I love this unit! For the price, you simply can't beat it.

I'd like to answer the first reviewer who questioned the efficiency of the technology. Anyone who has taken college microbiology knows that UV light in a specific spectrum (ie "UVGI" or germicidal bulbs) will kill bacteria as well as dust mites and some viruses, if the microbes cross the uv field.

Up to this point, most units were passive lights mounted high up on the wall - so they had limited effectiveness. This new technology, pairing HEPA filtration with a uvgi light(with a fan to draw in air thru the unit) is highly effective.

For those who need more proof, the Penn State study by Dr. J. W. Kowalski reported influenza a virus kill rates at 74% with this technology. Given that 2006 is predicted to be the worst flu season in decades - who would not get this unit?

In quiet mode its too nousy for sleeping (unless you like white  noise) db meter at 35db, we shut it off or move it out in the hallway and close our door.
