Pros: Technology really can make life easier Cons: Dick Cheney knows where you're going
When I got the Garmin nuvi 200W, it was a revelation. I didn't have a GPS installed in the dash of my car, but my husband did. The GPS in my husband's car doesn't even have a touch screen so you have to scroll through the alphabet with a dial ...
Pros: Simple to use. Additional features are helpful and fun. Cost is decent. We are pleased. Cons: Wish it had more voices - such as Sean Connery's.
I had no interest. Zip.Nada.But Garmin's catchy Christmas jingle caught my attention -especially the one with the moose. (I like "mooses".) Plus darling hubby was pining for one -- (not a moose, a GPS). And we had a family reunion in ...
Pros: Great screen, very user friendly, can change characters, TONS of POIs Cons: Sometimes you need to just use the map instead of the on-screen directions
The Garmin Nuvi 200 series; simple, cost efficient, helpful if you're completely lost... What can I say, I paid around $250 for this little guy and I got what I paid for, and that's not necessarily a bad thing in this case. Sure it's not the most ...
Pros: User friendly interface, accurate directions, durable, reliable, good battery life. Cons: Can be dangerous to use while driving.
I purchased the Garmin 200W for use while doing my job as a police officer. Prior to this, I had been using a much bulkier Street Pilot ColorMap for the past 8 years before it finally died. I was immediately impressed with the 200W when I took it out ...
This is the first GPS I’ve had so I can’t compare it to another manufacturer or model. In a nutshell, the Garmin nüvi 200W is a simple to use GPS with a big, clear display. The menus and buttons were intuitive. At no point have I needed to reference the ...
Pros: small, efficient design. Everything you need in a GPS. Cons: the voice doesn't read the street names (but available in higher end models)
This is my first GPS. I have known relatives and friends with GPS devices, from the original mount-on-dash type to the newest voice activated, custom installed units. I finally decided to join them, and get my own GPS navigation unit in early January, ...
Pros: quality gps, very good signal pickup, customizable, inexpensive Cons: none really.
I got this GPS at a very interesting time in my life. I was traveling 2000 miles across the country when I ran into a snowstorm in upstate NY. While in lodging for a few days I shopped around for a GPS. I was far away from home, and being less than a ...
Pros: Easy to use, Quick Start, Big Screen Cons: I have yet to find any
I was always talking about going and getting a GPS System but I could never actually put out the money and pay for one of those fancy digital maps. I was hoping to be able to wait till I gone out of state or something, but I started up a new class which ...
Pros: bright screen, fast fixes, loud clear voice, 6 mill points of interest, intuitive to use Cons: irritating auto zoom, lack of map detail, no distance to next exit, no scale
Positives: huge 4.3 inch screen, superbright, easy to read in direct Alabama summer sunlight while wearing sunglasses, very pleasing night color scheme, fast initial fix (except one mysterious evening when I was leaving the Atlanta airport to get on I-85 ...
Pros: portable, inexpensive, easy to use, saves ink & paper Cons: maps not always accurate
The GPS is a great device to have, especially if you are a frequent traveler. We are a military family, and we travel quite a bit. Our first time using the GPS was on a trip to South Carolina. The GPS was easy to program, and like any electronic ...
Pros: Runs without power cable, bright screen, lots of POIs and voice directions Cons: On screen indicator not always distinguishable, not good when avoid highway
We've been hesitant to get a GPS because we don't go out of town frequently and we already know the roads in our neighborhood..then came Christmas and the Garmin nuvi 200w came to us as a gift. The GPS was easy to setup right out of the box, just ...
Pros: Easy to use. Nice size. Cons: No Canada maps, Satellite connection slow.
I found this unit very easy to use right out of the box. My son has become quite the handy co-pilot by entering in an address for me without any directions on how to do it. (He likes the feature of changing the arrow to a car or a monster truck) I have ...
Pros: Price and functionality . No connection to computer required to download maps Cons: Navigation screen don't give you distance to destination. You have to change screens.
I don't think there is a better unit for that price. It gives you what you need related to directions. I wish the navigation screen could show the distance to destination and the distance to the next turn. Instead it gives you time to destination (what ...
Pros: Many happy journeys with ease just by putting in an address. Cons: Wished I had found this when we started RVing.
Fantastic! We are Rvers and travel all over the country. This device has saved our marriage. I was in charge of getting us from point a to b and I hate reading maps. When you have an RV you can't turn around when you make a mistake in the directions as ...
Pros: none Cons: Does not include Canada. You have to buy a $75 memory card to get Canada.
I was torn between buying a Tom Tom that is of similar capabilities and price as the Nuvi 200W. I know that Garmin is probably the leader of this new market of portable GPS units because they have been a long time standard in the marine industry. The ...
Pros: easy to use, great touchscreen Cons: doesn't work, wouldn't use it to navigate from the kitchen to my living room...
I was very excited when I got the Garmin nüvi 200. Finally, my own GPS! No more paper print outs from map quest! I will have my own personal assistant to guide me on my journeys throughout this great land! Boy was I wrong! The setup and install are ...
Pros: Simple to use, very accurate. Cons: None found so far!!
I bought this device on sale for $138 at Cabellas (yes, a sale at Cabellas!). I have a friend at the office who has owned GPS navigation devices since they first came out and he highly recommended the Garmin brand. He was absolutely correct! I travel ...
Pros: price, large screen, user friendly Cons: no USB cord, but not really necessary, ability to speak street names
After receiving the Garmin nuvi 200W as a present, I was somewhat reluctant. I never had used a GPS before so I did not know what to expect. When I opened the box, it came with a windshield mount, basic instructions, & a vehicle charging cable, basically ...
