Pros: Great printing for a multifunction. Card reader. Photocopying. Photo software Cons: Pricey, stiff paper tray and huge scanned file sizes
As a power user and one who does lots of work from home, my home "work"station was getting crowded. I have a so-so quality inkjet printer and a nice but cumbersome 36 bit scanner. Serious FAXing and photocopying would have to wait until I returned to...
Pros: A MACHINE YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE WITH Cons: LIKES TO USE INK
I've had Canons, Lexmarks, Xeroxes, Panasonics, and Toshibas. This HP saves me 50% of the time it would take to use any other machine. The automatic document feeder is FAULTLESS, and this alone is a total relief, as other feeders I've used always...
Pros: Replaced 3 machines. Good print quality. Great Scanner. ADF included Cons: Pricey ink. Slow duplex unit. Usual HP print driver problems. Small glitches.
UPDATE 3/25/2003
No significant problems with HP drivers in months so I am upping it to 5 stars. The only real problems I have are; the duplex unit is slow to start the second page and the paper handling can cause problems occasionally.
UPDATE...
Pros: Print quality, multi-functional. Cons: Goes through ink quickly, tough to trouble shoot.
Most functions work really well, but it can be incredibly difficult to troubleshoot. Right now I cannot get mine to receive a FAX to save my life. I have had this printer for about a year and a half. It has held up very well. I mainly use it to print ...
Pros: duplex paper handling, all-in-one functionality Cons: bad reliability
Let me start by saying that I am usually a big fan of HP products and that up until my experience with this printer 100% of my printers at work and at home have been HP. My woes with this product began about a year ago when I purchased a new model at ...
Pros: Very effective, great special copy features, beautiful prints. Cons: Card reader does not work for all digital media; software takes lots of memory.
I spent many hours researching my multifunction printer purchase, and relied heavily on epinions reviews. I chose the HP d145 for its breadth of function and substance; many of the less expensive models seemed too "flimsy." I am not one to change ...
Pros: None Cons: Two different failures on two different units. HP Support limited to predefined situations.
My HP Officejet D145 performed well for the first few months, although I was not impressed with how plastic and cheap everything was especially the paper tray which is very stiff. All of a sudden, it started having carriage problems; the carriage would g ...
Pros: WOW!!! This does everything and WELL. I freed up about 3 sq.ft. of counter space. Cons: None so far. Those that complain of noise are really nit picking.
I'm an IT professional with a home office here in Sun City West, AZ. Bought the HP D145 at Costco for $549.00. This replaced a HP 960, A LARGE Toshiba fax and an HP 4P Scanjet.
Frankly I'll take the single machine any day of the week. The...
Pros: good output quality Cons: Worked 5 minutes then after 4 months of no working printer HP gave partial refund
After spending just over $450 the printer's scanner did not work from the moment I powered it on for the first time. I had a next day exchange supplementary warranty. HP immediately sent a refurbished one. This refurbished replacement was damaged and...
Pros: Fast printing, great photos, good utilities, easy installation Cons: B & W text could be better, slow duplex unit, pricey ink cartridges
I love this printer. It's fast, it's easy to use, and it has all of the utilities you could ask for in a multifunction unit. The color is excellent, and the scanning is great. Although, the B&W text could be just a hair better, and the ink cartridges are...
Pros: Good print from pictures and documents on your computer Cons: Bad scanning capability
I purchased the HP D145 after reading several reviews. The machine worked great until I tried to scan and print a professional photograph. The photo had a white background, which the D145 turned pink. I was unable to edit the photo enough to print a...
Pros: Good document feeder. Cons: Slow double sided function, random unfixable errors.
We bought this printer after the HP 1170c we had died. (It only lasted about three years.) We bought this one because it had some neat features we liked that were missing on the 1170c. We liked the document feeder, the ability to do double sided ...
Pros: Excellent print quality, faxing and scanning. Cons: Pricey.
I purchased this machine to replace my t45xi (see review) which has been relegated to backup duty at the store (mostly faxing). So far it has been flawless. I was careful to follow the installation instructions, since I have heard from others that if...
Pros: Fantastic photo printing when using premium glossy paper. Reliable machine. Cons: A little shaky due to lamp heads warming up. Ink used up quickly.
I needed a printer, scanner, fax, and copy machine. So I got it all in one unit. Lets talk about the features of this product.
- Printer -
Pros- Great quality, color is 2400 x 1200 on the max. Which gives great photo quality on...
Pros: Excellent features and physical layout. Cons: Software has strange quirks and it died after 60 days. Not happy!
I bought this unit, the 250 sheet tray and a 3 year warranty which promised next day replacement if the unit failed. On the positive side, I was highly impressed with this all-in-one, the features and physical layout are excellent and it works well with...
Pros: Good for scanning to Acrobat. Cons: Software. Cheap build quality.
Overview
I purchased the d145 in late December. I was in the process of starting a new business and I planned to use this for 3 things: 1) Sending faxes (I use Jfax to receive) 2) Copying 3) Scanning to PDF. I have not really used it...
