Pros: Compact, good feature set, changeable batteries. Cons: Average battery life, questionable waterproofness, signal dropouts.
A reasonably compact unit, I have no problem wearing it on my wrist whilst out running. Great when MTB-ing. Easy to use, storage of your track information & waypoints is useful. Basic plot of your track on-screen great to backtrack or get your ...

Very nice GPS!
by newfiedvdr ,Jun 03 '07
Pros: Sensitive and very useful for walkers etc. Cons: None
I use this as a glorifed pedometer. It tells me the exact distance I walked. Plus it can tell you a whole lot more..ETA,elaped time, current speed, average speed, sunrise, sundown, best hunting/fishing times, altitude, bearing, compass plus even a whole lot more! Plus you can choose what to display on each page. Very handy. It uses rechargable NMH cells along with alkalines. (just be sure to set the unit correctly for the type of battery) It always picks up satellites, even indoors in a lot of cases. It even works in a car. I strap it on my rearview mirror and when i arrive home I download the info on the Garmin Mapsource software (sold separately) on my home Pc and can track exactly where i drove to, the speed, distance and all of it plotted on a map. It can also receive uploads (waypoints, routes etc) from the Mapsource software. Be aware that you have to push the computer plug into the unit hard and back it off a bit to get the unit to communicate with the PC.

Awesome
by enewmen ,May 11 '07
Pros: Uses 2 normal AAA batteries, works, cheap Cons: Bulky for a watch, no maps
Well, not perfect, but by far the best small GPS.
The wrist strap is small and bulky. Just replace it with a normal sports watch strap.
Uses 2 normal AAA batteries - even the high capacity NiMH (important if you need more battery power and no-place near a charger or factory service!). No external device required. It works. You CAN connect to a PC/Mac via Serial/USB and get your position on mapping software, COOL.
Bulky for a watch, but still the smallest GPS with normal batteries you can find. No maps, but the small device has a small screen and you get to where you need to go anyway.

Garmin makes a great new product!
by gnew9 ,Jun 27 '06
Pros: Usual Garmin GPS understandability Cons: Still a little large on a wrist and price high
Hey,
This little inexpensive GPS is great. It picked up satellites even in NYC and that's not easy. Waypoints are easy to add. I think folks familiar with Garmin and the terms they use to control their GPS's will be happy to know they did not re-invent the wheel. The "Page" button still moves you from screen to screen. The "Enter" button still brings up sub-menus that are very easy to understand. I like this unit because it will work with my exercise routine by acting as a pedometer AND I can stick it on my Daughter's car (16 year-old) It's water resistant and see how fast she is driving when I am not there. It also has a feature to come on and off at intervals. This last feature was the ONLY thing for which I needed to open the book.

Excellent low-cost compact unit, perfect for yacht racing
by jnavas ,May 12 '05
Pros: Size. Weight. Wrist-mounting. Quality. Price. Display. Replaceable-batteries. Sensitivity. Accuracy. Usability. User-interface. Battery-life. Cons: Lack of mapping. Water sealing could be better. Serial cable costs extra.
Compact, versatile, and highly-usable GPS at a very affordable price. Wrist mounting leaves your hands free for activities. Sufficiently waterproof to be used in bad weather and in many water sports (e.g., boating). Excellent display with backlighting. Quality construction. Satellite acquisition is fast. Receiver is remarkably sensitive and accurate. Configurable screens. Countdown timer great for yacht racing starts. Can use disposable alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries, and ability to switch batteries in the field is an advantage over the similar Foretrex 201. Optional serial cable available for connection to computers and other devices. Highly recommended. My mapping GPS (Magellan SporTrak Color) is now relegated to a backup/support role.
