...
The advertising and enclosed video shows succulent meat, poultry, etc., dripping juices, glistening meat, rotating and glowing under steady heat to an eye perfection golden brown. It ain't so. My first attempt at roasting a 4# whole chicken to their...
Pros: Heavy Construction, good quality accessories. Cons: Inaccurate Cooking times.
A couple of months ago, I was convinced that I just had to have the Showtime Rotisserie Oven. After reading the reviews posted, I chose the Forman GR 80. When it arrived, I promptly placed it on the patio, next to my Nesco Roaster. I live in the Phoenix...
Pros: easy clean up, great meats Cons: REALLY BIG- takes up counter space
After shopping around for a rotisserie for a good while now, we finally decided to buy the Big George. Turns out that we're very satisfied with this purchase. One of the reasons we decided to go with the Big George is that there were more than 2 heat...
Pros: heavy duty /Large for big food / cooks perfectly and food is oh so tasty Cons: none
This rotisserie is in my opinion well made. I found it easy to use and I like the way you can put a plate under it lift and twist and out comes the food without any danger of getting burned. We are good cooks in this house and have many kitchen gadgets...
Pros: It is very well built and easy to clean. Cons: cooking times are way off
The main probably that we have is we do not know how long to cook anything. We have had to add up to an hour on a couple of things we cooked in it such as a roast and chicken. But after a few more tries we finally know how long to cook most things. Both...
Pros: Versatile, quiet, good performer, exterior remains cool, easy to clean. Cons: Recipe cooking times are incorrect if unit is used as directed by instructions.
I purchased a Big George rotisserie after reading several user reviews. I confirmed the most frequent complaint -- that the cooking times given in the recipes result in undercooked food.
I believe that this is the result of the left hand of the...
I did read a few of the opinions about this product before I unpacked the box. I should have taken it back to the store right then. I used the rotisserie 3 times. Once for the "guiltless fries". They never did cook. The chicken was the...
Pros: Attractive, Easy to use, low fat cooking. Cons: Long cooking times.
I received the Big George for my birthday. I was skeptical at all the juicy pictures and functions the machine stated it would do. I watched the included video and was inspired to try the rosemary chicken recipe that came with the recipe booklet...
Pros: Great Chicken, Whisper Quiet Cons: None yet!
I received this rotisserie for Christmas this year, and I LOVE it! I won't say that I don't know how I lived without it, but I WILL say that I'll never cook Chicken in the oven again. So far I've done chicken and pork chops in it, and both were great successes. Both the rotisserie and the little basket thing-y are easy to load. You just put it in, set the timer and forget about it. And really... you can! There's a 'ding' when the time is up, that's loud enough that you can hear it even if you aren't in the kitchen.
My mother-in-law has the Ronco, so here's my brief comparison, based on my observations and things she's mentioned.
First, the Ronco is LOUD. Distractingly loud, as I recall. I wouldn't want to have it on if I had guests over. The Big George is much quieter.
Second, my mother-in-law complains that sometimes the meat will come off balance and kinda flop around in there. The Big George has 3 spikes that go through your meat, so it seems very secure.
Finally, the George Foreman rotisserie is cheaper. How can you resist that??
Pros: advertised - roast a whole chicken NOT! Cons: it was not too difficult to clean.
this model was supposed to do a whole chicken....but while it rotated, it hit the rear calrod heaters. a pork roast weighing 3 pounds was too heavy to turn.........repeatedly clicked - would not make a full turn.
i would not buy a FORMAN of any kind because of that.
