Pros: fun realistic doll; eats/drinks; goes potty; says phrases; eyes move; Cons: Price! Doll can be messy - but worth it!!
I'm a child of the 70's (shhh, don't tell). I had the first Baby Alive Doll manufactured in 1973, the very one that was recalled too. Unfortunately my mom didn't keep her. I think she threw her in a yard sale box shortly after the recall, but what a ...
Pros: Children get to be a mommy to a realistic baby. My child loves her baby! Cons: Pricey, color of lips fade, loud motor, and leaky diapers.
Got this doll for 49.99 at Walmart for my 5-year-old daughter. I also bought all the accessories this doll has. She loves it. She had recieved alot of new 2006 great toys but this one she adores the most. She personally loves when you give her the ...
Pros: Child gets to mix and fed baby food like a real baby Cons: expensive, loosing hair, doesn't work more than 1/2 the time. NOT DURABLE!
I purchased the baby alive for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas this year (2006). The doll was from Santa Claus and appeared to be really cool, durable and advanced in technology. I thought this was a perfect gift since my daughter wants a sibling ...
Pros: Much better than the one I had in the 70's. Cons: Buying the food over and over can be very expensive.
The new Baby Alive dolls are much better than the one I had as a child back in the 70's. They are a little more realistic with the mouth movement than they were back then. They are great for kids who love dolls. It is realistic enough ...
Baby Alive.... Not sure about this toy :-( by iloveyoumore ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: Your child will probably love it...mine does Cons: Expensive/Colour of the lips rub off/Hair falls out/Diapers leak...should I keep going?
I bought this doll for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas 2006. For the amount I spent on this doll ($49.99 Canadian) I am somewhat disappointed. The doll had pink lips when she first came out of the box, now the colour has rubbed off. The eyelashes have fallen off, and her hair is very thin. Her hair hasn't started falling out...yet. I imagine she will be completely bald within 6 months. She constantly says "I'm thirsty" or "I'm hungry". The diapers leak, the "poo" isn't as disgusting as I thought it would be but it drops right out of the diaper. The food and diapers are expensive, but there are simple alternatives, use 1/2 a pack of food, pretend to feed her, use newborn diapers or no-name doll diapers you can purchase from Wal-Mart or other toy stores. The only thing I like about this doll is how happy she made my daughter. ALL of my daughters other Christmas toys are now sitting in a toy box, but she still loves (and plays with) this doll.
Pros: Realistic, good build, entertaining (for kids) Cons: Realistic! Might gross some folks out!
I'm going on a 3 day review here, so keep that in mind.
Santa brought this item to my little girl. When I saw the commercials, I was a bit taken aback (as a man) to see what this doll does. I figured I had a 2 year old my little girl could take care of and be much more authentic!
Anyway, everything seems to work well. The baby is well constructed. I must say it's pretty realistic in that it will even take a pacifier and start to get tired (droopy eyes, then try to wake, then fall asleep).
My daughter (almost 5) takes care of her daily and seems to enjoy her. All in all a good toy.
Fun for little girls but makes a mess! by sahm1 ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: Little girls have fun feeding and changing the doll Cons: Pricey, makes a mess
I bought this doll for my daughter for her birthday for $49.99. I thought my daughter would love being able to feed her doll baby food and change its diaper.
LIKES:
I was right she does like to play with the doll. She has a blast preparing the baby food and feeding her baby.
DISLIKES:
Makes a big mess! Do not feed the doll the whole package of baby food or the diaper will leak all over and every time my daughter would lay the doll down to change the diaper, the baby food would come spilling out of the dolls mouth and get in the dolls hair.
Overall I would recommend this doll because my daughter loves to play mommy to her doll and that is what matters most.
My daughter loves this doll! by maximjh ,Dec 28 '06
Pros: Fun for little girls to feed and change, like a real baby! Cons: Diapers leak and batteries will need to be replaced often
I purchased this doll for my 5-year old daughter for Christmas. She was extremely excited to open the box and start "feeding" her new doll. She plays with it constantly and loves responding to all the cute phrases it says. I did find that the diapers leak and are rather expensive, but real preemie or newborn diapers work better and cost less too. Also, since my daughter plays with it all the time, we have had to replace the batteries once already. I would recommend turning the doll off occasionally (switch on the back) to conserve them.
I would also recommend feeding the doll only half a pack of food--this way the food lasts longer and makes less mess in the diaper.
I would highly recommend the doll--good value for the price, and great for a 5-year old little girl!!
Pros: get to feed doll like a real baby, realistic Cons: diapers don't fit that well. Food can get expensive.
We bought this for our 7 yr old for christmas and she really has enjoyed it. I think it's pretty durable and has held up pretty well. She loves to feed the baby, but not fond of changing it's dirty diapers. I have noticed that the diapers that you can buy for the doll are 2 things, expensive, and don't fit the doll all that well. The diapers are $6.00 for 6 diapers and that can get pretty expensive. I recommend buying the newborn generic diapers where you can get more diapers for the same price. If your daughter uses a lot of food you can buy it from hasbro online for 4.99 a pack which is a lot cheaper then the stores locally sell them for. There hasn't been any problems with the doll so far, so i think its a pretty good doll.
My daughter loves her Baby Alive! by keishabbwnj ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: entertaining for young kids. helps them with responsibility. helps young kids to talk. Cons: my main con is the price and the leaky diapers
I purchased the doll for my daughter's second christmas. being an only child, i thought the livliness of the doll would be very entertaining for her. the doll talks to her, she talks back to her. she falls asleep with the doll and when she wakes up she's looking for her. she loves feeding the doll the bottle and the food. i just don't like her always taking the diapers off.i do have a few gripes with the doll. her diapers are easy to come off and they leak. the price was a lil high. her lipstick faded within 2 weeks. her hair is coming out and all knotty. her face gets dirty real quick. the batteries don't last very long.