Pros: All in one. Fax,Copy, Printer. What else is there to say Cons: NONE
This product saved me a lot of money. I had a printer that came with my computer, but under the circumstances it did not print very well. I was going to get a fax machine so that I can work at home and be able to communicate with clients. Now that I have...
HP D145 is not compatible with Mac OSX by markeno ,May 11 '04
Pros: Works with WindowsXP Cons: Does not and has not worked with Mac OSX 10.3.3 (Panther)
Do not buy this printer if you are running OSX! Ever since I bought an iBook to use with this printer it has been nothing but problems. First off I did the "Switch" from XP to Mac making sure that this printer was compatible with my new iBook. I could not print for 2 months since there was no printer driver for it. When HP finally created a driver it was lame. Print speed was dismally slower than XP, I'd say 10x slower and all of the communication stuff like faxing was messed up. Well it's now 2 years later and this otherwise fine piece of hardware has gimp'd along sporadically. I even tried using Gimp print drivers to make it work but it only infuriated me more thinking that I shelled out $500 bucks for a royal pain in the butt. Basically HP lied in saying that this was "compatible" with OSX. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU HAVE A MACINTOSH.
Pros: convenient all-in-one Cons: Quality problem with photo printing, as described above.
Test page problem.
Expensive printer cartridges.
Hi,
did anyone experience Test Page and photo quality problem with HP d145 printer?
Bought my d145 printer about a couple of years ago, and it has 2 problems that HP Technical support could not resolve. The problems are:
1. Test Page streak across the Black test-band
There is a white streak across the Black test band that I could not get rid of. This is reproduced by doing: Print Report -> Print Test Page. The a couple of pages would print. The 2nd page shows 3 color bands, and a black band. In about the middle of the black band, there is white streak across it. Did someone see the same problem?
2. Photos show grainy images:
I printed lots of photos, using Best resolution. If I look closely at each photo, the grains appear very pronounced, instead of smooth image. I tried HP glossy photo paper, then Epson, then Kodak ... all the photos show grainy (pixels don't blend smoothly). Apparently when I used this printer as new, it was not like this. I cleaned the printer heads many times, etc. but did not solve the problem. I am using WindowsXP, and driver XP version.
Pros: Advertised features Cons: Scanning and copying via the document feeder are unreliable!
Very poor reliability and quality particularly the scanner/copier part.
The ink cartridge setup is designed SPECIFICALLY to be expensive and also non-refillable. The printer heads which are separate from the cartridges (there are four of them) fail at regular intervals and they are $35 each and only available direct from HP! I have had 2 of these fail so far. Also the power supply has failed, as has one of the document feeders.
Even now, I can't feed any more than a couple of pages with any reliability. It's useless for copying a document of more than about 5 pages because of missed pages and blank pages.
This printer has made sure that I will never buy another HP Printer again.
Pros: Well, the SAID it did everything. Cons: Scanner never worked, and then couldn't fax or copy.
Same problem as the negative reviewer - "scanner failure" - problems with software, bad support. Scanner has never worked well, and has never gone more than a month or so without failing. Now I'm out of warranty, so I consider money spent purchasing this item to be a total waste.
Not recommended, is a big headache by cosijo ,Jun 02 '05
Pros: nice looking Cons: unreliable, expensive
3 months after purchased this unit, feeder started to fail, send for repair to HP, manufacture sent a newone, did not work, manufacture sent a second machine that had the same problem as the first one plus incoming fax did not work properly, 7 times had to be returned, after one and half year of replacements, I decided to buy a new one. HP is not reliable at all.
Pros: All-in-one makes for small space consumption on the desk. Cons: Looks, construction, inking system, poor Apple driver, screwed-up paper transport, price.
I can now say, after 1.5 years of very little use, this product is not robust. Sure, when I researched the reviews back then things were positive. HP products, in general, do not last long. I have proof both at work and at home with several different models of laser and ink jet units stacked in the corner waiting to be pitched. I will say that the laser products of the past were much more robust.
My specific problems with this machine are poor paper handling, lousy construction of the paper tray itself, and severe inking system problems if the printer has not been used for even a month. Why blow $50 on both black and color carts because you haven't gotten around to printing those pictures of yours? That's basically what you need to do because it will take all the ink in your existing carts to clean-out the passages! Even after 10 or so cleaning sessions, my printer still is not capable of producing a decent photo. In fact, forget I even mentioned photos because this unit is not suitable AT ALL!
Pros: Excellent photo printing. Second paper tray is wonderfully convenient. Cons: Has some trouble with poster weight paper. Ink is highly water soluble.
Highly recommended. It does everything well. If you are getting a d145, you should get the second paper tray which holds more paper and makes it easy (automatic with Word) to print envelopes without having to change paper.
If you are in the market for a inkjet multifunction, nothing comes close. From unattended document scanning to photo downloads this machine serves all purposes a small business could need from a single unit. Although some may consider it larger than most all-in-ones, to the best of my knowledge this in the only legal size unit on the market.