Pros: Voice guided, swivel suction cradle, and nice screen colors. Cons: No standard charger comes in kit, only the car charger is included.
At first I was going to get a TomTom because they were on sale but changed my mind at the last minute when I was told that Garmin was the market leader. I am glad that I did. When I got home with it, I charged it a little and then turned it on to play ...
Pros: Clear to read and voice loud enough to hear. Cons: Doesn't name streets or have real time traffic report.
I purchased the Garmin 200w nuvi after I had bought one for my husband about two months ago, his was not the larger screen though. I have had mine for just about one month now and I am pleased with it so far. I wanted one with a larger screen and for ...
Pros: Up to date maps, voice directions, preloaded business addresses with more downloads available. Cons: None that we've found so far.
This is our first GPS system and we used it for a trip from Northeastern PA to Sandusky, OH. We nicnamed it "Lola" same as Robin Williams in the RV movie. One thing I love about this system is that she actually tells you what lane to be in when ...
So easy - no manual required by dietermg ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: Extremely easy to use. Small, fits in pocket when walking. Cons: Satellite acquisition somewhat slow.
I travel frequently to Europe where 2000 years of road building planning - or more precisely the absence thereof - make a navigation system a must. As not all rental cars come with a navigation system, my wife bought me the Nuvi 200w which can be used in the US and Europe. I am impressed by the ease of use and can recommend this gps navigator to anyone who doesn't like to read long user manuals. Without any manual you are ready to go in a few minutes.
I can't find any games that run on the Nuvi 2002 but maybe they exist. This is not essential but a nice feature when waiting in airports...
Pros: Easy to use touch screen, Simple menus, voice directions, stores and views photos. Cons: the screen may be a bit small and no traffic alerts
I travel frequently for work and GPS has made my life easier. I know there are several to pick from and all have most have many good feature that often come with a higher price tag. The 200 series seems to be the lower cost model and runs a little over $200. The easy to use touch screen is very responsive and and easy to read. One of the great features that I have found very useful is the fact that you can take it out of the car a switch to pedestrian mode. This helped me find way when walking around in unfamiliar cities. It also verbally gives directions and says street names which provides for less distractions. It also has an SD slot for additional storage to store photos. Overall it's a solid purchase and I am happy with it.
Pros: Set up was easy. Cons: Product doesn't work for its purpose.
Bought this product yesterday. Set up was easy. Used it this morning to my office to check accuracy. It wasn't. It would have taken me in the opposite direction at least 7 miles out of the way on what was a simple drive consisting of only four turns. On arriving at the office I made an effort to download the update software on a very new computer. Guess what? It wouldn't download properly. This goes back to the store today. I will try a competitor's brand even though their equivalent is more expensive. Maybe it will work.
Pros: Average functionality for one year. Cons: Reduced user-friendlyness after 12 months of use.
Average GPS. After using it for 12 months a "MAP UPDATE ALERT" screen comes up EACH time the unit is turned on. This annoying screen stays on until the user physically acknowledges the message. It appears that the only way to remove this feature from the unit is to purchase an update from Garmin. It's too bad Garmin isn't ethical enough to tell prospective customers about this feature BEFORE purchasing this product.
Pros: SIZE, COLOR AND ACCURACY OF THE MAP AND I LIKE THE TOUCH SCREEN CAPABILITY. Cons: JUST DONT LIKE THE HARD TO SEE AND USE POWER BUTTON.
GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS. TRIED IT OUT AND FOUND IT TO BE REAL GOOD. HAD IT TAKE ME TO COSTCO AND IT DID A LITTLE INDIRECTLY BECAUSE IT STAYED ON (VERY MAIN STREAM) ROADS. I DONT CARE FOR
THE ODD SLIDER TYPE POWER BUTTON THAT LOCKS THE SCREEN IF
YOU MOVE IT TO THE RIGHT. THE ACCURACY WAS WITHIN A BLOCK OF
TAKING ME TO SAFEWAY GROCERY STORE BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE BLIND NOT TO SEE THE STORE FROM THAT DISTANCE.
ITS NOT PERFECT BUT ITS VERY GOOD.
Garmin nuvi 200 GPS -JUNK!!!!!!!! by seymour6789 ,Apr 01 '09
Pros: When it actually worked it was a dream. Cons: 3 month life expectancy. Worse than zero customer service support.
Complete piece of junk. Bought it in Dec. It died in March. Walmart said my in store warranty was useless until AFTER the year long manufacturer warranty expired. Garmin couldn't careless. Have sent them two faxes which they claim got lost, never answered my email, waited 30 minutes on hold just talk to useless CS rep. who told me to him AGAIN at my expense and then if by some miracle they responded, I would have to mail it in at my expense. BY A COMPASS. Also had a nasty tendency to crap out in overcast. Often gave contradictory directions in the space of about two seconds.
Good Navigation and clear display by humblejohn438 ,Dec 11 '09
Pros: Good display and sound. Solid mount. Cons: Unit has problems. It should be returned to the company for a replacement.
I got this for my wife for her birthday. At first she refused to use it but eventually she got to like the convenience of using a GPS and now she uses this model whenever she goes out. She especially likes it because the display is clear and colorful and the sound is good. ( I bought it for her because we moved into a new house and she was unfamiliar with the area). One of the features that she finds useful is the dashboard mounting platform. It is secure. Her friend has a GPS with a suction and it continually falls off the windshield.
